Chhattisgarh: Natural Resources

&<2/”>a >nbsp;

Natural Resources are the product or material that occurs in nature and which are very useful from the perspective of human use.

Examples of Natural Resources:

  1. Water
  2. Minerals
  • Forests

Now, we will discuss the natural resources of Chhattisgarh one by one.

Water

80% of Chhattisgarh Population relies on agriculture for subsistence, water is vital. After considering the reservation of 8,700 Mcum downstream, State uses under various inter-state agreements, the available surface water is 51,200 Mcum. Further, after considering the annual practicability, the State can utilize approximately 41,720 Mcum. It includes long-term requirement of Irrigation, drinking water, industrial use etc.
In addition to surface water, there is dynamic ground Water Resources and its potential has been estimated as 13,678 Mcum.
Under the Asian Development assisted Chhattisgarh Irrigation Development Project, it is proposed to promote sustainability of irrigated agriculture and improve Water Resources Management by rehabilitation and upgrades of minor scheme diversification and field improvement.

At present, the storage constitutes about 7,810 Mcum. it to proposed to raise it to 16,200 Mcum by 2020. A plan for construction of 595 anicuts across various rivers of the State, estimated to cost Rs. 1,657 crores, has also been prepared.

These schemes will enhance the ground water potential.

Minerals

Chhattisgarh is at the top most states in India in terms of Minerals.

State is endowed with rich mineral resources. From Iron Ore to coal and other metallic and non-metallic resources. Below are the minerals in which Chhattisgarh is among the topmost state in India:

  1. Iron Ore
  2. ) Bauxite.

Forest
Forests Slightly less than half of the geographical area of Chhattisgarh is covered by forests. They are rich in bio-diversity. Timber contributes about 40 percent of the total forest revenue. Rest comes from NWFP (Non Wood Forest Products).

The state has three national parks

  1. Guru Ghasidas National Park in Koriya,
  2. Sarguja, Kanger Valley National Park in Bastar and
  • Indrawati National park in Dantewara.

There are 11 wildlife sanctuaries.

Nearly 10,000 industrial units depend on forests for their raw material base.

  • The state is rich in NWFP like Tendu Leaves, Harra, Sal Seed, Gum, Mahua, Amla, Achar, Lac, Chironji and innumerable medicnial Plants.

  • The state has potential to host a number of Herbal, Medicinal, Aromatic plant based units. • The state has a potential of Rs. 500 Crore in NWFP trade.

 ,

Forests, minerals, water, Soil, wildlife, Climate, and energy are all essential to life on Earth. They provide us with food, shelter, and clean air and water. They also play a vital role in regulating the climate and protecting Biodiversity-2/”>Biodiversity.

Forests are home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species. They also help to regulate the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide from the Atmosphere. Forests are also a source of wood, paper, and other products.

Minerals are essential for building homes, roads, and other Infrastructure-2/”>INFRASTRUCTURE. They are also used in manufacturing a wide range of products, including electronics, cars, and appliances. Minerals are non-renewable resources, so it is important to use them wisely.

Water is essential for life. We need water to drink, to grow food, and to produce energy. Water is also used in Industry and for recreation. Water is a finite resource, so it is important to conserve it.

Soil is the foundation of our food system. It provides nutrients to plants and helps to regulate the climate. Soil is also a home to many different plants and animals. Soil is a non-renewable resource, so it is important to protect it.

Wildlife is essential to the Health of our planet. Animals help to pollinate plants, disperse seeds, and control pests. Wildlife also provides us with food, clothing, and medicine. Wildlife is under threat from habitat loss, hunting, and Climate Change.

Climate is the Average weather conditions in a particular area over a long period of time. Climate change is the long-term change in the average weather conditions in a particular area. Climate change is caused by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, which release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere, which causes the Earth’s temperature to rise.

Energy is the ability to do work. We use energy to power our homes, businesses, and transportation systems. We also use energy to produce food, manufacture goods, and provide Services. Energy is a finite resource, so it is important to use it wisely.

We need to protect our forests, minerals, water, soil, wildlife, climate, and energy for future generations. We can do this by making sustainable choices in our daily lives. We can also support policies that promote sustainability.

Here are some things you can do to help protect our planet:

  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
  • Conserve water.
  • Use energy-efficient appliances and Light bulbs.
  • Drive less and walk, bike, or take public transportation more.
  • Eat less meat.
  • Support sustainable businesses and organizations.
  • Get involved in Local Government and environmental advocacy.

Together, we can make a difference.

What are the natural resources of Chhattisgarh?

Chhattisgarh is a state in central India with a rich natural resource base. The state has significant deposits of coal, iron ore, bauxite, limestone, and other minerals. Chhattisgarh is also home to a number of rivers, including the Mahanadi, the Godavari, and the Indravati. These rivers provide water for irrigation, drinking, and hydroelectric power generation.

What are the challenges facing the natural resources of Chhattisgarh?

The main challenges facing the natural resources of Chhattisgarh are deforestation, mining, and pollution. Deforestation is a major problem in Chhattisgarh, as trees are cut down for timber, fuel, and agriculture. This deforestation leads to soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and climate change. Mining is another major challenge facing the natural resources of Chhattisgarh. Mining operations can pollute the air and water, and they can also damage the land. Pollution is a major problem in Chhattisgarh, as industries and vehicles release pollutants into the air and water. This pollution can cause respiratory problems, heart disease, and cancer.

What are the solutions to the challenges facing the natural resources of Chhattisgarh?

There are a number of solutions to the challenges facing the natural resources of Chhattisgarh. One solution is to plant trees to replace those that have been cut down. Another solution is to develop sustainable mining practices that minimize pollution and damage to the land. Finally, the government can implement policies to reduce pollution from industries and vehicles.

What are the benefits of protecting the natural resources of Chhattisgarh?

There are a number of benefits to protecting the natural resources of Chhattisgarh. Protecting forests helps to prevent soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and climate change. Protecting water resources helps to ensure that there is enough water for drinking, irrigation, and hydroelectric power generation. Protecting air quality helps to reduce respiratory problems, heart disease, and cancer.

What are the costs of not protecting the natural resources of Chhattisgarh?

There are a number of costs to not protecting the natural resources of Chhattisgarh. Deforestation can lead to soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, and climate change. Mining can pollute the air and water, and it can also damage the land. Pollution can cause respiratory problems, heart disease, and cancer.
