The https://exam.pscnotes.com/union-public-service-commission”>Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (Class XII) Examination for Stenographer (Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’) in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), Indian Revenue Service (Income tax), Indian DEFENCE Accounts Service, Indian Post and Telegraph Accounts Service, and Central Secretariat Stenographer Service.

The examination will be held on February 25, 2023. The online application process will commence on December 1, 2022 and close on January 31, 2023.

The examination will consist of two papers:

Paper I: Stenography

This paper will be of 100 marks and will be of duration of 1 hour. The paper will consist of two parts:

Part I: Shorthand

This part will consist of 50 questions of 2 marks each. The candidates will be required to write down the passage dictated to them in shorthand at a speed of 80 words per minute.

Part II: Transcription

This part will consist of 50 questions of 2 marks each. The candidates will be required to transcribe the shorthand notes taken in Part I into English at a speed of 60 words per minute.

Paper II: Typing

This paper will be of 100 marks and will be of duration of 1 hour. The paper will consist of two parts:

Part I: English Typing

This part will consist of 50 questions of 2 marks each. The candidates will be required to type out the passage given to them in English at a speed of 35 words per minute.

Part II: Hindi Typing

This part will consist of 50 questions of 2 marks each. The candidates will be required to type out the passage given to them in Hindi at a speed of 30 words per minute.

The qualifying marks for the examination will be 40% for General/OBC candidates and 35% for SC/ST candidates.

The candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for a typing test. The typing test will be of duration of 15 minutes and the candidates will be required to type out a passage at a speed of 35 words per minute for General/OBC candidates and 30 words per minute for SC/ST candidates.

The candidates who qualify in the typing test will be called for an interview. The interview will be of 30 minutes and the candidates will be assessed on their general awareness, Aptitude, and Personality.

The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the written examination, typing test, and interview.

The pay scale for the post of Stenographer (Grade ‘C’) is Rs. 19,900-63,200 (PB-3) with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600. The pay scale for the post of Stenographer (Grade ‘D’) is Rs. 18,000-56,900 (PB-2) with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,200.

The age limit for the examination is 21-30 years as on January 1, 2023. Relaxation in age limit is admissible to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories.

The application fee for the examination is Rs. 100 for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 50 for SC/ST candidates. The application fee can be paid online through the UPSC website.

The admit cards for the examination will be issued online on the UPSC website. The candidates will be required to download their admit cards from the website.
