Exam Pattern and Structure
The TNPSC Civil Judge Exam 2024 is a two-tiered examination, designed to assess candidates’ knowledge and aptitude for the role of a Civil Judge in Tamil Nadu.
Tier 1: Preliminary Examination
- Objective Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Duration: 3 hours
- Subjects:
- General Studies (including History, Geography, Economics, Polity, Science, Current Affairs)
- Legal Aptitude
- Tamil Language
- Negative Marking: Yes, for incorrect answers
- Qualifying Nature: Candidates need to clear the preliminary exam to be eligible for Tier 2.
Tier 2: Main Examination
- Descriptive Type: Written Examination
- Duration: 3 hours for each paper
- Subjects:
- Paper 1: Civil Law (including Indian Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act, Specific Relief Act, Limitation Act, etc.)
- Paper 2: Criminal Law (including Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Evidence Act, etc.)
- Paper 3: Law of Torts, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Legal Ethics, and Professional Conduct
- Paper 4: Tamil Language (including Grammar, Composition, and Translation)
- Negative Marking: No
- Final Merit List: Based on the combined score of Tier 2 papers.
