Exam Pattern of Indian Navy SSC Officer Exam 2024
The Indian Navy conducts the Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer exam twice a year to recruit eligible candidates for various branches. The exam pattern and syllabus for the SSC Officer exam 2024 are as follows:
Stages of the Exam
The Indian Navy SSC Officer exam is conducted in three stages:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
- Medical Examination
Computer Based Examination (CBE)
The Computer Based Examination (CBE) is the first stage of the selection process. It is an objective type exam conducted online. The exam consists of two papers:
Paper 1: General Intelligence and Reasoning
- Syllabus: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Decision Making, etc.

- Maximum Marks: 100
- Duration: 2 hours
Paper 2: General Studies
- Syllabus: Current Affairs, History, Geography, Polity, Economics, Science, etc.

- Maximum Marks: 100

Note: Candidates need to clear both Paper 1 and Paper 2 individually to qualify for the next stage.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is conducted for candidates who qualify the Computer Based Examination (CBE). The PFT is conducted at various designated centers across India. The PFT consists of the following tests:
- 1.6 km Run: Candidates need to complete 1.6 km run in a stipulated time.
- Push-ups: Candidates need to perform a minimum number of push-ups.
- Pull-ups: Candidates need to perform a minimum number of pull-ups.
- Rope Climbing: Candidates need to climb a rope to a certain height.
Note: The minimum qualifying standards for each test vary depending on the branch and gender.
Medical Examination
The Medical Examination is conducted for candidates who qualify the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The medical examination is conducted by authorized medical boards at designated centers. The medical examination is conducted to assess the candidate’s physical and mental fitness for service in the Indian Navy.

Eligibility Criteria
