Manipur aims to empower minorities: CM N Biren Singh

Chief ministerN BirenSingh has said his government aimed to empower the minority sections of the society, and to take them along in the path of development. He was speaking at the 9th State Level Chaga Ngee Festival atMakuilongdi-II, Liang-Nam, in Naga-dominated Senapati district.

The CM also said the Heritage Park, which is being constructed at Makhel at a cost of Rs 6 crore, would be completed within a few weeks.
Biren said the Liangmai community of the state did not have access to certain benefits of the governments welfare programmes earlier. So, his government decided to open a sub-deputy collectors office at Makui village. Later, it would be upgraded to sub-divisional office.

Odisha Vigilance No. 1 in country –CM administers Integrity Pledge to all officers

Joining the State-level function on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week on virtual platform, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said that in the area of detection and registration of disproportionate assets cases, the Odisha Vigilance has ranked number 1 in the country as per the latest National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data.

The theme of this years Vigilance Awareness Week is Corruption-free India for a developed nation.

Patnaik administered the Integrity Pledge to all officers of the State. Awards were also given to best performing officers and prosecutors in the CMs presence. Bhubaneswar Vigilance received the Best Vigilance Division Award.

Patnaik said his Government has adopted a Zero-Tolerance approach to corruption so that basic public services are made available to the people at the grassroots level in a fair and transparent manner.

US firm acquires coco coir products manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu

Leading manufacturer of specialty agriscience materials, US based Profile Products LLC, has acquired Nivetha Exporters, an international producer of high qualitycococoir products inTamil Nadu. Nivetha Exporters with two factories at Pollachi in Coimbatore district recorded a turnover of 100 crore during the last financial year (2021-22).

However, the size of the deal was not disclosed.RiverBridge Investment Advisors Pvt Ltdacted as the exclusive financial advisor for Nivetha.

Coco peat produced from coconut husk is used for soilless cultivation. The acquisition of Nivetha, which is renamed as CoirSci, augments Profile Products raw material selection that now includes peat, coir and HydraFiber, engineered fiber solution and controlled release fertilizer products.

12% moms had poor bonding with kids in Kerala study

A study fromKeraladone by researchers ofNational Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences(NIMHANS), Bengaluru, andNational Health Mission(Kerala) has found that 12% of the 8,189 mothers with children aged 13-15 months studied had impaired bonding.

Incidentally, it has been found that those in extended or joint families, experiencing postpartum complications, supplementary breastfeeding in the first six months, depression and temperamental issues in infants had more impaired bonding.

In the most severe end, where the mother-infant bonding (MIB) is significantly impaired with inadequate maternal skills, there can be adverse consequences including higher risk for impaired learning in young children, child abuse, and psychiatric disorders in children.

Telangana: Take up caste census soon, says BC panel

TheTelangana State BC Commissionhas urged Prime MinisterNarendra Modito review the policies of the Centre on OBCs and take up a caste census without any delay.

Commission chairmanVakulabharanam KrishnaMohan Rao said in the letter that OBCs constitute more than 50% of the population. The matter requires your (PMs) serious attention in taking up the caste census without any delay.

Many states assemblies, including Telangana, have adopted unanimous resolutions for caste census to be undertaken by the Centre and Bihar has earmarked 500 crore for the census but s no response from the Centre.

Andhra Pradesh sees decline in vehicle sales

While vehicle sales zoomed across the country in current financial year,Andhra Pradeshwitnessed an unprecedented decline in sales numbers in the first two quarters of 2022-23, especially in two-wheeler segment. The growth rate of cars also dipped in AP contrary to other states resulting in overall decline in vehicle sales. AP is the only state in the country which recorded negative growth in vehicle sales.

Interestingly, the tax collections by transport department in the current fiscal have gone up by 40% in AP despite weak sales numbers. The two-wheeler sales have come down by 6.5% in the first two quarters of current fiscal when compared to the corresponding period of previous year. The car sales are the only respite to AP which grew by 8.3% but substantially lower than the national average growth rate of 21%.

Smart city winding up next year, finish projects: Centre to Goa

The Centre has written to the Goa government and directed it to complete the smart city mission projects by mid 2023 as the smart city mission is being wound up. The Centre has also formally communicated to ImaginePanajiSmart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) to ensure efficient utilisation of funds for the approved projects before the mission deadline.

At the national level, implementation of the mission is monitored by an apex committee headed by secretary for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The deadline for completing projects under the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) was extended for all 100 selected cities to June 2023 based on a NITI Aayog recommendation.

Maharashtra government rolls out Rs 50,000 farmers’ incentive scheme

The state government began disbursal of Rs 50,000 as part of an incentive scheme for farmers who have been repaying their short-term crop loans on time under theMahatma Jyotirao Phule loan waiver scheme. The scheme had earlier been announced by the MVA.

Rs 2,500 crore was transferred directly to 6.9 lakh bank accounts of farmers.CM Eknath Shindesaid Maharashtra was the first state to make such simultaneous transfers directly to the bank accounts of farmers. In all, Rs 4,700 crore will be transferred to 16 lakh farmers.
