Manipur signs MoU with AIFF to set up center of excellence for world-class footballing facilitiesFinally Manipur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) to set up a center of excellence for development of a world-class footballing facilities in the North Eastern state. The MoU was signed by AIFF Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran and Secretary N Kheda Varta of Manipurs Youth affairs & sports department in presence of the state Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief minister N Biren Singh and AIFF president Kaylan Chaubey, prior to the last and final match of the historic Hero tri-nation international football tournament here at the fully packed Khuman Lampak main stadium.


Assam govt not involved in delimitation exercise, cant say when it will be over: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assamchief ministerHimanta Biswa Sarma said the is not involved in the process of redrawing of assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies, either directly or indirectly. Therefore, it cannot say as to when the exercise will be completed.
The full team of the Election Commission, which is entrusted with the task of delimitation in the state, will be here on a two-day visit from March 26 to monitor the exercise.

The EC had set the ball rolling for the long overdue delimitation in the state with the issuance of a notification on December 27. It came into effect on January 1.

No mobile connectivity in 5,770 Odisha villages

As many as 5,770 villages in Odisha do not have mobile Network connectivity. The information was provided by Union Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on March 24, raised by Sulata Deo.

45,406 villages out of total 51,176 villages of the State have mobile network connectivity facilities till December 2022, he stated.

While only two villages each in Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda do not have mobile network connectivity, four villages out of total 1,702 villages in Puri district are without mobile network. Highest number of villages (1,247) in Kandhamal district do not have mobile network connection, followed by Rayagada (1,041), Koraput (598), Gajapati (582) and Kalahandi (545) districts.

As per the reports, less than 20 villages in Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Puri, Baleswar, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Bolangir, Bargarh and Kendrapada districts do not have mobile network connectivity.

Cabinet nod for 93cr Kovalam development plan

The state cabinet has given approval to the Rs 93 croreKovalamtourism development project. Tourism ministerMohamed Riyassaid that the project will facilitate a grand make-over of the iconic global tourist destination.

Apart from elevatingKeralas status as a major tourist hub further, the comprehensive project will lead to extensive development of Kovalam as a world-class beach destination.

The government has given approval to the scheme by including it in Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) projects. It envisages renovation of Kovalam along with its adjacent beaches, besides ensuring coastal conservation. It fulfils the demand for a comprehensive development of Kovalam which has borne the brunt of frequent rough sea conditions.

The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase of works includes Infrastructure Development of Hawa Beach and Light House Beach, renovation of Silent Valley Sunbath Park, development of corporation land, commuting facilities to IB beach, marking boundaries of IB beach and Adimalathura beach and takeover of the coconut grove land.

Karnataka to get 2 new cybersecurity labs

The Home department will set up two cybersecurity forensic labs with exclusive focus on cybercrime in Shivamogga and Tumakuru. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is awaiting a final order from the government in this regard.

In the recently presented budget, chief minister Basavaraj Bommai had announced the establishment of labs in these districts to strengthen evidence examination and improve the success rate in cybercrime investigation.

According to recent data shared by the department, on an Average, Rs 1 crore is stolen from individuals daily by cybercriminals.Karnatakalost a whopping Rs 363 crore in 2022, while Rs 722 crore has been siphoned off in total since 2019. The data was presented in the legislative council in response to a question asked by MLC M Nagaraj.

Telangana fares well in urban health infrastructure, but rural under strain

Despite its Network of sub-centres and primary Health centres (PHCs),Telanganahas among the least number of medical centres in rural areas.

The state stands 14th in the country, as per the latest report of the Centre. The report covers both states and union territories.

According to the report, presented by minister for health and family welfareMansukh Mandaviyain the Rajya Sabha, the state has 4,229 sub-centres, 573 PHCs and 28 community health centres (CHCs) in rural areas. In comparison,Uttar Pradeshhas the highest number of sub centres at 20,781 with 2,919 PHCs and 829 CHCs in rural areas. The report covered centres up to March 31, 2022.

WB country director lauds AP reforms in edu, health sectors

He said World Bank will support the state government as the innovative programmes taken up in education and health sectors will bolster Human Development index.

Riding on Mopa, tourism, mining, Goa expects 10.3% growth this year

After years of sluggishness due to theCovid-19 pandemic, the expects Goa’s economy to grow by 10.3% in the coming financial year. The Growth is likely to be driven by the newly-constructed Manohar International Airport at Mopa,tourism, and the anticipated resumption of mining activities.

The government’s optimistic outlook is revealed in the Economic Survey report for 2022-23, which was tabled in the state legislative assembly by CMPramod Sawant.
The Economic Survey sheds Light on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, pointing out that against the Average growth rate of 6% in 2017 and 2019, Goa witnessed a degrowth of -6.6% during the outbreak. However, Goa’s economy has bounced back since then, and is on course to register a growth of 9% in the 2021-2023 period. These estimates are at current prices and not indexed against Inflation.

As per the finance department’s advance estimates, the value of Goa’s economy in 2022-23 is Rs 90,641 crore. “The Goan economy is in a favorable position to witness growth of 10.3% in 2023-24,” said the Economic Survey.

Phase-1 of theMopa airportcommenced operations in January, and the survey states that more than 1,300 Goans have gained EMPLOYMENT at the privately-owned and operated airport.

The government has also initiated the ‘Mopa Plantation Programme’ to encourage locals to plant indigenous species of Plants along with Cash Crops in the vicinity of the airport.

Maharashtra govt plans corporations for Brahmins, artists too

After announcing eight new and other corporations for various communities, sects, social groups and workers from the unorganised sector and taxi/auto rickshaw owners and drivers, the state is now planning to set up corporations for the Brahmin, Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu (CKP) and open category communities, and one for the welfare of the state’s artists too.

The information was revealed by MLA Prakash Solankhe and minister Sudhir Munganthiwar while replying to a question raised by minister Atul Save and some MLCs.
