Punjab Agricultural University museum to host AIMAs first-ever conference in South Asia

For the first time in 60 years, the International Association ofAgricultural Museums(AIMA), France, will organise its conference in South Asia and has chosen the Museum of Social HISTORY of Rural Punjab ofPunjab Agricultural Universityas its venue. More than 100 international delegates will attend the event scheduled for October.AIMAcame into existence in Prague, Czech Republic (thenCzechoslovakia) in 1966. The event is organised every two years in different countries.
Upbeat over the development, PAU vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal credited the Punjab governments tourism website for giving aptspaceto the PAUs museum.

The event ‘First Congress of International Agricultural Museums (CIMA) will see participation of over 100 delegates from over 50 countries along with 200 students, researchers and experts from India. The officials said the conference will be inaugurated on World Food Day, October 16 by World Food Prize Winner Dr Gurdev Singh Khush.

Govt to invest Rs 250 cr in milk plant at Kangra

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced today that the would invest Rs 250 crore to upgrade facilities at the milk processing plant at Dhagwar in Kangra district.

The CM said Cooperative Societies would be established to increase the income of Dairy farmers by ensuring effective Marketing of milk and its by-products. The necessary Infrastructure would be developed in a phased manner, he added.

The state government aims to collect milk from cattle owners and sell its by-products to improve the rural economy. A sum of Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the Him-Ganga scheme, which will be initially launched on a pilot basis to develop a milk-based economy in the state.

Cattle owners will receive fair prices for milk on the basis of the real cost and efforts will be made to enhance the quality and efficiency of milk procurement, processing, and marketing systems. The government will also protect dairy farmers from regional and seasonal price fluctuations.

Focus on monthly targets to achieve revenue collection goal: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the government departments to focus on meeting the monthly targets of revenue collection. Chairing a meeting on revenue collections at the State secretariat, the CM said that the departments would be able to achieve their annual targets only when the monthly targets of revenue are achieved. Stressing on further strengthening the online system of revenue collections, the CM said that emphasis should be laid on increasing the from the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He suggested that the general public should be encouraged to take bills and directed that an awareness campaign on a massive scale should be launched for it.

The CM asked the officers to work in a planned manner to achieve the revenue targets and said that the departments should focus on use of modern technology and transparency in the system. He said that the departments should work in coordination for increasing the revenue collections. Dhami said that in the areas where expected revenue collections are not taking place, the officers concerned should undertake an in-depth analysis to find out reasons for the failure and find solutions. The CM added that special focus should be done in capital expenses and the departments should focus on recovery of past years. The CM said that a strong online system should be set in place for revenue collection in the mining sector. He suggested that the seasonal streams in the forest areas should be earmarked and channelized. The CM said that the forest department should work in a more organised manner for better utilisation of the forest wealth. He added that the officers should work on innovations for better use of forest wealth. Dhami asked the officers that work on medicinal Plants should be done with the help of Van Panchayats.

UP exports rise by Rs 10,000 crore in comparison to 2021-22: FIEO

The latest data with theFederation of India Exports Organisation(FIEO) shows thatUttar Pradesh’s exports have gone up by Rs 10,000 crore in the past year.

Noida, which is among the most industrialised areas in the state, has topped as the district with most exports at Rs 74,000 crore.
FIEO says that the government’s subsidies to counter the high costs of transportation in view of UP’s landlocked status and push to the one district-one product scheme, have helped in taking the exports up.

As per the data, the total quantum of exports from UP in 2021-22 was Rs 1.57 lakh crore while from April 2022 to February 2023, it touched Rs 1.59 lakh crore. Sources said that with the input from March 2023, it was expected to touch around Rs 1.67 lakh crore.

Compared to other states, UP still has massive potential for improvement.
In 2021-22, Gujarat topped all states with exports of Rs 9.46 lakh crore, followed by Maharashtra with Rs 5.45 lakh crore. UP is fifth on the list, behindTamil Naduand Karnataka.

UP is prominently exporting to the USA, UAE, Germany,United Kingdom, Nepal, France, Spain,Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. Among the products which are driving up the state’s exports are telecom instruments, buffalo meat, RMGCottonincluding accessories, RMG manmade fibre, leather footwear, saddlery and harness, aluminum and aluminum products, silk and handmade carpets, machinery and engineering goods, wheat, rice, sugar, iron and steel, handicrafts etc.

Mission Life campaign launched in Jharkhand

The Mission Life campaign has been started by the Government of India to adopt an Environment-friendly lifestyle, a swearing-in ceremony was organized in the auditorium of the Rural Development Department to maintain a green and healthy environment for the betterment of the coming generations.

It was presided over by MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B. DDC, Project Officer and BDO were administered oath for green and healthy environment through virtual medium along with senior office bearers and office workers. On this occasion, Rajeshwari B told people to save energy, save water, do not use plastic, and nutritious food, reduce garbage, healthy lifestyle and reduce electronic waste. Along with this, she also took a pledge to protect the environment.

Under Secretary, Arun Kumar Sinha said that the objective of Mission Life is to adopt and promote a lifestyle that does not harm the environment. The objective of this mission is to enhance the healthy Climate by implementing small steps and measures at the individual and community level, he added.

New ATC, cargo complex at Patna airport to be functional by July

The newly built Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower-cum-technical building, fire station and cargo complex at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport are likely to be commissioned by July this year.
According to an airport official, the 25-metre-high ATC tower, which is equipped with advanced technology and equipment, will give a further push to air traffic automation with up-to-date air traffic management, communications and aviation-surveillance systems, and ease the traffic flow. It is almost 8m taller than the existing ATC tower. The new tower will enable air traffic controllers to have a 360-degree view of the airport and its vicinity from the new structure.

The new facilities are part of thePatna airport redevelopmentproject under which new terminal building and other auxiliary structures are being constructed.

Govt committed to conserve biodiversity

Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said Chhattisgarh is rich in and steps are being taken by the government for its conservation and promotion.

He was addressing a function to mark the International Biodiversity Day. It was organized by the Chhattisgarh State Biodiversity Board at Aranya Bhawan, Nava Raipur.

The Minister laid special emphasis on the need to start a public awareness campaign for conservation and promotion of biodiversity.

CM Sikho-Kamao Yojana will provide new opportunities for unemployment

Our efforts for self-employment continue unabated. Employment Day is being organised every month. It is our resolve that the youth will not be left unemployed. For this purpose, a new scheme is being implemented to teach skills to the youth for employment.

The youth will also get paid along with Learning the skill. Companies and service sector will be linked for skill training. Unemployment allowance is redundant. The new scheme is a scheme to give wings to the youth by enhancing their capacity, so that they can fly high in the open sky and they get new opportunities for employment, progress and development. Under the scheme, the registration of establishments giving training to youth will start from June 7 and the registration of youth willing to learn work will start from June 15 and the placement will start from July 15.

From July 31, the contract will be processed between the establishment that gives the training and the state government. The youth will start working from August 1. This revolutionary scheme will teach the youth to stand on their own feet instead of walking on crutches. Financial assistance will be provided to the youth during the period of learning from work.

Under the scheme, at least one lakh youths will be provided training in establishments. Local residents of Madhya Pradesh, 18 to 29 years old youth, whose educational qualification is 12th or ITI or higher, will be eligible in the scheme. After the training, the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) certificate will be given by the Madhya Pradesh State Skill development and Employment Generation Board (MPSSDEGB).

Industry raises CEPI sampling issue with Union ministry

TheCentral Pollution Control Board(CPCB) has not carried out sampling for the comprehensive environmental pollution index (CEPI) since 2019. Industrial entities fromGujaratraised this issue with the Union Environment ministry.

Representatives from the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and (GCCI) on Tuesday met senior officials in the ministry and raised the issues of CEPI sampling and hazardous Waste Management. GCCI said that the performance of common effluent treatment Plants (CETPs) in the state has improved over the last few year, but CPCB last carried out CEPI sampling in 2018 and after that had declared the Ankleshwar, Vapi, Vadodara,Vatva, Narol, Surat, Rajkot industrial clusters “critically polluted” and Bhavnagar as “severely polluted”. These classifications did not follow the revised CEPI guidelines of 2016.

On intl biodiversity day, stateforest dept launches 2 safaris

On the International Day for , the state forest department launched two safaris in Udaipur andJhunjhunudistricts, enhancing Rajasthan’s reputation as a wildlife destination for tourists.
While the focus of safari in Beed reserve in Jhunjhunu will be on blackbucks and chinkaras, the one launched in Jaisamand in Udaipur district will be a leopard safari, also the first outside Jaipur district.

The leopard safari in Jaisamand sanctuary was planned by the forest department’s following the successful operations of Jhalana andAmagarhleopard reserves. The safari is expected to increase tourism in the area, provide an additional attraction for visitors exploring the Jaisamand lake, the second-largest manmade lake in India.
