Himachal Pradesh notice to NHAI for dumping debris along Beas

Taking a stern note of dumping of debris by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) along the Beas, the HP Forest Department has directed it to take corrective measures.

Earlier in August, the department had imposed a fine of Rs 1.15 crore on the NHAI for violations during the construction of the 40-km-long two-lane highway between Ramshila (Kullu) and Manali and 10-km-long four-lane highway between Jia (Bhuntar) and Ramshila.

Chauhan said dumping sites provided to the National Highways Authority of India were largely found vacant and it was found that its contractors had dumped the debris at many places along the Beas, ruining the ECOLOGY of the region.

Uttarakhand’s biggest biodiversity park, spread across 50 hectares, to be set up in Garhwal

Uttarakhands biggestbiodiversity parkwill be set up at Garhwals Muni Ki Reti. Dubbed the Shiwalik Park (SBP) and spread across 50 hectares of land, its aim is to conserve the natural landscape of the area. The park is expected to bring in around 5 lakh tourists who visit Rishikesh every year. It will have 33 types of conservation concepts, all developed at the cost of Rs 65 crore. The project will be executed in three phases over the next five years. Interestingly, the park is expected to generate EMPLOYMENT for at least 7,000 people, according to preliminary estimates by forest authorities.

Objectives behind building the park include Biodiversity conservation, promotion of natural products (testing, processing, value addition, Marketing, and quality control), livelihood enhancement, eco-restoration of degraded forests, nature Education, promoting responsible visits to the Himalayan natural treasures, and TEACHING the importance of various types of Ecosystems. The SBP is divided into two parts, the Herbal Eco-Par, spread across 6.32 hectares, and Nature Park Area, across 43.05 hectares.

The biodiversity park will also have miniature replicas of iconic sites in Uttarakhand such as the Char Dham shrines. It will have a valley of flowers with a water body, a nature Learning centre, butterfly conservatory, open-air aviary, a theme-based Light and Sound show called ‘Conservation of the Maa Ganga River’, a natural herbal haat, a conservation park, some livelihood-based activities, five nature trails, and a Sanskriti Gram.

The biodiversity park would have a Shivalik transition zone, a rich ecotone, hillside grasslands, gentle active plains, tropical deciduous forests, bushlands, and upper Bhabar landscapes. These different landscapes would be interconnected by nature trails and would support more than 1,000 species of Plants. The park is surrounded by the main Char Dham roads, NH-58 and NH-94, which is why the department is expecting a handsome income generation through the set-up.

UPs first air pollution control tower to be launched

Trial runs of the states firstair pollution control tower(APCT), which has come up on the green belt ofDND ExpresswaynearFilm CitySector 16, commencedrecently.

Air Pollution during the winter months of November to January every year had led the authority to draw up the plan to set up an APCT, apart from measures like water sprinkling and imposing fines on construction sites.

The tower, built at a cost of Rs 4 crore by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), will suck in polluted air and the filters, installed at its base, will capture the particulate matter.

The tower also has an automatic pulse jet-type dust cleaning system to clean the PM 2.5 filter periodically at regular intervals.

As per IMA secretary, there are several stringent provisions as per the Act which will be a herculean task for doctors running clinics to follow. The IMA claimed that the state government is going to introduce the Clinical Establishment Act on the pressure of big corporate hospitals.

The doctors said that 23 states in Country including neighboring Bihar, West Bengal and others have introduced medical protection act and there is reason behind delaying the implementation of medical protection act.

State-run corporation can monitor liquor trade in Bihar: CIABC

The Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) has urged the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar to end in the state.

It has also suggested several steps to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure that his avowed goals of helping Women is achieved without adverse fallouts of prohibition.

The state’s development has been affected as it is losing out on revenue from the legitimate liquor trade which is pegged at around Rs 10,000 crore per annum.

The CIABC has also suggested a state-run wholesaling Corporation for close monitoring and control on the liquor trade in the state.

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel emphasises need to promote organic manure to battle fertiliser shortage

Chief ministerBhupesh Baghelhas stressed on the need to promote the production of organic manure and vermicomposting at national level to encourage which can help in overcoming chemical fertilizer shortage.

Baghel said thatChhattisgarhis the only state in the country to have declared support price to produce Kodo, Kutki and Ragi. The millet production is being promoted in the state under the Millet Mission. Seven districts of Bastar division, five of Surguja along with Kawardha andRajnandgaonhave been included under the mission. Forest region have low Irrigation capacity and Millets take lesser time to produce. Hence, the production of millet in such areas can provide a good Source Of Income to the dwellers. Arrangements are also being made to procure and market the millets, he said.

MNREGA,Pradhan Mantri GramSadak Yojana (PMGSY),Pradhan MantriAwas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan MantriKaushal Vikas Yojana, Digital India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water Program were also reviewed during the meeting.

MP’s first: 50MVA GIS power grid to be installed in Indore

As part of expansion of its transmission Network in and aroundIndore,Madhya Pradesh PowerTransmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) is going to set up a new gas insulated substation (GIS) in the city.

Being planned in place of an old power grid of Mahalakshmi Nagar area of the city, this new substation will have 50MVA capacity, and it will be the state’s first GIS grid to be used for high voltage transmission work.

The 50 MVA substation is part of MPPTCL’s efforts to reinforce the existing high-voltage transmission ring project around Indore and it will increase the bulk power available for the east part of the city and also for the upcoming Metro Rail project.

Gujarat govt clears major hurdles for redevelopment

A major hurdle in the path ofredevelopmentof old societies registered under theGujarat Co-operative Acthas been removed. A simple office order to all district registrars of co-operatives has been issued by the state to allow redevelopment projects under the amended Act.

Though the existing amendment to theGujaratOwnership Flats Act (1972) was made in September 2018, it was in December 2019 that the urban development department clearly stated that the redevelopment clause also applies to housing societies governed by Gujarat Cooperatives Act. However, since there was no office order from the Co-operatives department, many district registrars were reluctant to accept redevelopment proposals from cooperative housing societies.

Children from 15 states conduct mock Rajasthan assembly session

In a first, 200 schoolchildren from 15 states have carried out assembly proceedings in a special session ofRajasthanState Assembly to mark the birth anniversary of the nations first PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

The children, divided into ruling party and opposition, discussed and debated on 18 issues that the state is facing.

States to get additional Rs 47,500 crore this month: Finance minister

The Centre decided to release an additional Rs 47,500 crore to states as their share of taxes in order to boost capital spending, especially for . The Centre said the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel would not impact transfers to states.

The Centre, which has seen healthy revenue collections, has already stepped up fund transfer for GST compensation and is now pushing more funds to states, which were sitting on cash balance of nearly Rs 2.7 lakh crore at the end of October. Only four states had a negative cash balance.
