Shillong Technology Park Was Inaugurated In Meghalaya

Meghalaya Chief Minister Shri Conrad Sangma recently opened the Shillong Technology Park.

Highlights:

The primary goal is to re-integrate Meghalayans who have left the state to pursue work. In addition, the park will provide new job possibilities for the state’s youth.

The park’s principal goal is to provide various job opportunities for the state’s children. They should not consider leaving the state in search of better chances.

Meghalaya is currently constructing five-star hotels and other urban luxury facilities. The very first freight train arrived in the state lately. This will create the ideal Environment for the IT sector’s Growth.

The park will support incubation centers. These centers will collaborate with both the government and the private sector.

Companies from all across the country and companies from other countries have been invited to open their operations at the park by the .

The park is built on a plug-and-play model. The state government is already implementing an ISP strategy to improve the state’s Infrastructure.

The park will be developed in the same way. Infrastructure, Services, and People are the three components of an ISP.

To put it another way, set up the infrastructure. Provide the services that are requested. People must be empowered to reap the benefits.

The Meghalaya State Government will fund the initial phase of construction. For the following phases, the park will use a public-private PARTNERSHIP model.

Benefits And Needs:

Seventy percent of Meghalaya’s Population is under the age of 35. The IT Industry has a lot of potentials. In the state, there is a significant demographic dividend.

This will make it easier to put young people’s abilities to work in the IT industry.

According to the World Economic Forum, by 2025, half of the world’s workforce will require reskilling. This is primarily due to technological advancements.

Furthermore, job automation and the pandemic are causing more economic shocks. The tech park will fill this chasm.

Student enrolment in non-pvt schools in Assam rises during pandemic

The total number of students in all government, aided and non-private schools across Assam has increased by over 63,000 during the 15-month period since September 2020, according to official data. The Education Department has recently collated the enrolment figures of all students from Classes I to XII and found that the total number has increased despite apprehensions of dropout due to the impact of the pandemic.

According to a datasheet, which is available with PTI, the grand total of students in government, aided, tea garden managed and venture (established by the people of a locality) schools have increased to 56,84,487 in November 2021 from 56,21,203 in September 2020. The figures showed an increase of 63,284 students, registering a Growth of 1.13 per cent in total enrolments. Out of this, the highest rise has been witnessed in the elementary section, comprising Classes I to VIII, with 72,097 more enrolments in the 15-month period. There were 44,92,085 students in the elementary section of all the non-private schools of Assam in September 2020, which increased to 45,64,182 in November 2021.

Promote jackfruit cultivation for nutrition security

In a step to enhance nutritional security, Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra has directed to promote and popularise jackfruit cultivation in the State.

Mahapatra directed the Department of to popularise cultivation of jackfruit with necessary supports like quality planting material, post harvest processing, value addition and Marketing. He added that jackfruit could be branded and popularized as a super-food among the people.

Mahapatra directed to identify the potential areas where jackfruit could be cultivated in large patches. The department was asked to explore all possibilities for promoting it in the areas where people had traditional skill for jackfruit cultivation.

He also directed to promote local Entrepreneurship for setting up post-harvest processing, and value addition enterprises on different verities of jackfruits. He also directed to increase the area under jackfruit cultivation in convergence withongoinghorticultural schemes and MGNRGES.

New Species Of Spider And Millipede In Kerala

Researchers from Christ College, Irinjalakuda’s Department of Zoology, identified a new spider species in the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and a new millipede species on the University of Calicut’s Tenhipalam campus.

Highlights:

Carrhotus tholpettyensis is a new species of spider discovered from the moist deciduous forest of the Tholpetty range of wildlife sanctuary in the Western Ghats.

It’s a nocturnal jumping spider, which retreats to cover under leaves during daytime. It comes out only during already dark for feeding. As of now, 287 species of jumping spiders are reported from India.

Bengaluru: Hospitalisation among kids lower than elders, shows BBMP data

The fear that children would be the most vulnerable during the third wave of Covid-19 has not really turned out to be true, if data of hospitalisations in the city is any indication.
BBMP data for the last 10 days accessed by TOI shows that those in the age group of 0-18 accounted for 129 or 6% of 2,190 people who were admitted to hospitals after contracting Covid-19.

People aged above 60 accounted for 1,038 or nearly half of hospitalisations during the last 10 days. While 832 elders got admitted to private hospitals, 206 underwent treatment in government ones.

Bosch Global Software Technologies to set up shop in Hyd, to generate 3K jobs

Happening Hyderabad is all set to add yet another marquee name to its growing list of global IT sector biggies who have made the city their Home.

This time, its German giant Boschs group companyBoschGlobal Software Technologies Pvt Ltd (BGSW), till recently known as Robert Bosch Engineering and Business solutions Private Limited (RBEI), that is planning to set up its global development centre in Hyderabad.

The proposed facility is slated to open this year and is expected to create about 3,000 jobs.

According to sources, the focus of the proposed R&D facility is expected to be on mobility, in particular hydrogen cell technology, as well as space materials research. A formal announcement on the Hyderabad centre is expected to be made later this month.
The proposed Hyderabad facility is part BGSWs plans to hire over 5,500 engineers in 2022 through expansions to new locations like Hyderabad, Pune as well as Hanoi in Vietnam. The company plans to hire in the new age technology areas like , Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Computer vision, among others.

The chief minister said Infrastructure Development projects should be made available to farmers in every village. The chief minister said a custom hiring centre for Organic Farming should be set up at every RBK by next year and directed officials to create awareness among famers. He also directed officials to arrange machinery and equipment for organic and natural farming at every RBK. He instructed officials to ensure a better price for organic and natural farming products.

Haryana okays draft Bill on conversions

Following in the footsteps of several BJP-ruled states, the Haryana Cabinet today approved the draft of the of Unlawful Conversion Bill aimed at tackling love jihad and forced religious conversions. The Bill will be tabled in the forthcoming Budget session of the Vidhan Sabha.

The Bill, however, does not mention the term love jihad. The expression is used by BJP leaders and the Sangh parivar to describe alleged conspiracy to convert Hindu Women to Islam.

The draft Bill seeks to prohibit religious conversions effected through misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement or by any fraudulent means or by marriage.

Now, individuals converting from one religion to another will have to submit to the authority concerned a declaration that the conversion was not effected through misrepresentation, use of force, threat, undue influence, coercion, allurement or by any fraudulent means or by marriage. The marriages solemnised by concealing religion will be declared null and void.
