The number of housing projects registered with theTamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority(TNRERA) till October this year has exceeded the total number of projects that were registered in 2020.

While 765 housing projects were registered with the state’s real estate regulatory Authority between January and October, only 755 projects were registered from January to December in 2020.

A year before, 492 housing projects got registered for the entire 2019. All ongoing housing projects must be registered with the state’s real estate regulatory authority.

Delta farmers have urged the Union Government to include a representative from Naduin the committee formed by it to make minimum support price (MSP) system more effective and transparent.

Highlights:

Minister dedicated the price range to farmers who are protesting in New Delhi towards the three farm laws.

The authorities allotted Rs 34,220.65 crores for Agriculture and allied sectors consisting of Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Revenue, Fisheries, Agricultural Engineering, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.

During the final budget, the government had allocated Rs 11,894.48 for these sectors.

TheParliamenton July 26 unanimously passed the National Institute of Food Technology, and Management (NIFTEM) Bill, 2021 to declare IIFPT as an INI.

IIFPT director Dr C Anandharamakrishnan said the development would the pave way for the institutes functional autonomy for administrative policy decisions and establishing new departments to meet the requirement of skilled manpower. The INI status will also enable the institute to start new innovative courses and research in food technology.

Industries minister T R B Rajaa on Sunday carried out a review meeting to assess the performance of the cement manufacturing plant of theTamil Nadu Cements Corporation Limited(TANCEM) in Kayarlabath in Ariyalur district.

The has embarked on a mission to double the tree and forest cover in the state from 23% to 33%. Contributing to the mission, we will consider planting suitable tree saplings in the closed mines, the saplings that could accustom to the conditions will be selected, T R B Rajaa said.

Chief Minister of Nadu, MK Stalin launched the Ennum Ezhuthum Scheme in state, as schools re-opened after summer vacation.

This scheme was launched to bridge the Learning gap among students aged under 8, caused as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.

It aims to ensure foundational numeracy and Literacy by 2025.

Scheme was launched at an event, organised in Azhinjivakkam panchayat union middle school, Tiruvallur.

Under the Ennum Ezhuthum Scheme, Education department will distribute workbooks to students from Classes 1 to 3, in order to assess and bridge the learning gap.

Training programme for teachers

Before this launch, a special training programme was organised for teachers and handbooks were distributed among them. They were advised to opt for an interactive learning method and encourage students to read books and newspapers in school library.

A total of 1536.31 crore has been allocated in three schemes for laying water pipelines from Vaigai dam to Alanganallur, Vadipatti, Chellampatti, Thirumangalam, Thiruparankundram and Kallikudi. A total of 240.45 crore has been set part for laying water pipeline from Vaigai dam to T Kallupatti and Sedapatti and 127.18 crore for Melur and Kottampatti.

Union , Shipping and Waterways MinisterSarbananda Sonowal,who inaugurated theNational Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways & Coasts (NTCPWC)at the Discovery Campus of IIT-Madras. The centre will enable Make in India tech solutions for the sector and propel overall Growth. The Discovery Campus was set up in February 2018 on 163-acre area of the IIT Madras, and is located at Thaiyur, about 36 km from the main campus at Guindy.

The NTCPWC, the technology arm of Union Shipping Ministry will be expanded to include world-class multifunctional maritime laboratories in the areas of Climate-change”>Climate Change, marine Robotics, marine informatics and analytics, smart modelling and simulation. A maritime innovation hub, which will act as core of breeding ecosystem for fostering startups and innovation in the nation, will be setup at the NTCPWC.

The NTCPWC-IIT Madras, Discovery Campus spread over four acres, has about five state-of-the-art labs. Notable among them is the Sedimentation Management and test Basin, which is a large shallow water facility for ports and waterways and marine information and Communication laboratory where iVTMS and e-Navigation products are developed.

Nadu became the fourth State, after Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka, to cross a total of one million COVID-19 cases. The number of people who have so far tested positive account for roughly 1.3% of the total Population.

With 10,941 cases reported on Monday, the State took just 14 days to go from nine lakh cases to 10 lakh cases. An analysis of the number of days it took to cross every one lakh case showed that this was the shortest period taken to add one more lakh to the tally, indicating the sharp rise being seen during the second wave of the pandemic.

Tamil Nadu stood 11th in the number of tests performed per million (TPM) population. With a TPM of 2.69 lakh, the total number of tests conducted so far accounted for more than 25% of the population. The State has relied completely on RT-PCR tests, unlike most other States that opted for antibody tests too.

Though the State had a relatively low overall case fatality rate (CFR) of 1.31%, it stood 12th in the country and the value was higher than the national Average of 1.19%. Deaths have begun to increase in the past two weeks, with more than 40 deaths reported in the last two days. The last time the State reported more than 40 deaths was during October 2020.

The analysis also showed that the Percentage of people in the 13-60 age group testing positive had increased in the second wave after declining during the relatively lull period from November to February.

Among the 44 Regional Parties, assets of the top 10 parties, including TRS, TDP and YSRC, total Rs 2,028 crore, which is equivalent to 95 per cent of the total assets declared by all the regional parties for the financial year 2019-20. The SP leads the charts with Rs 563 crore assets.
The total assets declared by the seven national and 44 regional parties during the financial year amounted to Rs 6,988 crore and Rs 2,129 crore respectively, according to the ADR report.
