e-governance award for state poll body

The State (SEC) bagged the CSI SIG e-Governance award 2022 for developing integrated suite of applications for ensuring smooth local bodies Elections. It was developed and implemented by the NIC Haryana during the general elections of Urban Local Bodies in 2022.

A spokesperson said that the award was presented by the Computer Society of India and received by Dr Inder Jeet, Secretary, State Election Commission, Haryana, along with Deepak Bansal, State Informatics Officer, NIC Haryana and other officials of the SEC and NIC Haryana at a function organised by the CSI SIG on March 25 at Delhi Technological University, New Delhi.

The ICT project, which received award was developed by NIC Haryana, under the guidance of Dhanpat Singh, State Election Commissioner, Haryana.

Govt jobs given to 27,042 youth: Punjab CM

The Chief Minister said that Unemployment is the root cause of several social problems due to which the is focusing on eradicating this malady. So far, 27,042 government jobs have been given to the youth within merely one year of assuming the charge of office. This spree will continue in the coming days too as the State Government is laying major thrust on providing jobs to the youth, he said.

The Chief Minister said that this venue has witnessed a number of such events in which youth have got jobs in various government departments. This reflects the state governments commitment to ensure the well-being of youth and opening new avenues of EMPLOYMENT for them. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for me that all the youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of merit, he said.

‘First Green State by 2025: Himachal Pradesh signs MoU; project to bring in investment of over Rs 4,000 crore

To make Himachal Pradesh the First Green State by 2025 as well as a leading hydrogen-based economy, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed withHLC Green Energy LLCin Shimla.

Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhusaid that green hydrogen has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly; reducing fertilizer prices; and contributing to the nations economy through import substitution.

He said that Himachal Pradesh was already famous for green hydel energy and would now encourage new clean such as those based on ethanol, green hydrogen, green ammonia and solar energy projects.

The industries minister said that the company intends to produce 0.3 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen and 1.5 million metric tons (MMT) of green ammonia per year.

The project the land requirement for which is around 20-25 acres is likely to be set up in Una and Kangra.

He said that the manufacturing facility has planned to bring in an of more than Rs 4,000 crore, besides generating direct and indirect EMPLOYMENT opportunities for about 2,500 persons.

Uttarakhand plans 50 health kiosks on Char Dham yatra route

In a move to spruce up the Health for the upcomingChar Dham yatra, theUttarakhandgovernment on Saturday signed an MoU with IT firm Hewlett Packard Enterprise to openhealthcare kiosksat 50 points along the yatra route.
The move will help install ‘one-stop digital touch-point integrated built-in healthcare kiosks’ with diagnostic equipment which will be set up at the locations where pilgrims usually take a break while undertaking the pilgrimage. The diagnosis of almost all vital tests related to cardiology, neurology and pulmonary would be conducted through these kiosks, an official said.

UP cane dept makes GPS survey of crop area must

Thecane development departmentofUttar Pradeshhas mandated the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology for estimating the sugarcane acreage across the state for the 2023-24 crushing season.

It will help the sugar mills in estimating the volume of sugarcane crops to be crushed during the forthcoming crushing season.

GPS will ensure acreage estimates are accurate so as to enable the state sugarcane department brace for the impending season.

IIAB signs MoU with BAU on academic and research collaboration

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB) and Birsa Agricultural University (BAU)

The MoU envisages collaboration between the two research and academic institutions in terms of student and faculty exchanges and sharing of research . IIAB is working under the aegis of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research located at Garkhatanga, Ranchi. It has a mandate to develop human Resources in the area of agricultural biotechnology and conduct research as an interface of Plants, animals, Fisheries and microbes.

The GI tag was granted by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.

GI tag is an intellectual property right in which the quality and importance of any product is determined by the geographical Environment of that particular place. Thus, the place of origin of that product is recognized.

Low arrival reduces dal mills output by 20% in Madhya Pradesh

A sharp jump in pulses prices and reduced arrivals in the spot markets of Madhya Pradesh has slowed down processing at dal mills reducing production capacity by over 20 per cent.

Daily arrivals of pulses like tur, urad and chana have reduced in the spot markets amid apprehension of lower production lifting pulses prices. Lower arrival of pulses has affected availability of raw material for dal mills exploring outstation markets for purchasing pulses.

Dal millers said, pulses processed in MP are about 1.5-2 per cent more expensive than neighbouring states due to transportation and mandi cess of 1.70 per cent levied by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Madhya Pradesh is a major centre for dal mills with around 700 dal mills in the state of which 160 in Indore.

Gujarat 2nd in solar, wind energy capacity

With a total of 8,887 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity and 9,925 MW of installed Wind Energy capacity,Gujaratranks second among all states in solar and wind power capacity, the Union Government informed the Rajya Sabha.
Replying to a question byRajya Sabha MPParimal Nathwani, Union power ministerR K Singhsaid that as of February 28, 2023, the installed capacity of wind energy in Gujarat was 8,887.72 MW while the installed solar generation capacity stood at 9,925.72 MW.

According to the statement of the minister, the top five states with the maximum installed solar energy capacities areRajasthan(16,405.75 MW), Gujarat (8,887.72 MW), Karnataka (8,110.48 MW),Tamil Nadu(6,536.77 MW), and Telangana (4,657.18 MW).

The top five states with maximum installed wind energy capacities are Tamil Nadu (9,983.12 MW), Gujarat (9,925.72 MW), Karnataka (5,276.05 MW), Maharashtra (5,012.83 MW), and Rajasthan (4,681.82 MW).
