Will give full support to develop agriculture sector in northeast: Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar

Unionagriculture and farmers welfare ministerNarendra Singh Tomarhas said that Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture is the country’s fastest growing sector and there will be no constraint of central funding for its development.

Referring to the northeast, he said the Centre and the northeast states governments are working together to develop the agriculture sector given its potential for .

The Centre has endeavoured to establish a link between research and farming and provide scientific advice to farmers at the ground level. The setting up of the institute as visualised by Prime MinisterNarendra Modiwill give an impetus to the development of agricultural Education and research in Arunachal Pradesh along with other northeastern states, he said.

The minister said the Centre is working to ensure that the country’s agricultural sector remains strong to be able to meet all challenges to make sure that there are sufficient food reserves at all times.

Assam Govt announces awardees of the Assam State Civilian Awards 2023

The Assam Government has announced recently the Assam State Civilian Awards for the year 2023 which is bestowed upon eminent personalities and figures for their commendable service towards the Society. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the same on Twitter and wrote, “As a recognition of their commendable service to the society, we are proud to announce names of 21 personalities chosen for the Assam State Civilian Awards 2023.”

The Assam State Civilian Award has three categories— Assam Baibhav Award, Assam Saurav Award and Assam Gaurav Award.

Seva is cornerstone of Indias healthcare model: Mansukh Mandaviya

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said seva (service) is the cornerstone of Indias model of healthcare, which was never treated as a commercial model. Addressing the fourth convocation of Aiims-Bhubaneswar, Mandaviya said the country that believes in service to mankind is service to God supplied medicines and Vaccines to over 140 countries, including free supplies to around 40 countries, and became the pharmacy of the world during the Covid pandemic.

Mandaviya recalled the contribution of doctors and nurses during the Covid-19 pandemic and said when the medical practitioners in some countries known for their robust healthcare preferred to skip hospital duty in fear of infection, the physicians in India sacrificed their family life and put their health at risk to treat Covid patients.

The minister urged the AIIMS students to wholeheartedly take the opportunity of service and responsibility that medical science brings. He said the sense of responsibility should align with the service to humanity.

The new initiatives of Heal in India and Heal by India will give an impetus to medical value by positioning the country as a global hub for medical and wellness tourism and also fulfil the demand for skilled and qualified medical and para-medical human resource across the globe, he said.

TN introduces new industry-centric polytechnic curriculum

Sandwich courses in several disciplines to engage in industrial training for six months each in IV and VII semesters will make students job-ready

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Nadu, in its N series of curriculum revisions, plans to increase the quality of polytechnic education so that the students become employable and get better salaries.

The students will be analysed for the primary skills, knowledge, attitudes, and technical competencies gained after the course.The curriculum design is planned by introducing relevant sandwich courses, current as well as future job roles of the sector, and collating appropriate content, and hands-on Learning experiences,

Kerala Assembly passes Bill for removing Governor as the Chancellor of universities

The Kerala Assembly passed the University Laws (Amendment) Bill to replace the Governor as the Chancellor of universities in the state and appoint eminent academicians in the top post, while the opposition UDF boycotted the House for not accepting its suggestions regarding the bill.

The bill was passed after hours long discussions during which the Congress-led UDF said it was not opposed to the removal of the Governor as Chancellor, but he should be selected from amongst retired Supreme Court judges and former Kerala chief justices.

No merger of Amul & Nandini: Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai

Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday clarified that there was no proposal to merge Amul and Nandini brands and that Union cooperation minister Amit Shah’s statement was being misinterpreted.

There is no merger of brands. Amul will remain as Amul and Nandini will continue as Nandini. There was absolute clarity in his statement that Amul and Nandini can have an exchange of ideas that will help grow both the brands,” said Bommai.

The CM, however, said the only cooperation between the two brands proposed by Shah was an exchange of technical and Marketing models.

Pitch in to develop new medical colleges, T Harish Rao urges NRI doctors from Telangana

Health minister T Harish Rao has urged NRI doctors and alumni of medical colleges settled in different countries to adopt the new medical colleges in the state to help improve medical Education and research. He assured them all assistance in taking up the mission.

The health minister said the state plans to construct superspeciality hospitals at Warangal, four TIMS medical centres around Hyderabad and an additional 2,000 beds at NIMS. In addition, eight medical colleges will be built by the end of this year and eight more the year after.

The NRI doctors include those from Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya and Telangana Medical Alumni of America (OGKTMA) comprising 20,000 doctors from the state. This body constitutes one of the largest and oldest Indian medical alumni in the US, the doctors said.

Tulips growing well in AP’s Chintapalli – first in south India

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden and the Mughal Gardens in Srinagar attract lakhs of tourists every year. The exotic flowers there, one of nature’s bounty, represent the worlds largest cultivation of ornamental Plants.

The Netherlands is the largest producer of Tulip flowers. In India, grown so far in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, such gardens are now coming up in Chintapalli village under the ASR district of Andhra Pradesh. These are cited as the first such large-scale cultivation in south India.

Tulips are excellent for cut flowers, beds and pots. They are grown in the open as well as in protected conditions. These are majorly grown in European countries like the Netherlands and Denmark.

For the first time in south India, the crop was tried in December 2021 by the regional agricultural research station (RARS) Chintapalli, under the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Guntur, but it couldnt get the plants to bear the flowers.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant seeks 90:10 fund sharing ratio with Centre

Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that he has requested Prime MinisterNarendra Modito allow fund sharing ratio of 90:10 between Centre and state in the case of implementation of central schemes in Goa. Sawant said that Goa has suffered due to delayed Liberation and stop in mining operations for the last 10 years.

The chief minister said that Goa will now require greater funding to create to support increased tourist numbers due to the opening of the new airport at Mopa.

Maharashtra bids to acquire 865 border villages in Karnataka

Days after the Karnataka legislature cleared a resolution on the inter-state border dispute saying it would not give an inch of land to Maharashtra, both houses of Maharashtra legislature on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to legally pursue inclusion of 865 Marathi-speaking villages and its citizens into the state and make all-out efforts to contest the ongoing case in Supreme Court. Among the villages to be included in Maharashtra are Belagavi (earlier Belgaum), Karwar, Bidar, Balki and Nipani.

The resolution, tabled by CM Shinde in the assembly, spoke about firmly standing behind the Marathi-speaking people of the 865 villages. The CM informed the House the government has roped in noted lawyer Harish Salve to represent Maharashtra in the SC.

The resolution also requested Karnataka government to abide by terms and conditions finalised during a meeting of its CM Basavaraj Bommai with Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis with union Home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi recently. It called upon the Karnataka government to ensure safety of Marathi-speaking people in these villages.
