Bamboo culture will be improved in Tripura

The Tripura government has started construction of its second bamboodepotat Chakmaghat at Khowai in West Tripura to promote cultivation and popularize the use of bamboo.
The first depot is located at Kumarghat in Unokoti, North Tripura.

Tripura has 21 varieties ofbamboobecause of texture and Climate. Despite growing demand for bamboo for household items, handicraft and Infrastructure development work, production and Marketing of bamboo has not been adequate over the past decade.

The e-Stamping system is in operational in the State since June 2016 wherein the e-Stamp Certificate is physically printed on a paper in token of payment of stamp duty for all types of instruments.

Having received a rude shock earlier this year with one of the majorelectric vehicle(EV) investments inOlato neighbouringTamil Nadu, theKarnatakagovernment on Thursday decided to revisit the 2017 EV andEnergystorage policy to provide a more competitive deal to retain promised investments and attract new investors.

The at its cabinet meeting decided to amend the 2017 policy by providing a substantial amount of sops including a 15 percent reimbursement on value of fixed assets (VFA), production linked subsidy and a training stipend.

The 2017 policy also spoke of providing a 50 per cent coverage on stipend for in-plant training provided by the EV manufacturers in the state to a maximum of Rs 10,000 per month per trainee for 50 trainees.

Land auctions hit by Covid, Telangana govts plans to mop up Rs 10,000 crore go awry

The governments plans to mobilise Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore by selling governmentlandappears to have gone awry for the second consecutive year. Though the government has identified some land parcels in the city and surrounding Rangareddy district to raise Money by auctioning the land, it could not go ahead thanks to the first wave of Covid-19 and now the second wave.

Senior officials are worried as the third wave of pandemic is likely to hit sometime in the third quarter of the year and land auctions may not be held this year too. Land auction was last conducted in December 2019 by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) was held in May 2017.

Vizag civic body to leverage UNDP programme for Covid control

The GreaterVisakhapatnamMunicipal Corporation (GVMC) has decided to leverage the programme run by United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), in association with theGovernment of India, to take upCovid-19prevention and control measures in the city.
GVMC will conduct decentralised activities at the ward level involving ward corporators, secretariats, the community and other stakeholders under the initiative. GVMC mayor G Hari Venkata Kumari has requested corporators to get involved with the programme which may help them deal with the present or future emergencies.

To carry out the UNDP-GoI (USAID) projects activities and city initiatives for long-term, Sustainability and Resilience Program (SRP) has been started by the establishment of Sustainability and Resilience Unit (SRU) in December 2020.

The purpose of SRP is to support the city as well as the state to achieve and improve resilience. The main components of SRP are Environment management, Disaster Management, Climate risk management, Human resource development, knowledge management, research and innovation, partnerships, collaborations and convergence.

Class VI-VIII syllabus will have coding & robotics from 2021-22

The government notified the Chief MinistersCodingandRoboticsEducation in Schools Scheme or CM-CARES, as per the announcement made in this years state budget. Theschemewill be implemented from the upcoming academic year, 2021-22, in government and government aidedhigh schools. The implementation will be in phases, starting with students of Class VI, VII and VIII.

Each government and aided high school will get a lab to implement the scheme. TEACHING sessions for the scheme will be held during class hours and also outside of regular school hours, states the scheme, which will be implemented through the directorate of technical Education.

The scheme will be implemented through existing computer teachers and additional teachers appointed on fellowship or contract basis for advanced training in Robotics, , machine Learning, etc.

Kolhapur: Rise in prey animals in conservation reserves is key ecological development, say foresters

Chief conservator of forests Clement Ben said, Thepreybase seems to be improving in the recently notified conservation reserve of forests in Kolhapur. The camera trap had not shown the presence of spotted deer in SahyadriTigerreserve area for the last seven years.

There is a need for strengthening the faunal monitoring mechanism in the recently notified conservation reserves owing to the tiger sightings and also its prey based animal count in the area.

Last year, the state wildlife board gave conservation reserve tag to the Amboli-Dodamarg, Chandgad, Ajara-Bhudargad, Gaganbawda, Panhalgad, Vishalgad and Jor-Jambhali ranges along the Western Ghats.
