The Adarsh Village ‘Sui’ in Haryana is inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, paid a visit to Sui village in Haryana’s Bhiwani district to launch a number of public projects.

Mahadevi Parameshwaridas Jindal Charitable Trust is developing this hamlet into an Adarsh Gram (Model village) under the Haryana Government’s Swa-Prerit Adarsh Gram Yojana (SPAGY) initiative.

At Sui village, President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife Savita Kovind planted a peepal tree.

The Jindal trust has invested approximately Rs 25 crore in the transformation of Sui into an ADARSH VILLAGE.

Finally, Punjab Govt releases Rs 54 cr for mid-day meal scheme

After 20 days of suspension of mid-day meals in most of the government and government-aided schools, the has released about Rs 54 crore as cooking cost to 19,700 schools.

The schools get cooking cost at the rate of Rs 4.97 per student for primary classes and Rs 7.45 for upper primary classes per student from the state government. The cooking cost under the scheme involves purchase of cooking oil, pulses, vegetables and condiments. Under the national programme, 60 per cent of the cooking cost is shared by the Centre and 40 per cent by the state.

Himachal 9th in smart policing survey

Ranked first among the northern states, the Himachal Pradesh Police have secured the 9th place in the country in Smart Policing Survey- 2021, conducted by the Indian Police Foundation (IPF) on the index of public perceptions and citizen satisfaction. The north India region includes J&K, Ladakh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Har-

yana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The state stood 9th among 29 states and Union Territories (UT) with 6.91 points out of 10. The Consolidated Smart Policing Index (CSPI) for each state/UT is based on their aggregate scores in six competence-based indices, three values-based indices and thrust on index of citizens trust in the police.

Himachal was better placed on value-based parameters and ranked 8th in fair, unbiased and lawful policing, with a score of 6.79, 9th in Integrity and Corruption-free service (6.60 points), 8th in public trust (7.17 points) and 10th in accountability (6.71 points).

The quality of policing was the highest in Andhra Pradesh, , Assam, Kerala, Sikkim, Mizoram and Gujarat, with an index value of seven and above. As many as 19 states/UTs, including Himachal, scored an index value between six and seven, while three states scored between five and six.

Himachal ranked 12th in perception score of police sensitivity (6.94) and 8th in strictness and good behaviour (6.98), better than the national Average. Further, the state ranked 10th in accessibility with a score of 7.11 and was placed seventh in responsiveness, with 7.20 points on a scale of 1-10. The state ranked 11th, with 6.85 points, in helpful and friendly policing, but was down at the 14th spot in technology adoption, with a score of 6.75.

Uttarakhand best among 10 Himalayan states in Swachh Survekshan

Improving its ranking by 95 points from 2020 to 2021,Uttarakhandhas emerged the best among the 10Himalayan statesin the sixth edition of the Swachh Survekshan, whose results were declared on Saturday.

For states with less than 100 cities, Uttarakhand ranked fourth nationally. But among theHimalayanstates, it was on top followed by Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland. However, according to experts the comparison is not a fair one because of differences in the Population margins of these states.

Among the 720 cities with less than 25,000 population, Uttarakhands Muniki Reti ranked 11 but experts believe that several state cities are at a very bad position for this to be a significant achievement.

PM Hands Over Advanced Electronic Warfare System Shakti To The Indian Navy In Jhansi (UP)

In the Uttar Pradesh city of Jhansi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over an advanced electronic warfare system known as ‘Shakti’ to the Navy on 19 November 2021.

Highlights:

Shakti is designed to intercept, detect, classify, identify, and jam both traditional and modern radars. Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) built it for the Navy’s capital warships.

The Prime Minister also presented the Chief of the Naval Staff with a miniature replica of the Shakti EW System at Jhansi Fort as part of the three-day ‘Raksha Samarpan Parv,’ .

Shakti will improve the navy’s electronic intelligence capability for early warning, ship defense against missile assault, marine domain awareness, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and assure electronic dominance in maritime warfare, according to the announcement made at the ceremony.

Jamshedpur City has improved its position to 12th at the national Swachh Survekshan Awards. In 2020, it ranked 13th. The awards were given out at Delhis Vigyan Bhavan. The event titled Swachh Amrit Mahotsav was organised by the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MOHUA).

Jamshedpur has rapidly improved its position at these Awards from 2017 onwards when it was at 64th rank . Tata Steel Utilities and Services Limited (erstwhile JUSCO) has been working closely with the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) to improve the citys standing at these awards.

As a result of their joint efforts the Jamshedpur has also bagged three additional awards this year. In the Prerak Dauur Samman award category for Waste Management (segregation, processing, recycling, and sanitation status), Jamshedpur has been awarded the Gold Category (Anupam) Award.

In the Safai Mitra Suraksha Challenge category that evaluates safety arrangements for garbage collectors and sanitary workers, Jamshedpur has been ranked second in the entire country in the 3-10 lakh Population category, behind Indore.

Apart from that, Jamshedpur City has also been awarded a 3-star rating in the star rating system for Garbage Free Cities. The awards were received jointly by Suraj Kumar, DC, East Singhbhum, Krishna Kumar, JNAC Special Officer and Captain Dhananjay Mishra, senior general manager, Jharkhand Business, Tata Steel UISL.

Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India and was launched as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This year, 4340 cities and 62 cantonment zones participated in the awards competition.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is now in the process of conducting the sixth edition of the survey to rank all cities under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban with Quality Council of India as its implementation partner.

The objective of the survey is to encourage large scale citizen participation, ensure sustainability of initiatives taken towards garbage free and open defecation free cities. It aims to provide credible outcomes which would be validated by third party certification, institutionalise existing systems and create awareness.

Enrolment in govt schools up by 3.6% in Bihar: ASER

Despite the Covid challenges, enrolment of children in 6-14 age group in the government schools in Bihar has increased by 3.6% in the last one year, according to the 16th edition ofAnnual Status of Education Reportreleased.

The number of children enrolled in government schools increased from 76.9% in 2020 to 80.5% in 2021, compared to 2.8% rise in the last three years since 2018. The report also revealed that more children from the rural background took admission in the government schools, compared to private schools, between 2018 and 2021.

The report was based on a survey conducted in the rural areas of 581 districts across 25 states and 3 union territories between September and October this year. It covered 76,706 households, 75,234 children in 5-16 age group besides teachers and staff of 7,300 government schools.

Significantly, the proportion of both boys and girls enrolled in government schools across all grades increased from 2020 to 2021. The Percentage of girls enrolled went up from 80.9% in 2020 to 82.9% in 2021 while the boys enrolment increased from 73.2% in 2020 to 78.2% this year.

As per the report, the availability of smartphones to the enrolled kids also increased from 27.2% in 2018 to 54.4% in 2021. However, only 11.8% kids have access to studies all the time while 34.4% used the device for limited periods for education purpose. A large section of almost 53.8% enrolled kids still have no electronic devices for studies.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday called upon farmers to leave dependency on chemical fertilizer. Instead, he urged them to use vermicompost or super compost manures.

He said Chhattisgarh was saved from a shortage of chemical fertilizer this Kharif season only because of vermicompost and super compost produced at the Gauthans. All this was because of blessings of Ma Kaushalya and Gau Mata.

These manures were a better alternative and keeping in view the possibility of shortage of chemical fertilizer like DAP in the future, the farmers should start using producing vermicompost and super compost, Baghel said.

Their use will also reduce the cost of farming, he added.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Hanuwantia is as beautiful as Sentosa Island in Singapore. It was during his visit to Sentosa Island that he got the inspiration to develop Hanuwantia as a tourist destination. The deep blue water here is like the ocean. The people of cities yearn to see such a sight. Today Hanuwantia has a special place in Madhya Pradesh tourism.

Chouhan said that along with cultural activities, various adventure activities like scuba diving, joy ride, hot air balloon etc. would be started in Hanuwantia. Tourists will also be able to enjoy sitting in a helicopter. Chouhan on Saturday launched Jal Mahotsav 2021-22 at Hanuwantia, a tourist destination of Khandwa district.

The Chief Minister congratulated all the concerned for the Awards received by Madhya Pradesh in Swachchh Survekshan. Indore city of Madhya Pradesh has been the first in the country for the fifth consecutive time in the Swachchh Survekshan. Other areas of the State have also set records in cleanliness. Chouhan congratulated Mundi for coming first in the country in the category of garbage free cities having 25,000 Population.

Farmers in Gujarat to get Rs 1,500 government aid to purchase smartphones

TheGujaratgovernment has decided to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 1,500 to farmers in the state for purchasing a smartphone, as per a notification issued by the state Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department.

The scheme is meant to encourage the farmers to buysmartphoneswhich could be used for various purposes towards increasing their farm income, at a time when the prevalence of digital Services in the field of agriculture is growing every day, it said.

Any landholding farmer in Gujarat can apply for the assistance of 10 per cent of the total cost of a smartphone not exceeding Rs 1,500 on i-khedut portal to avail of the benefit of this scheme.

The assistance is valid only for the cost of the smartphone and not for any other accessories such as power backup device, earphones, charger etc., it said. All landholding farmers are eligible for this scheme, but only one beneficiary in a joint holding farm will be eligible.
