MoU inked for Manipur film archive

TheManipurState Film Development Society (MSFDS), a undertaking, on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mumbais Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) for setting up afilm archiveofManipuricinema inImphal.

MSFDS will be setting up the film archive to save the cinematic heritage of Manipur, said MSFDS secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, who signed the MoU with FHFs founder-directorShivendra Singh Dungarpurat the societys complex.

FHF being a non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting conservation, preservation, and restoration of film heritage in India, will provide technical and intellectual consultancy and support to MSFDS in starting the archive.

Assam gets 1 lakh more vaccination doses, but not enough to start statewide drive

Assamhas received 1 lakh more Covishield doses, taking the total vaccine availability in the state to 3.25 lakh doses, ahead of the inoculation drive for the 18-44 age group set to begin at 26 Covidvaccination centresin greater Guwahati.

Kendrapada village to get museum centred around Gandhis visit

To honourMahatma Gandhis visit to the state in 1934, the site where the freedom fighter had taken a bath during hispadayatrain Kendrapada district then will be turned into a museum.

A khadi cloth sales counter, a photo gallery, a library and a conference hall will be part of the proposed museum.

The padayatra by Gandhi was one of the most important events in the countrys freedom struggle. He allowed dalits to enter temples in some villages during his long walk inOdishain 1934.

Tamil Nadu government deputes nodal ministers for seven more districts

The on Saturday deputed nodal ministers for seven more districts, including Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Krishnagiri, Thanjavur, Theni and Kanyakumari.
Earlier, nodal ministers were deputed in highly-infected 14 districts.

The ministers had been deputed to pay special attention in the highly-infected districts and ensure the enforcement of total lockdown measures, besides coordination ofCovidcontrol and treatment, said an official release.

The demise of noted environmentalist and leaderSunderlal Bahuguna, 94, is a personal loss for the eco fragile hill district ofWayanad, which had been dear to the heart of the green crusader.

Bahuguna had visited Wayanad several times to take part in various environmental agitations waged by Wayanad Prakrithi Samrakshana Samithi (WPSS) to protect the forests of the hill district and shared closed Bonds with the leaders of the Samithi.

Telangana govt appoints VCs for 10 universities

Almost two years after vice-chancellors (VCs) of various universities demitted office, the government has appointed vice chancellors for ten state universities. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan cleared the names of new VCs following the recommendations of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The second biggest and oldest university Kakatiya university, Warangal also got the head of the university from the same institution.

Of the 10 universities, the government has ensured representation to all the major communities in the state.

Actor Sonu Sood to set up two oxygen plants in Andhra Pradesh

ActorSonu Soodis coming to the rescue ofCovid-19patients inAndhra Pradesh. Sood, who rose to fame with his charity works to the needy since the start of the pandemic last year, tweeted on Saturday that he would soon establish two Oxygen units in the state.

Goa: Entire Ponda town to get piped natural gas by December

Goa Natural Gas, a joint venture ofGas Authority of India Ltd(GAIL) and Bharat Petroleum Ltd, had launched the gas distribution project for the town on May 22, 2017. Goa Natural Gas has been authorised by thePetroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Boardto lay the piped gas network forNorth Goa.

Maharashtra government asks industry to submit list of SOPs for approval
