Assam govt and NDDB to form SPV

The National Development Board (NDDB) and Assam government will form a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to promote dairying in Assam. Officiating chairman of NDDB Meenesh Shah presented Assams dairy development roadmap before Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in Guwahati.

The CM emphasized that initiatives should be commercially viable and sufficiently remunerative for the dairy farmers of Assam. Shah said that the plan will include creating processing infrastructures, village level institutions and Marketing of milk and milk products.

Assam government had earlier requested NDDB to manage the West Assam Cooperative Milk Union (WAMUL) which was on verge of closure. NDDB had taken over its management in 2008.

Odisha to push Centre for second AIIMS at Sundargarh, says CM Naveen Patnaik

Chief ministerNaveen Patnaik said the would follow up with the Centre for establishment of a second Aiims atSundargarh.

Sundargarh has a huge contribution in the development of the state. The boys and girls here have brought glory to the state and country. In honour of the contribution of Sundargarh, the state government has been continuously demanding establishment of second AIIMS at Sundargarh, said Naveen.

The state government on November 24, 2020, had written a letter to the Centre to establish a second AIIMS at Sundargarh by utilizing the Infrastructure, jointly developed by the state government andNTPCfor medical college and hospital, which is likely to be functional from the next academic year.

Tamil Nadu makes Temple land grabbing a non-bailable offence

The Nadu Assembly passed a Bill on September 13, 2021 that made the encroachment of properties of religious institutions a cognisable and non-bailable offence.

The Bill that seeks to amend the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959.

Bill was passed unanimously empowering anyone, who is having interest in the affairs of religious institution matters, to file a complaint against encroachers and temple land encroachment.

Bill will amend the section 79-B of the Act of 1959.

The Tamil Nadu government recently launched a massive drive to retrieve temple lands, encroached in the state.

The bill was passed in Light of increasing instances of encroachments of properties belonging to religious institutions. This offence is serious in nature. Thus, the government considered that criminal complaint may be filed by any person who are interested in the affairs of the religious institution.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the objective of the National Education Policy is to make India a super knowledge power in the field of education in the world. This education policy will make the youth more skilled. He said that the mantra of our country is ‘Aa no bhadra: kratovo yantu vishwato’. That is, we welcome good ideas from all sides. This is our culture.

He further said that the National Education Policy-2020 also emphasises on the all-inclusive idea of Indian culture. It respects diversity. He said that education has no importance without social responsibility. The National Education Policy is supposed to promote social responsibility within the student.

Gold exploration to resume in Karnataka

The Union ministry of mines has handed 7 blocks of gold mining to the Karnataka government in a bid to consolidate the nations mineral security.

The G-4 stage blocks, which are primarily ready for mineral exploration after preliminary assessment, will be up for grabs and the will have to auction them to generate revenue.

The seven blocks of gold mining which have been identified are in Kakol and Sevanagar in Haveri district, Belaghatta and Katanahatti in Chitradurga district, Marutipur spread across Dharwad and Haveri districts, Kanivehalli located across Ballari and Davanagere districts and Mududi in Hassan district. According to GSI sources, the Union Government has allowed conducting an auction of mining activities in 220 sqkm of the potential mineral area including gold and limestone under the new MMDR amendments.

Hyderabad organization ICRISAT has been awarded

Hyderabad organization ICRISAT (International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics) has been awarded the Africa Food Prize for 2021 for improving meals security in sub-Saharan Africa. The Tropical Legumes Project developed 266 types of extended legumes and half of a million tons of seeds for a variety of legume crops, which includes cowpeas, pigeon peas, chickpea, frequent bean, groundnut, and soybean. The accelerated seeds benefitted over 25 million farmers in Climate-resilient tactics and to manage pest outbreaks throughout the region.

Andhra Pradesh govt asks discoms to be consumer-centric

Power purchasearrears and operating expenses reached the Rs 32,000 crore mark in April 2019, up from Rs 12,500 crore in June 2014. Withdiscomsfacing a severe financial crisis, the came to their rescue and released Rs 28,166 crore to power companies between 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Of the total electricity subsidy arrears of Rs 13,388 crore as on March 31, 2019, the state government released Rs 11,442 crore between 2019 and 2021. It also provided Rs 16,724 crore forpower subsidyand other charges during the same period. Discoms paid Rs 64,007 crore towards power purchase costs.

Tarball deposits a mystery on Goa beaches, will write to Centre: Environment minister Nilesh Cabral

After large blobs of tar left sand across Goas beach stretches scarred with the black substance, Environment ministerNilesh Cabralsaid that this is one of the worst occurrences of tarball deposits seen on Goas beaches.
Cabral said that the state is going to write to theCentreagain over the issue, as the state has little control over the source of origin of these tarballs.

Cabral said that the tarballs have surfaced not only on Goas beaches this week, but their appearance is being seen all along thewest coastof India.

The movement of oil tankers has reduced a lot due to pandemic-related restrictions. Earlier, the tar was thought to be coming from the oil tankers. But it is surprising that such widespread deposits are seen this year despite reduced movement of tankers. This year, the tarballs on Goas beaches are much more than earlier.

IIT-Bombay launches Project Udaan

IIT-Bombay launched its Project Udaan on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on September 14, 2021.

Project Udaan was launched with the aim of breaking the language barrier that many students face while joining the institutes of higher Education.

Project Udaan enables the translation of textbooks and other study material of the engineering and other streams from English to Hindi & other Indian Languages. This project was envisaged by Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan from Department of Computer Science & Engineering in IIT Bombay. It is a donation based and -based translation ecosystem. It helps in translating engineering textbooks and Learning materials in one-sixth the time as compared to manual tasking. This machine translation will be aided by human effort.

Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency gets energy efficiency award

The Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM), India, awarded the Haryana Development Agency (HAREDA) the SEEM Best Performance Award 2020 for putting their best efforts towards improving Energy Efficiency. Along with HAREDA, the Chhattisgarh agency and Kerala centre were also awarded. Dr Hanif Qureshi, HAREDA director-general, said the government was also committed for the promotion of renewable energy
