Haryana govt signs MoU with Dubai for economic cooperation

The Haryana government has finalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Dubai, the governing authority of the Emirate of Dubai, for cooperation in various economic activities.

These activities include promotion and land development, including but not limited to real estate development, industrial parks, IT parks, multi-purpose towers, mixed use townships, innovation centres and projects related to Logistics in Haryana, the State Government said in a statement on Friday.

Under the terms of the MoU finalized earlier this week, the Government of Dubai will identify a suitable entity to assist with identifying the potential areas of collaboration assessing the viability of projects and finalisation of definitive agreements and support the state government in identifying potential investors based in UAE.

The MoU is expected to boost investment in Haryana and strengthen the Bonds of economic and cultural ties between Dubai and Haryana, it said.

Haryana with strategic locational advantage, robust industrial Infrastructure, strong connectivity, robust policy frameworks and large pool of skilled manpower has emerged as one of India’s most industrialized states, it said.

Swachh Survekshan 2022: Chandigarh is Indias 12th cleanest city

Moving up from rank 66 in the last Swacch Sarvekshan, Chandigarh secured the 12th cleanest city tag in Swachh Survekshan 2022 and was adjudged the Fastest Moving Capital city in the Country.

Chandigarh, one of the countrys best-planned cities, has seen a huge improvement from its 66th position in the Swachh Survekshan 2021, when it lacked proper garbage disposal and did not score well in citizens feedback on how clean the city was. Learning from the drawbacks, the Corporation this time put concerted efforts in these segments and managed to secure the 12th spot.

In this years Swachh Survekshan, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gave more weightage to Service Level Progress component (sustainable sanitation and safaimitra Suraksha, Segregated collection of waste and processing and disposal) category by allotting 40 percent marks, a major criteria in deciding the outcome of Chandigarhs ranking.

Shimla to get 24X7 water supply by 2025

Shimla residents will get round the clock high-pressure tap water supply by 2025. The Board of Directors of Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) awarded the tender for the project to Suez India for Rs 683 crore. The company will complete the project by 2025.

The round the clock water supply is one of the three components of the over Rs 1,800 crore -funded Shimla Water Supply and Sewerage Services. The other two components are Bulk Water Supply from the Sutlej river and strengthening and extension of sewerage services in the city and nearby areas. While the work on bulk water supply has already begun, tenders for augmentation of sewerage services will be floated shortly.

To ensure round the clock water supply, around 70 per cent of the pipes of the current distribution Network will be replaced with broader pipes. Also, around 40 storage tanks up to the capacity of 5 million litre will be built across the city to ensure regular and smooth distribution. Besides, the distribution system will be digitalised.

Minister launched Himalaya Darshan helicopter service from Everest estate

Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj formally inaugurated the Himalaya Darshan helicopter service from the George Everest estate near Mussoorie last week.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said that the is consistently moving ahead towards developing tourism and as part of such efforts the Himalaya Darshan service has been started. He said that tourists will be able to view the high Himalayan peaks and picturesque aspects of Uttarakhand by helicopter using this service. He exhorted domestic and foreign tourists to visit Uttarakhand and enjoy the Himalaya Darshan helicopter service which takes off from Everest estate and lands back at the same site.

Uttar Pradesh: Milk production policy to bring Rs 5,000 crore, create 1.25 lakh jobs

TheCabinetcleared the UPMilkDevelopment and Milk Production Promotion Policy 2022, paving the way for investments in the sector in the state and creation of about 1.25 lakh jobs.

The policy will be effective for five years from the time of notification. An official said that the government hopes to get investments of up to Rs 5,000 crore in the sector over the next five years. The plan is to increase the level of milk processing from the current 10% to 25% and increase the marketable surplus of processed milk from 44% to 65%.

A subsidy of 10% up to a maximum of Rs 5 crore will be given for setting up milk processing Plants, or Investment in plant, machinery, technical or civil work for the expansion of existing plants. A Rs 10 crore interest subsidy over five years will also be given. For the first time, the government will also give a subsidy of Rs 7.5 crore on setting up a cattle feed factory.

The Cabinet also cleared the Textile and Garment Policy 2022. The special aim of this policy is to attract investments of Rs 10,000 crore in the textile sector, creating jobs for 5 lakh persons, establishing apparel parks and ensuring an increase of about 50% in the income of weavers.

Under the policy, a 25% subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 100 crore will be given on investments in plants and machinery for textile and garments units. An additional subsidy of 5% will be given to units that are set up inMandhyanchaland 10% to those set up in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.

District officials ‘adopt’ schools in Jharkhand to improve standard of education post Covid

Senior officials in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district have “adopted” 187government-run schoolsto help improve the standard of Education in the institutions in view of the disruptions caused by theCOVID-19 pandemic. Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadav has adopted one middle school each in Patamda, Ghatsila, Dumaria and Baharagora in the district, as part of the ‘Abua Aasdra’ (Our School) initiative.

The objective behind launching ‘Abua Aasdra’ was to achieve quality education in government-run middle schools by implementing welfare schemes, and bring about a constructive change in the Learning practices of students.

Bihar: Government schools to hold P-T meet for Class 1 students

For the first time, all the government primary schools of the state will hold parent-teacher meetings for Class I students on October 20 with a view to apprising the guardians of the academic progress of their wards.

According to an initiative taken by theBihar Education Project Council(BEPC), parents of about 20 lakh children enrolled in Class I of different government primary schools in the state have been called in schools to discuss their wards’ progress with the teachers. The guardians would be apprised with the shortcomings or weaknesses, if any, of their wards and also the ways for improvement.

It may be mentioned here that on the pattern of Nipun Bharat Mission (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) initiated by the Union education ministry under the SamagraShiksha Abhiyan, the launched Nipun Bihar Mission this year to ensure foundational Literacy and numeracy skills of children.

Under this, children will be made proficient in reading and writing, recognizing alphabets, interpreting its meaning, addition and subtraction and solving other numerical activities related to age.

Narva scheme benefitting rural population, wildlife

Largescale water harvesting structures are being built in Chhattisgarh to conserve water and to ensure its availability throughout the year for the rural Population as well as wildlife.

These structures bring numerous benefits. It keeps the moisture in tact in the forest while drinking water is ensured for both wild animals and villagers.

Under the allocation received by the Forest Department in Part-2 of the Annual Action Plan 2020-21 of CAMPA fund, an earthen dam has been built in Karrepara in Pondum village in the Bijapur forest division.

The people of Adiguda, Pallevaya, Patarpaara and Pondum have received EMPLOYMENT with the construction of the 172-meter earthen dam. Its catchment area is 40.03 acres and the watershed area is 4.84 acres.

In the water harvesting units, the Forest Department is encouraging the villagers to conduct income-oriented activities like fish farming.

CM Teerth Yojana: Air services for pilgrims by Feb

The Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana by air would start in February. The beneficiaries would be taken toRameshwaramfrom Indore. The selection of beneficiaries would be done through a lottery at the districts level.Madhya Pradeshwould become the first state to take pilgrims by air under a government scheme. Around 400 devotees would be taken in a batch.

The idea of taking senior citizens by air for pilgrimage was first discussed earlier this year after which the process was initiated.

Gujarat fourth in India in number of dog bites

Residents ofGujaratsuffer the fourth highest number of stray dog bites in the country. Only Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal have more bites. The number of dog bites in the state fell by 55.4% in 2021, compared to 2020.

The Union ministry of Fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying had tabled the data on stray dog bites in reply to a question fromA M Ariff, the MP from Alappuzha in Kerala. Ariff sought to know whether attacks on humans and other domestic animals by stray dogs are increasing in the country. He also asked if the government has taken any steps to recognize organizations undertaking sterilization of dogs across the country.

The reply stated that there has been a consistent decline in stray dog bites in the Gujarat. From 4.8 lakh bites in the state in 2019, the number fell to 1.92 lakh in 2021. From January 1 to July 22, 2022, this number was just 5,459.

The data tabled shows across India, bites by stray dogs have reduced to 17.01 lakh in 2021 from 72.78 lakh in 2019. However, from January 1 to July 22, 2022, there have been 14.5 lakh bites reported.
