Focus on digital infrastructure, road projects to boost development in Arunachal Pradesh: CM Pema Khandu

The Arunachal Pradesh government is focusing on strengthening digital and construction of roads during the current calendar year to improve connectivity and boost development in the northeastern state, chief ministerPema Khandusaid.
The authorities will emphasise on completion of two vital projects in 2022 Tali road in Kra Daadi district and Miao-Vijaynagar in Changlang, he said.

Arunachal Pradesh became a state in 1987.

Noting that road connectivity remains the most challenging issue in the northeastern state, the CM said his government would ensure the early completion of the two projects. Tali andVijaynagarare yet to be connected by roads.

Under the digital connectivity programme, various core infrastructure projects, includingNational Optical Fibre NetworkandState Wide Area Networkare in progress, the CM said.

Naveen push to 24×7 power infra

Chief ministerNaveen Patnaik saidOdishais investing significantly in power to ensure 24×7 supply to all in the state.

Addressing the orientation programme of the new recruits of the state-ownedOdisha Power Transmission Corporation Limitedover a videoconference, the chief minister said the State Government has given utmost thrust to build quality power infrastructure as electricity is the prime mover of economy.

Naveen said recently Rs 1,800 crore has been sanctioned to construct 99 33-KV primary substations in a bid to strengthen Odishas distribution Network.
The chief minister urged the new employees to follow the 5T mantra of his government.

Tamil Nadu has 6.4crore voters: ECI

Naduhas 6.4crore voters, with Women voters outnumbering their male counterparts, according to final electoral rolls released by the Election Commission of India on Wednesday.
According to theSpecial Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, 2022 released by the chief electoral officer, male voters accounted for 3,12,26,759 of the total electorate while there were 3,23,91,250 female voters. The state has 7,804 third gender voters.

The highest electorate in TN is inSholinganallurassembly constituency in Chengalpet which has 7,11,755 voters, followed byKavundampalayamin Coimbatore while the lowest electorate was fromKilvelurin Nagapattinam district with 1,78,517 voters.

Kovalam to soon host tourism promotion meet

Kovalamwill host a three-day destination promotion meet of major tour operators in the country and other stakeholders in tourism.

The campaign is being organised by SouthKeralahoteliers forum (SKHF) in association with Kerala tourism and tourism professionals club (TPC).

The objectives of the meet include destination promotion, business-to-business (B2B) meets to work out mutually beneficial packages to promote prime destinations in the state.
The visiting tour operators will be taken through the prime spots in Kovalam, Varkala and nearby Poovar as part of the promotion drive.

15-17 years: 25% of target population in Karnataka inoculated

The government said nearly 25% of its target Population of teenagers in the 15-17 years age group have been inoculated with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The target population for the vaccination drive, is an estimated 31.7 lakh children, most of whom are school students.

Data from the state Health department showed just under eight lakh children were administered the first dose as on Tuesday evening.

The highest Percentage of doses administered was recorded in Chamarajanagar district with 42% (19,322 out of 45,474 children) and the lowest coverage was reported in Gadag district, where only 10% (5,578 out of 55,880) took the shot.

The other top districts in terms of percentage coverage are Uttar Kannada (40%), Bagalkot (40%), Belagavi (36%) and Ballari (36%). Shivamogga (17%), Kalaburagi (16%), Ramanagara (16%) are at the bottom of the table. While Bangalore Urban has vaccinated 25% of its target population (14,800 out of 60,065), Bangalore Rural has reached 20% (9,869 out of 48,865).

Telangana govt seeks RBI nod to raise Rs 13,000 crore loan in final quarter

government has requested permission from theReserve Bank Of India(RBI) to raise another Rs 13,562 croreloanin thefinal quarterof the current financial year.

With this, the total loan raised this year will be Rs 48,562 crore and the cumulative loan burden will reach 2.86 lakh crore. But Telangana’s fiscal Health seem reasonable when compared nationally as it will still be second last in terms of the ratio of gross domestic product as a Percentage of loans.

The loan requirement is mostly to feed the state’s ambitious welfare programmes. Despite the economic slowdown due to Covid-19, the state had managed to achieve a good Growth rate, but the income is not enough to finance its schemes as payments for it have also increased proportionately.

This fiscal year the State Government intends to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme and has also begun releasing funds for Rythu Bandhu.
The state government was scheduled to raise Rs 8,000 crore, Rs 6,000 crore and Rs 6,295 crore in the first, second and third quarter of the year respectively, according to the original indicative loan calendar. The rest of the requirements were to be raised in the fourth quarter.

According to the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, 25% of the state’s total GDP can be considered the upper limit of the total loans raised by the state.

Action plan for achieving energy efficiency in housing scheme

Housing Minister Ch. Sri Ranganadha Raju has said that the houses being constructed under the Navaratnalu – Pedalandariki Illu (NPI) scheme will not only fulfil the dream of the poor to own a house but also contribute to the countrys long-term commitment of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Andhra Pradesh is keen on contributing to Indias commitment of reaching net-zero emissions by 2070 by implementing Energy Efficiency measures in the countrys biggest housing programme in the State. This will also benefit the beneficiaries in the form of reduction in power bills.

The government had sanctioned 15.6 lakh houses under the PMAY-YSR Urban Scheme and PMAY-YSR Gramin Scheme in the first phase and targeted to complete them by June 2022. He said the construction of 10.72 lakh houses in 10,055 layouts had already commenced.

Goa govt empowers judges to decide on name change pleas

The rising trend of non-Goans acquiring names and surnames of Goans has forced the government to amend theGoa Change of Name and Surname Act, 1990.
The start cabinet on Thursday granted approval for the amendments wherein the powers are now vested with the civil judge junior division and district judge to decide on name change applications. It necessitates that the applicants parents or grandparents births must be registered in Goa.

Earlier, the power was vested with either the sub-registrar or the chief registrar for births and deaths.

The government has received various complaints that non-Goans whose births are registered in Goa are availing the Services under the said Act, and changing their surnames to suit their needs akin to the names of Goans.

Set up medical boards under MTP Act, Bombay HC tells Maharashtra govt

Though required to constitute medical boards under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act to diagnose any substantial foetal anomaly, the state ofMaharashtrahas not done so thus far.

The HC noted that under the amendedMTP Actof 2021, the limitation to terminate a pregnancy, while extended from 20 to 24 weeks, carves out an exception in cases of foetal abnormalities.

The medical board has to consist of a gynaecologist, a paediatrician, a radiologist and other members notified by the state, says the amended Act which under section 2 (c) requires every state to notify the board.

Haryana leading State in solar pumps installation: CM

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said that the state is leading in the country as regard to the installation of solar water pumps to promote micro-Irrigation under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Utthaan Mahabhiyan(PM-KUSUM).

The Chief Minister provided solar pumps to the farmers during a digital inauguration programme held through video conferencing here. Khattar also released a booklet of the Solar Water Pumping Programme and a utility booklet for the farmers. He said that the government is giving 75 percent subsidy on these solar pumps.

The Chief Minister directed that the tubewells of less than 50 hp which are running on electricity and are being used for Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture purposes should be shifted to in the state.
