Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh Speakers for joint dialogue

Speakers of the three legislative Assemblies of Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh held a press conference today and urged for a joint dialogue and Learning from innovative experiments of each others states.

Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, Gian Chand Gupta; Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Kultar Singh Sandhwa; and Speaker of HP Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, addressed the conference.

Anurag: Centre of excellence in Hamirpur to promote sports

Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, today said that a centre of excellence would be set up in Hamirpur to hone young sporting talents and promote Sports.

Thakur was speaking at the Hamir Sangam organised by the Hamirpur Welfare Association at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) here. The centre of excellence, which will spot young talent and prepare Olympiad-level sportspersons, will be established in Hamirpur in the next two years, he said.

Govt adds oxygen concentrators to artificial organs list

The Uttar Pradesh Government has amended the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Medical Care) Rules 2011 to include Oxygen concentrators in the list of artificial organs.

This move will enable serving and retired officers and employees of the state to claim reimbursement on the purchase of an oxygen concentrator, CPAP machine and BIPAP machine, if required due to Health reasons. The will reimburse the amount of the purchase.

The decision was taken in the wake of the oxygen crisis witnessed across the country during the second wave of Covid-19. The state government has taken several measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of oxygen, such as building new oxygen Plants in hospitals and allowing companies to convert their units into oxygen plants during emergencies.

The government has now decided to reimburse serious patients in need of oxygen concentrators and issued guidelines for the same. Only claims approved by the concerned doctor in the prescribed application format will be considered for reimbursement.

20 schools to get air quality monitors

To educate children about airpollution, air quality monitors will be setup at 20 schools by SwitchON Foundation, a non-profit organization. On the occasion of Earth Day, the foundation announced the installation of real-time air quality monitors in 80 prominent schools and institutions in West Bengal,Jharkhand, and Odisha.

According to World Air Quality Report, 2021, India ranked fifth most polluted among 117 countries, regions and territories.

The non-profit organization’s team, along with experts and advisors, will instruct students on how to use the air quality data from these monitors and government monitors, prepare reports, raise awareness on their campus and in their community, and take positive action throughout the academic year. The monitors will report minute-by-minute variations in air quality and issue alerts if pollution levels increase.

Health surveillance unit in city soon: Govt

Additional chief secretary (Health) PratyayaAmrit said a metropolitan surveillance unit would be established inPatnasoon with the assistance of the central government to respond promptly in the event of outbreak of infectious diseases.

Addressing a workshop on Expansion of IDSP/IHIP in Bihar, organised by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Union ministry of health and family welfare and the State Health Society,Bihar(SHSB), Amrit said, Indias response and preparedness in digital technology and the game-changing , which will have to be primarily led by the younger generation, will ultimately determine its future prospects.
The event was organized in association with the Centre for Health Policy (CHP) at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI).

Cgarh raises concern over protocol violation

The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday raised concern over violation of protocol during a visit by the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal team.

The tribunal is on a visit to Chhattisgarh and Odisha over the sharing of waters of the Mahanadi basin.

The Chhattisgarh government said it was unfortunate that ahead of the tribunal’s visit to Odisha news was being published contrary to the spirit of joint protocol agreed upon between the two states.

The storage capacity of Odisha’s Hirakud Reservoir on the Mahanadi is much more than the storage capacities of all the reservoirs in the Mahanadi basin in Chhattisgarh put together. So, Odisha has no reason to complain about water shortage.

Odisha has an exploitative Water Resource Management of the Mahanadi Basin, Chhattisgarh said.

State level Wrestling Championship in which participants from almost all the districts of Madhya Pradesh took part concluded in Ujjain.

Players from the Gwalior Arm-wrestling Academy won a total of 41 medals in the event.

Speaking to media persons here today, President of Gwalior Arm-wrestling Welfare Association, Keshav Pandey said that the associations morale has been boosted by the recent performance where Sachin Goyal became the Madhya Pradesh Kesari for the third time in a row. He added that about 450 participants from various districts of the state had taken part in the competition.

Gujarat mango exports set to scale new heights

With increased demand from the US, exports of mangoes from Gujarat are expected to scale new heights and grow by at least 45%, suggest estimates by Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Limited (GAICL).
The sweet, succulent, tropical burst of flavours packed in Gujarat’s mangoes are in high demand in the international market too.
For instance, Gujarat recorded direct exports of 445 metric tonne (MT) mangoes to the United Kingdom and Middle East in 2022-23, according to GAICL. However, an additional demand coming from the US with orders pouring in huge volumes has already led Gujarat’smangocultivators to export 65 MT to the USA alone. This accounts for a lion’s share of 55% of the total mango exports from Gujarat at 114 MT so far, according to GAICL. Exports are expected to increase as the season progresses.
The United States Department of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) has approved the Gujarat Agro Radiation Processing Facility (GARPF) in July 2022. This gives Gujarat’s mango farmers and exporters an added advantage with additional demand pouring from the US.

Rural and Urban Olympics to start from June 23

The first edition of Rajiv GandhiUrbanOlympic Games and second edition ofRural Olympic Gameswill start from June 23, announcedRajasthansports ministerAshok Chandna. He also inaugurated the web portal for players’ registration for theRural Gameswhich is now operational for use.

“Last year, a budget of Rs 40 crore was sanctioned by the , while this year Rs 130 crore has been set aside for the two Games which will be flagged off on International Olympic Day (June 23) and conclude on International Sport Day (August 26). TheUrban Gamesand Rural Games will be organised at three and four levels respectively,” the Sports minister said.

Earlier theUrban Olympicswere scheduled for January 26, but things did not materialize. Around 9.50 lakh people registered for the same and those names will be added to the news entries which will come once registration portal for the urban Games reopens. “We will restart the registration process for the Urban Olympics very soon,” the sports minister said.
