The Manipur state government has sought the help of the center to alleviate the forest fire at the top of Shirui Mountain in Ukhrul District, Manipur. Shirui Kashong Peak:

Shirui Kashong Peak is one of the tourist attractions in the Ukhrul area of Manipur. It is 2835m above sea level. This mountain has two main attractions: Barry Lily and the river that traverses Ukhrul. Shirui Kashong Peak is located in the Ukhrul district of Manipur.

Rare Lilium mackliniae (Shirui lily) and the river in Ukhrul district are the main attractions of Shirui Kashong Peak. Shirui is divided into two villages-Shirui ato and Shirui aze. There are 100 households in Antu Bairui with a total of 472 people; Azebai Rui has 184 households with a total of 793 people.

The local people of Shirui speak Shirui dialect belonging to the Tibetan-Burman language family. The week-long festival held in Shirui is Shirui Lily Festival. It was declared a national holiday in 2017.

If we talk about Assam, then Karbi Anglong, West Karbi, Dima Hasao and the mountainous areas of the Bodo territories are all within the provisions of the sixth schedule.

On the other hand, Article 244(A) provides more autonomous power for tribal areas.

Keralas 10% population vaccinated

Among the south-Indian states, Kerala is leading in thevaccination drivewith at least 10% of its Population receiving a dose of the vaccine. While in Nadu 4% of the population received the Vaccines, inAndhra Pradeshit is 5%, and Karnataka it is at 6%. However, Health experts said that it was not enough and the state needs to fasten the vaccination drive before the second wave hits Kerala.

In other words, Kerala has vaccinated 1,04,203 people per million population. Karnataka has so far vaccinated 63,645 people per million population and Andhra Pradesh 53,985 people per million population.

Tamil Nadu and Telangana have not been able to achieve even half of what Kerala has achieved. Tamil Nadu vaccinated 39,825 people per million population and Telangana 35,313 people per million population.

Karnataka: Sale of beer is highest in Haveri in financial year 2020-21

The prolonged closure of bars and on sales of alcoholic beverages in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak of Covid-19 in the beginning of the 2020-21 financial year had raised fears among officials in the excise department over their revenue targets being met.

However, sales have been anything but sluggish in some of the districts in North Karnataka.Haveridistrict, for instance, has registered record sales of beer across the state, with 96.1% of the stock being cleared in the recently concluded financial year. Kolar (94.4%), Chitradurga (90.7%) and Chikkaballapur (90%) have slotted in behind Haveri in second, third and fourth slots respectively.

However, the division topping the charts in terms of revenue generation is Kolar (125.8%), with Ballari (112.4%), Chikaballapur (109%), Chitradurga (106.3%) in close pursuit.

In South Karnataka, Mysuru, which had achieved 93.9% of the target and Bengaluru (90.3%) divisions have performed well, while Mangaluru, which had achieved 88.4% of its revenue target, has rung in cheer for the excise department along the coast.

Furthermore, sales of liquor in March 2021 have been robust, comparable to what was registered in the corresponding month in 2020. As on March 19, 53.2 lakh boxes of alcohol had been sold, against a total of 60 lakh boxes in the whole of March 2020. The three divisions in Bengaluru Urban south, north and west have registered the highest sales in March.

Centre calls on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to negotiate and solve issues over bifurcation

The Centre has askedAndhra PradeshandTelanganatoresolvepending issues overbifurcationthrough negotiation. Assuring that support would be extended in resolution of the issues.

Senior officials told the Union Home secretary that bifurcation of non-cadre superintendents of Police (SPs), additional SPs and DSPs were not yet resolved. Similarly, division of assets and debts of corporations listed in the Schedule IX of AP Reorganisation Act and Singareni Collieries were also left unresolved. Provisions to levy taxes as per Sections 51,51 and 56 of the Reorganisation Act are also pending resolution.

NCML signs MoU with Agriculture Skill Council of India for skill development in agriculture sector

National Collateral Management Limited (NCML), private-sector Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture post-harvest management company, announced that it has signed MoU with Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), an organization that works towards the capacity building by bridging gaps and upgrading skills of farmers, wage workers, under Ministry of Skill development & (MSDE). The aim is to provide skill training in the agriculture sector. The PARTNERSHIP will enable a continuous Learning framework leading to Training and Development of Resources in the agriculture Industry.

The need for skill development in the agriculture warehouse industry has been recognized by the government and the agriculture industry. This partnership will increase the benefits to the agriculture Warehousing industry, which will play a more significant role in shaping and evolving the vocational training curriculum and programs in the country. Some of the benefits include reduced in-house training costs due to the availability of industry-ready personnel through National level certification, creation of a pool of skilled workforce for seasonal load by re-skilling of the currently employed workforce, stated NCML.

The process is divided into three parts which include training courses, prior learning and special projects. NCML will recognize prior learning for different skills which are matching the qualification pact of ASCI and will recognize people in the states including Delhi,Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan,Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh.

ASCI will be a facilitator for creating occupational standards for various job roles as per the National Skill Qualification Framework, facilitate accreditation processes for the training being carried and certification of trainees, all of which would be approved by the industry experts.

Goa University to offer study of Brazilian Portuguese

Goa University(GU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with theministry of foreign affairsof Brazil to promote thestudyof BrazilianPortugueselanguage and literature at the varsity.

As per the MoU signed through the consulate general of Brazil based in Mumbai, alecturerinBrazilianPortuguese language, with at least a postgraduate degree, will be appointed at GUs department of Portuguese and Lusophone studies. GU is already among the rare varsities in the country tooffera postgraduate programme in Portuguese, which attracts students from different parts of India.

Now an expert in Brazilian Portuguese language, literature, Brazilian culture and social studies will be based at university. The MoU will be for an initial period of two years, which may be extended later, and the areas of cooperation are also likely to be expanded in the future.

33% more power for Mumbai as Adani to add 1,000MW

Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission(MERC) granted a transmission licence toAdaniElectricity Mumbai Infra Ltd for 25 years, enabling the firm to bring 1,000MW, or 33% more electricity, to Mumbai to cater to increasing demand.

Mumbai consumes 2,500-3,000MW during peak load, which goes up to 3,500MW in summer.Powerexpert Ashok Pendse said while the cost for consumers will rise by 6-7 paise per unit, with the demand set to increase in the coming months, it will help the city to have more power.

Since 1981, the city has been protected by islanding system, for which citizens pay Rs 450-500 crore each year through electricity bills. This is to ensure Mumbai gets constant supply even if there is power outage in MMR or elsewhere in the state. While Tata Power generates 1,337MW, Adani generates 500MW in Dahanu.
