Of the 84.7 lakh people scheduled to receive thesecond doseof the Covid-19 vaccine inKarnatakaby July 23 (morning), only 67% or 56.7 lakh have been fully inoculated, reports Sunitha Rao R. The government is now making efforts to track down the remaining 33% or 27.9 lakh and administer the dose on priority. This group includes healthcare workers and frontline workers and people above 18 years of age.

While the coverage varies, 11 districts have done better than the states Average when it comes to administering the second dose. The remaining 21 districts are lagging, data as on July 20 shows. While Udupi has jabbed 90% of those eligible for the second time, Chamarajanagar has the lowest coverage at 49%.

TheKrishnaRiver Management Board (KRMB) will hold a meeting withTelanganaandAndhra Pradesh(AP) in the second week of August, top sources said.

Official said the respective delegates will discuss water allocation for the current year 2021, detailed project reports for all Irrigation projects and objections being raised on the projects and hydel power generation by both the states.

The meeting assumes significance as theNational Green Tribunal(NGT) has recently directed the KRMB to inspect the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS) project site independently, without seeking help from AP and submit a report on August 9. The government even offered to provide helicopter for the KRMB team to reach the site.

The minister said that out of the 33 projects, 16 were about providing new railway lines, while the remaining 17 was doubling of the existing lines.

These projects would cover 5,706 kilometres in the state.

The minister further said that the Average annual budget allocation for projects and safety works, falling in the state increased to Rs 2830 crore per year in 2014-19 from Rs 886 crore per year during 2009-14.

This was further increased to Rs 3,885 crore per year from 2019-20, Rs 4910 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 5812 crore for 2021-22.

The state cabinet granted approval to the Goa InvestmentPromotionand Facilitation of Single WindowClearanceBill, 2021, to attract investors in the state.

The bill provides for the creation of an administrative and operation framework for the GoaInvestmentPromotion and FacilitationBoardas asingle-windowclearance facilitation mechanism. The prime objective is to ensure that clearance, licences, permissions and approvals are granted in a time-bound manner under relevant state laws so as to provide an investor friendly Environment in the state.

The government had formulated the Goa Policy, 2014, which envisaged a legal framework to be established through an act.

The cabinet note said that the State Government felt a need to enact a new law that would result in investors choosing the Goa as a preferred destination for setting up their projects.
The state government had constituted a special task force committee to revive and suggest necessary amendments in the Goa Investment Promotion Act, 2014.

In a bid to provide young academic talent some hands-on experience working in the government sector and ideate innovative solutions in policy matters, the Manohar Lal Khattar Government in Haryana has come up with an internship policy 2021.

The policy launched by the on Thursday aims to give an opportunity to students to secure firsthand and practical work experience and become aware of government functioning besides contributing to the policy formulation.

The interns will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement with the State Government prior to the commencement of the internship. Under this, the interns shall be required to maintain confidentiality of all the documents or reports and any other information received during the internship period and shall not reveal to any person or organization any information regarding Department, work or policy.

According to the internship policy, academic institutions shall sponsor students for internship which shall range from two months to one year. The interns will be working with the Joint Secretaries, Directors or any other relevant officials in the Government Department or District Administration. They will primarily work in areas like Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, data management and analysis, economics, Education, energy, Governance, Foreign Trade, Health, Women and child development,Industry, Environment, Social Media among other sectors.

The young academic talent should be provided with the opportunity to become aware of government functioning and develop understanding of policy measures undertaken by the Departments to bring about social and Economic Development.

Taking a proactive action aimed at bridging the widening gap between supply and demand of power during the peak season, Punjab Government has taken up the initiative to enhance the available transfer capability (ATC) and total transfer capability (TTC) by at least 1,500 megawatt (MW) before the onset of next paddy season in the agrarian state.

The decision, taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan on Tuesday, will help the State to ensure seamless power supply to the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, , and domestic sectors even during the peak load time.

Reviewing the current power supply and demand status with the administrative secretaries, the Chief Secretary issued strict instructions to the Power Department to enhance the ATC and TTC capacity on priority and ensure seamless power supply to agriculture, industry, and domestic sectors as part of the continuous process to further improve the present system in the state.

Reiterating the Chief Ministers commitment that there will be no dearth of funds for the development projects, Mahajan asked the Finance Department to ensure the release of funds as per the requirements of the implementing departments.

Industries Minister Bikram Thakur has said the second ground-breaking ceremony will be held in September during which new industrial units with a total investment of about Rs 10,000 crore will be finalised in the state.

Bikram Thakur was speaking at the Mehatpur industrial area last night after launching public works estimated at Rs 1.6 crore. The works included the inauguration of a drinking water pump house, an overhead water storage tank, high mast lights and some other . He also laid the stone for the construction of a shopping complex in the industrial area on which Rs 19 lakh will be spent.

The minister said that during the first ground-breaking ceremony, Investment to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore was actually came, adding that in the second ceremony, MoUs for investment to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore were expected.

To tackle Covid-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced an incentive package of about Rs 205 crore for the States health sector and the personnel employed in it.

This package will benefit about 3.73 lakh people of the State.

According to the package, Asha facilitators and Anganwadi workers will receive Rs 2,000 per month each for the next five months. Similarly, group C and D personnel of the Health department will receive Rs 3,000 each and Rs 10,000 each will be provided to the doctors. This will benefit about 61,000 personnel.

Additionally, 1,120 Asha facilitators and Anganwadi workers will also receive one tablet each. Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic kits will also be distributed to these personnel to boost their immunity and protect them from ill-effects of Covid. About 3,73,568 persons will benefit from these decisions. Regarding the expansion of health Services in the State, Dhami said Government medical colleges will be established in Haridwar and Pithoragarh districts for which Rs 70 crore each will be released in the current financial year.

Aiming to attract investments into Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to set up private industrial parks in several districts on public-private participation (PPP) model.

The districts earmarked for setting up and development of these parks include Lucknow, Unnao, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Auraiya, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Azamgarh, Ambedkarnagar, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj.

The project will be developed on a PPP model. The purpose of this exercise is to promote the industries of the state and increase economic activities through the expressway. Now the movement of goods from Western UP to Central UP, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand is going to be faster and easier. There is also a plan to set up a private industrial park on the land of Auto Tractor Limited in Pratapgarh as its plant shut down operations in 1972.
