Acting on the directions of Union health ministry under the aegis of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), the state health department has started a door-to-door survey to identify live tuberculosis (TB) patients.

The survey is aimed at identifying fresh cases of TB as well as to provide them adequate supplements meant for their nutritional balance according to the NTEP. ASHA workers along with block and district-level TB cell officials will be visiting door to door in villages and urban areas to collect sputum of suspected patients.

According to the state Health department records, over 35,000 people were identified as live TB cases across the state and they have been connected with their district TB cell for medication as well as financial assistance.

The state government has prepared a blueprint for creating export hub in every district with the aim to export district-specific products to 75 countries, state industries ministerShahnawaz Hussainsaid.

The exhibition was organized by the Union commerce ministry under the guidance of its additional secretary Amrit Lal Meena on the Adhiveshan Bhavan premises. Among the participants were entrepreneurs, representatives of business and industrial organisations, exporters and importers, manufacturers and traders.

Hussain said Bihar will also contribute to the Centres for the world export project that has put the export target of US$400 billion. Some products from the state were being already exported, but the present aim of the State Government is to increase the volume of export by accessing the market potential in 75 countries.

Highlighting the emerging industrial scenario in the state, Hussain said the industries department

has cleared proposals worth Rs35,019 crore, while the companies interested in ethanol production have proposed to produce 187 crore litres of it for supply.

By procuring 2.78 lakh quintals of minor forest produce worth Rs 80.12 crores, Chhattisgarh takes the top spot in the country as per the first trimester of current fiscal data of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).

Data for April-July showed that Chhattisgarh procured 277,958 quintals of minor forest produce. Of the total minor forest produce collection in India worth Rs 93 crores during the period, Chhattisgarh accounted for 88.36 percent.

The prominent procurements were of tamarind (including seeds), Sal seed, tamarind flower, chironji kernesl and bahera.

The Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association, Sanjay Shukla, said at present 52 minor forest produce are being procured in the state at minimum support price.

The also provides additional bonus to procure Kusumi Lac, Rangini Lac and Kullu gum.

Discovery of Hybodont Shark – New Species

A new extinct species of hybodontshark has been discovered in the Jaisalmer Basin of Rajasthan by researchers from the Geological Survey of India and the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee by a team of officers. This discovery was published in the 4th issue of Historical Biology, an internationally renowned journal of palaeontology, in August 2021.

Thirty teeth specimens were collected from the region which proved that the species lived about 160 and 168 million years ago.

It was termed Strophodus jaisalmerensis, and it is the first time the Strophodus genus has been found in India.

Hybodont sharks were believed to have grown around 2-3 metres long. They went extinct 65 million years ago,

most likely as a result of comparing with other species, such as sharks. It’s worth noting that dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago as well. But It’s unclear whether these two extinctions are related or not.

Odisha: Bat Island to become attraction for eco-tourists

Sanctuary for Slender Loris – Kadavur Reserve Forest

There is a demand to declare Kadavur Reserve Forest in the Karur district of Nadu as a sanctuary for Slender Loris.

The whole wooded area in the taluk has been categorized as a reserve wooded area and viewed as a hotspot in the State for Slender Loris.

Harvest Festival of Kerala – Onam

Onam is the most revered & celebrated festival of Kerala, is celebrated each year by means of the Malayali community across the world. The 10-day long competition marks the starting of harvest season as properly as the look of the Vaman avatar of Lord Vishnu alongside with the homecoming of King Mahabali.

With simply two days left for the festival, the 7th day marks the starting of the instruction for Onam Sandhya in which quite a few dance performances are held.

The Eighth day holds significance in festivities as the idols of Vamana and King Mahabali are prepared by the use of clay and placed in the

centre of the Pookalam.

And finally on the 9th day of Uthradom, the festivities begin on a massive scale. People start coaching for traditional foods by using the usage of fruits and vegetables.

The tenth day of the competition is the most vital day

of the carnival of Onam and it is believed that on Thiruvonam, the spirit of legendary King Mahabali visits the nation of Kerala and hence, the festivities commence from early morning. The grand feast of Onam called Onam sadhya is also organized on this day.
