India hands over Jaynagar-Kurtha rail link to Nepal

India has handed over 34.9 km long cross-border rail link to Nepal government, that connects Jayanagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Nepal.

The ceremony took place on October 22, 2021 in the presence of Indian ambassador to Nepal Vinay M. Kwatra and Nepal minister for physical & transport Renu Kumari Yadav.

About Jaynagar-Kurtha Section of rail link

The Jaynagar Kurtha section of rail link is the part of 68.7 km Jaynagar Bijalpura- Bardidas rail link. It was built under the grant assistance programme of Indian government. Under the grant assistance of India, gauge conversion of 34.9 km

narrow gauge has been completed. The project has completed at a cost of Rs 619 crore. It has five stations in the section namely, Jayanagar, Khajuri, Inarwa, Baidehi and Kurtha near Janakpur in Nepal. The highest fare will likely be Rs 70 for general class and Rs 300 for AC for the entire journey. The train will run at 115 km per hour and the distance will be covered in 23 minutes.

Significance of the rail link

This operationalised cross-border rail link is likely to enhance Trade and Commerce activities. It will also enhance people to people linkage between both the countries.

Jainagar or Jaynagar

It is a town and a notified area in the Madhubani district of Bihar. As per 2011 census, Jainagar had a Population of 1,77,556. Males account for 53% of the population while females account for 47%. The town has an Average Literacy rate of 58%.

CM seeks work plan for Rural Industrial Parks

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday urged Collectors to submit within a month plans to establish Rural Industrial Parks in the Gauthans (cowsheds) in their districts.

Baghel sought this while reviewing various works at a Collectors Conference here.

On the Narva Garva Ghurva Badi scheme, the Chief Minister called for special attention to rural areas where the ground water levels are deep.

He instructed the Collectors to select land for projects in such a manner that private land belonging to farmers is not affected.

The Chief Minister underlined the need

for linking the Badi scheme meant for vegetable garden in Gauthans with movements like mid-day meals, Ashram for children and movement for eliminating Malnutrition through Suposhan Abhiyan.

MP Cabinet decides on power subsidy to domestic, agri consumers for FY 2021-22

The State Cabinet here decided to give subsidy of over Rs 20,000 crore in electricity rates to domestic and agricultural consumers for the financial year 2021-22.

In the scheme implemented for domestic consumers, a maximum bill of Rs 100 up to the first 100 units on monthly consumption of up to 150 units, and for the BPL domestic consumers of SC and ST, the provision of charging Rs 100 in 4 months at the rate of only Rs 25 per month from domestic consumers, whose monthly consumption is 30 units, has been continued this year as well. A subsidy of Rs 4981.69 crore has been approved under the Griha Jyoti Yojana.

The Cabinet has also decided to provide relief in electricity rates to the agricultural consumer category. In this, a flat rate of Rs 750 per horsepower per year will be

payable to the consumers of meterless permanent agricultural pump of capacity up to 10 horsepower. The remaining amount will be payable by the as subsidy. For this, a subsidy of Rs 9876 crore will be provided by the state government to the distribution companies. About 21 lakh 75 thousand agricultural pump consumers of the state will be benefited by this decision.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launches seventh phase of ‘Seva Setu’ initiative

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel launched the seventh phase of state-wide Seva Setu programme from Manipur in Sanand, Ahmedabad district which will be held in the state till January 5, 2022.

A total of 56 different Services will be made available to the citizens through 2500 Seva Setu programme across the state.

CM also visited various stalls set up under Seva Setu and interacted with the beneficiaries and also requested the beneficiaries to avail various government schemes.

Rajasthan: Ensure giving 4% quota for people with disabilities in local body polls

The ministry of social and Empowerment, government of India, has directed all the states and union territories, including Rajasthan, to ensure giving 4% reservation for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in Panchayati Raj and local body Elections.

Earlier, the State Government had allowed nominating PwDs to the Urban Local Bodies as members across the state. The state government had amended the Rajasthan Municipal Act in March this year to introduce this provision of nominating PwDs to the ULBs as members, making it the first in the country.

After amendments in the Rajasthan Municipal Act, now it has become mandatory to keep one post vacant for PwDs in an urban local body.

These states, mostly in the eastern part of the country, require prioritisation of adaptation interventions, the report pointed out.

The state government has sanctioned projects worth Rs 640 crore for mining-affected districts underOdishaMineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC).The OMBADC constituted in 2014 with contribution frommininglease holders for diversion of forest land for mining purposes.

Also, penalties collected from the lessees for illegal mining based on a Supreme Court order on August 2, 2017, was also deposited in

OMBADC. The fund now has a deposit of over Rs 16,000 crore, official sources said. The board of directors of OMBADC headed by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has sanctioned projects like development of secondary schools, environmental monitoring and Sports development projects.

Under the secondary school development programme, the has planned to develop smart classroom, e-library, science laboratory, information Communication technology (ICT) laboratory and other Infrastructure in 889 secondary schools in Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts.

The aim of the school development programme is to provide exposure to students in the mining-affected districts. Around Rs 533 crore has been earmarked for it. The Money will be utilised to enhance the Learning eco-system in government schools in the mining-affected districts, said the chief secretary.

Ecologically sustainable aquaculture based on symbiotic technology is set to revolutionise the coastal aquaculture industry in the country. The aquaculture based on symbiotic technology is a guaranteed way for achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for doubling the aqua farmers’ income, said Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) vice-chancellor G Sugumar. He was speaking after inaugurating the project on standardised pond-based culture technique for commercially important marine finfishes and pond-based recirculated aquaculture system (RAS) for vannamei shrimp at Chippikulam near Thoothukudi. Sugumar said the initiative launched by Kings Infra in association with the university to promote the project would help the aquaculture farming practice to be truly sustainable in the country. The recirculated aquaculture system (RAS) empowers farmers to utilise water to the maximum sustainable levels by eliminating possible wastage by converting the same to another resource.

The Kochi-based Kings Infra has been advocating the need for an environmentally sustainable aquaculture for the past many years. Sustainable aquaculture has considerable scope for Growth as 49 per cent of global demand for human consumption of fish is contributed by aquaculture. Aquaculture shrimp contributed 74 per cent value of the Indian seafood exports worth Rs 43,717 crore exports in FY 2021.
