October 23: Karnataka celebrates Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayanthi

On the occasion, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai garlanded the statue of Queen in Hubbali in Dharwad district.

A sum of 50 crore rupees will be sanctioned in the year 2021 for the Kittur Development Authority.

Kittur Chennamma

Kittur Chennamma was born on October 23, 1778. She belonged to the Lingayat community. She married Raja Mallasarja from the Desai family when she was 15. She was Indian Queen of Kittur which was a princely state in Karnataka. She led an Armed Rebellion in the year 1824, against the British East India Company (BEIC). She rebelled in confrontation of the in a bid to maintain Indian control over the region. In the fight, she defeated the British. However, she was dead

in the imprisonment of second rebellion by BEIC. She was one of the first female rulers who rebel against British rule. She became a folk hero in Karnataka. She also became a symbol of independence movement in India.

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy keen on land survey deadline

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to complete the comprehensive land survey within the deadline. He also told them to process land registrations and mutations at the village secretariats.

The officials informed the chief minister that so far, survey was completed in 51 villages which were undertaken as pilot project and assured that another 650 villages will be completed by December 2021, covering one village from each mandal.

The centre has put together a Climate Collective made up of members from across the country, which includes researchers, students, data analysts, professionals and entrepreneurs who will work in teams starting from Saturday, for seven days.

The organisers have dubbed the event Climathon Panaji 2021.

Rs 4,264 crore rail works okayed for Maharashtra under South Central Railway: Union minister Raosaheb Danve

Amid outcry over biased treatment to Nanded division by the South Central RAILWAY (SCR), Union minister of state for railways Raosaheb Danve on Wednesday said rail works worth Rs 4,264 crore have been sanctioned for Maharashtra under the jurisdiction of SCR.

Danve said doubling of railway line between Mudkhed-Parbhani for a length of 81-km has already been completed whereas electrification works between Akola-Lohagad for a distance of 34 km have also been accomplished.

In regard to the status of new rail line between Ahmednagar and Parli via Beed, Danve said the new rail line work between Beed and Parli for a

distance of 30-km has been completed and another stretch of 30-km was expected to get over during the current financial year.

Free education for kids from families earning less than Rs 1.8 lakh per year: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday announced free-of-cost Education for children whose verified family income is less than Rs 1.8 lakh per annum under the state gvernments ambitious Parivar Pehchan Patra Scheme.

The CM made the announcement while interacting with students who have cracked civil Services exam 2020 and JEE (Advanced) 2021 under the governments Super 100 Programme, during a state-level felicitation programme in Panchkula.

The CM said the education system of Lord Macaulay was focused on the Three Rs: Writing, Reading and Arithmetic, which did not ensure the holistic development of a citizen.

Farmers to get treated water for irrigation in Punjab

Punjab and Water Conservation, Technical Education Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh on Friday laid foundation stone of a project, which would provide round the year flow of treated water for Irrigation purposes for 2,264 acres Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture land on its completion at a cost of Rs 11.10 crore.

Kickstarting the construction of Soil and Water Conservation Departments project at Piplanwali village, Rana Gurjeet said that the project would cater to irrigation needs of seven villages with proper utilization of treated waste water of Hoshiarpur city through underground pipeline systems.

The treated water from

a Sewage Treatment Plant of MBBR technology having a capacity of 30 MLD would further supply to seven villages namely Piplanwala, Purheera, Bassi Daulat Khan, Singhriwal, Kuragana, Pandori Rukman and Madooli Bhrahmna for irrigation by farmers. This project would facilitate the farmers with healthy water for fields and crops and they do not need to use untreated water, as used earlier, containing harmful chemicals.

This project will ensure round the year availability of water to the farmers and treated water being rich in nutrients, will also help in increasing the yield.

Solan: e-platform tie-ups boost product sales of SHGs

Collaborations with E-Commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon has helped self-help groups (SHGs) fetch orders from all across the country for 268 products launched under the brand name Son Chiraiya by the Department of Urban Development.

The initiative has brought 176 orders worth Rs 1.3 lakh for the SHGs from all over the country. More than 3,500 SHGs are functional in (ULBs) of the state and most of them are engaged in making a variety of products, such as baskets, pen stands, file covers, jams, jellies, woollens, etc.

No legislator has utilised 100% of allotted MLALAD funds: RTI

None of the 71 legislators 70 elected and 1 nominated of the Uttarakhand assembly have been able to spend the entire amount of the MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) fund they were allotted between 2017 and September 2021, reveals response to an RTI query.

also disclosed that a cumulative amount of Rs 1,256.50 crore was allotted to the 71 legislators during the aforementioned period under MLALAD funds. The fund was equally distributed and each legislator was allotted Rs 17.75 crore during the period.

Out of this cumulative amount, the legislators were able to use Rs 963 crore i.e 77% of the total amount. The remaining Rs 293 crore is yet to be spent on developmental projects.

Uttar Pradesh cabinet OKs land for BrahMos unit in state capital

The state cabinet paved the way for setting up a DEFENCE unit to manufacture BrahMos in the Lucknow node of the defence corridor by clearing a proposal to allot 80 hectares of land for a token Re 1 annual lease rent.

The unit would come up in the Sarojininagar area of the city. The cabinet also cleared the proposal for direct bank transfer of cash to students of classes 1 to 8 to purchase school uniforms, books, sweaters, socks and shoes. The cabinet approved the easing of rules of the UP Defence and Aerospace Unit and EMPLOYMENT Generation Policy of 2018.

setting up facilities in UPs upcoming defence corridor. While the one unit would manufacture Brah-Mos missiles, the other unit would manufacture propulsion systems used in Akash missiles.

Under the change in the defence policy, Bharat Dynamics Ltd is being given a 25% concession in price of land and allotment of 183 hectare land at a token annual lease rent of Re 1. The company is planning to set up a unit in the Jhansi node of the defence corridor where it will use indigenous technology to manufacture propulsion systems used in the Akash Missiles and will be investing Rs 400 crore in the project and provide employment to about 100 people.

Jharkhand govt to form panel for certifying Covid deaths

Acting on the directions of the Union Health ministry in the Light of The Supreme Court guidelines for proper documentation of Covid-19 deaths with specific mention of cause, the state health department on Thursday evening circulated a set of guidelines for issuing death certificates of those who died of Covid-19 in Jharkhand.

An order in this regard was issued by additional chief secretary (health) Arun Kumar Singh who directed all deputy commissioners to take necessary action in this regard. According to the letter, a four-member Covid-19 Death Ascertaining Committee (CDAC) is to be constituted by respective deputy commissioners for issuing medical certificate on cause of death (MCCD).

The simplified guidelines are a result of the Supreme court orders passed in June this year wherein it was hearing a case where the family of deceased had argued that they werent satisfied with the cause of

death provided in the death certificate by hospitals.
