Chhattisgarh: Bhupesh Baghel govt to give 1112 crore to farmers

TheChhattisgarhgovernment will on Sunday transfer more than Rs 1,112 crore directly to the accounts of farmers towards the fourth instalment ofRajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojanaand the unique Godhan Nyay Yojana, under which the state procures cow dung from cattle rearers.

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana was launched on May 21 last year to provide agricultural input assistance to farmers and to increase production and the productivity of major crops of the state. Besides paddy in the kharif season, 13 other crops such as maize, soyabean,groundnut, sesame, pigeonpea, moong, urad, kulthi, ramatil, kodo, kutki, ragi have also been included along with sugarcane in rabi season.

Under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers who cultivated paddy in Kharif 2019 are being paid in instalments directly in their bank account at Rs 10,000 per

acre on the basis of acreage obtained through .

Nearly 18.4 lakh farmers including 9.54 lakh marginal farmers, 5.60 lakh small farmers and 3.21 lakh large farmers have been paid Rs 4,500 crore in three instalments as input assistance and 4,777 certified seed growers have been paid over Rs 23.6 crore in three instalments.

In this way, Rs 4,523.62 crore has been paid to a total of 18.43 lakh farmers.

Godhan Nyaya Yojana the only such scheme in the country was started for the purchase of cow dung at the rate of Rs 2 per kg to provide additional income to Livestock rearers. More

than 70,000 landless people constitute 44.5% of the beneficiaries under this scheme.

Radio programme for women safety

One-hour radio programme for awareness of Women safety would be organised by joint efforts of State Police and public relations department.

Under the Women’s Awareness Campaign ‘Samman’, a joint innovative effort of Madhya Pradesh Police and Public Relations Department is organising awareness programs for citizens of Bhopal.

In this programme, the experiences of the girls, stories of real heros, opinions of experts as well as the views of citizens would be discussed and shared.

IFFCO to set up O2 plant in Paradip

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has decided to set up anoxygen planton the factory premises inParadip. It will make Oxygen available free of cost to hospitals treatingCovidpatients.

To help the governments efforts to augment availability of oxygen in the country, IFFCO has taken steps to set up oxygen Plants at its fertiliser units for meeting the requirement of patients affected by Covid. The cooperative body

has already placed an order for setting up of one oxygen plant at itsKalolunit inGujarat. This plant will be made operational within two weeks. It will have a capacity to produce 700 oxygen cylinders per day.

Each cylinder has capacity of 46.7 litres with medical grade oxygen of 99.5% purity.
IFFCO has also placed orders to set up three similar plants at its fertilizer units in Aonla andPhulpurin Uttar Pradesh and Paradip inOdisha.

Sops for setting up oxygen plant on agricultural land

With the Objectivity of increasing the availability of medical Oxygen in the state, chief minister Ashok Gehlot decided to make land use conversion free by ensuring 100% exemption in lease amount for setting up oxygen Plants on agricultural land.

plants are to be set up in various district headquarters and other cities of the state by local urban bodies through their Resources or private institutions. As such, under the Rajasthan Urban Areas (Permission for use of Agricultural Land for Non-agricultural Purposes and Allotment) Rules, 2012, 100% exemption will be given in the premium and lease amount payable for land use conversion.

AFSPA to continue in Assam, to be withdrawn if peace lasts : Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam chief ministerHimanta Biswa Sarma said the state will continue to be under Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 and a decision on withdrawing it will be taken only if the present peace prevails for a longer term.

He expressed apprehension that the militant groups might not reciprocate the same way if theAFSPAis withdrawn from Assam.

Sarma, however, said that no wants to continue with AFSPA if the law and order situation is peaceful and conducive.

Stating that no state government will want to continue with AFSPA if the law and order situation is peaceful and conducive, he said “I am only saying this in the context of our state and notNagalandbecause I have no jurisdiction to do so. On Nagaland I do not have any assessment. I do not want to comment on the situation that exists in that state,” he added.

The Act was imposed in Assam in November 1990 and has been extended every six months since then after a review by the state government.

The Rs 960 crore livelihood assistance package comes a day after Naveen announced Rs 1444 crore house repair help at the rate of Rs 3,000 each to the beneficiaries of various state housing schemes and Rs 5,000 each for eligible families deprived of central housing benefits.

Karnataka govt resolves to increase time for legislature sessions

Even as the legislators and Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri admitted that there has been a drop in the quality of debate, chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said the government will try to increase the number of days for each of the legislative sessions in 2022.

As decorum within the house went haywire, Speaker Kageri expressed his anguish over members not refraining themselves from speaking out of turn and wasting time, while repeating the same issues time and again.

The

anguish was shared by senior legislators like former speaker K RRamesh Kumar, former chief ministers B S Yediyurappa and H D Kumaraswamy and the law minister JC Madhuswamy.
