Kerala bas become the first and only state in India to launch its own internet service, Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON).

It was announced by Chief Minister of Kerala, after Department of Telecommunications granted an Internet Service Provider (ISP) licence to KFON Ltd, to provide internet access to everyone in state.

The Kerala Fibre Optic Network Ltd (KFON) is an initiative of Kerala government, launched with the aim of eliminating the digital gap in state. According to government, created under this project will complement current telecom ecosystem in Kerala.

KFON has been kickstarted with the basic principle of non -discriminatory treatment. Thus, no service provider or business segment will receive preferential treatment, in

line with recommendations of Telecom Regulatory Authority ofIndia(TRAI). Any internet provider, at any level of business segment are free to use KFON network for bridging the connectivity gaps at their core networks.

Karnataka: Coconut coop unit plans Rs 4.5 crore expansion, seeks funds

The coconut processing centre set up by a cooperative Society at Munachanahalli in Chamarajanagar taluk will soon be extended at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore. A decision to this effect was taken by the board of directors of the unit at the recently held general meeting.

The unit, which has a capacity

of processing 50,000 coconuts per day, provides jobs to around 250 people. Local growers formed a cooperative association and established this processing unit under Chamarajanagar Coconut Growers Association 20 years ago. More than 13,000 farmers of the district are cultivating coconut on 26,000 hectares using Irrigation pump sets in Hanur, Kollegal, Yelandur and Gundlupet taluks.
The had sanctioned Rs 3.5 crore for the unit in the 2010-11 budget to help the Association to set up their unit at Munanchanahalli village to ensure Marketing facilities for local coconut growers.

Red sanders traders urge AP govt for SEZ

Red sanders traders and exporters have urged theAndhra Pradeshgovernment to set up an exclusive special economic zone (SEZ) so that finished products, handicrafts, and furniture made from red sanders logs can be exported.

They said the proposed SEZ will help in stopping Migration of Rayalaseema workers toGulfcountries. Workers from Rayachoti, Kadapa, RAILWAY Kodur andRajampetgo to

Red sanders traders have written to chief ministers of AP and Telangana that the SEZ will provide employment to one lakh people and also help the states earn more revenue than selling it in wood form.

Govt begins survey to ascertain Goa’s employment figures

In order to ascertain the Unemployment rate in Goa, the government has commenced a survey to find out how manyGoansand non-Goans have been employed in various sectors in the state.

The survey, which is expected to go on for a month, is being carried out by officials of the department of labour and EMPLOYMENT, who will visit industries, hotels, showrooms, supermarkets, general stores, pharmacies, garment stores, hospitals, clinics, and even kiosks.

In its annual report for 2020-21, theUnion ministry of statisticsand programme implementation (MoSPI) had said that Goa had the third highest joblessness rate in the country during that period.

Data from the independent think tank, Centre for Monitoring of Indian economy (CMIE), in May revealed that approximately nine lakh of Goa’s Population is in the employable age bracket of 20-59

years, which would suggest that around 1.4 lakh Goans remain unemployed. One of the main reasons for unemployment is the inability to attract new industrial units to the state, the data had indicated.

Citing Gujarat, Karnataka model, Maharashtra private sector seeks vaccination swap

Private vaccine centres in the state, currently holding an estimated 2 lakh doses and facing low turnout, have urged the government use their stock in the ongoing booster drive.

The Centre had announced free boosters for 75 days (from July 15). Private centres worry the drive will further reduce turnouts for the paid jab and have proposed a swap near-expiry doses in return for fresh vials.

Haryana to see more Pusa decomposer use to curb stubble burning this year

Scepticism fromfarmersabout bio-decomposers notwithstanding, they remain at the forefront of government efforts to bring down farm fires that choke Delhi-NCR at the onset of winter.

The Pusa bio-decomposer, a microbial solution, will be sprayed on at least five lakh acres of land inHaryanathis year. So far, more than 1,000 farmers in the state have filled up forms to avail of the solution. Pusa spraying in the fields is free and will begin from the first week of October. The total area under paddy coverage in Haryana is 34.1 lakh acres.

Last year, the Pusa bio-decomposer was sprayed on three lakh acres in the state. Cases of stubble burning, however, sharply increased from 4,202 in 2020 to 7,197 in 2021. Farmers

havent been keen on bio-decomposers because of the time it takes to break down the crop waste, arguing that burning it is the fastest way of preparing the fields for the next crop.

State collaborating with WB for 1,714cr project: Cheema

Punjab finance ministerHarpal Singh Cheemasaid on Wednesday that the state was collaborating with theunder a $215 million (Rs 1,714.89 crore)BFAIR(building fiscal and institutional resilience) project in which the states contribution will be $65 million (Rs 518.72 crore).

He claimed that unlike the other loans, this Money will be for systemic reforms in five departments, of finance, planning, Governance reforms, Local Government, and womens and child development.

Himachal Pradesh: First to connect all VLTD vehicles with ERSS

Himachal Pradesh has become Indias first state to connect the Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).

All the registered commercial vehicles equipped with VLRD will be connected with ERSS.

Through this mechanism, these vehicles can be tracked anywhere in India.

Over 9,423 vehicles have been registered and connected with ERSS.

Under this mechanism, both Police and transport department can now monitor the vehicles.

This system was launched by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur at Peterhof, in Shimla.

Panic Button for safety

Chief Minister also launched the facility of panic button for womens and childs safety in public vehicles. Vehicle Location Tracking Device, comprising of Emergency Panic Button System and Command Control Centre has been linked with the Emergency Response Support System 112. When this panic button is pressed at the time of distress, it would send a signal through satellite to 112. Following this, the system will connect the person in distress and alert the police.

Establishment of this monitoring centre or command control centre would help in detecting the theft of vehicles and vehicle accidents easily.

It would easy to monitor the movement of vehicle, in order to ensure safety of Women and children.

This innovative initiative would make roads in states more safe and secure.

Uttarakhand to rope in jobless for cow protection, pay Rs 5,000 per month

Uttarakhandhas decided to constitute villagecow protectioncommittees and pay up to Rs 5,000 per month to its members for protecting and nurturing stray cows. The project is expected to provide jobs to residents of around 50 villages, with an initial of Rs 1 crore in the next six months in the ventures pilot phase.

Unskilled, illiterate and unemployed people from villages will be appointed gau sevaks and will be paid Rs 4,000 to 5,000 per month to look after stray cows. One person will have to take the responsibility for at least four to five cows and will be paid at least Rs 900 per animal. The project will provide EMPLOYMENT to locals and check the issue of cattle menace at the same time.
