Karnataka banks on tech to plan MNREGA projects

To ensure transparency and adopt a scientific approach to projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural EMPLOYMENT Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the government has been using technology to avoid overlapping and unscientific projects.

While the Centre has decreed that 65% of annual MGNREGA work should be dedicated to water and conservation, theRDPRdepartment has made it mandatory for MGNREGA projects for the fiscal 2023-24 to be approved by a state core team.

This team will plan works based on data and approve those suited to a particular region. BesidesKarnatakas geographic information system and Geo MGNREGA for table-top planning, the NREGA commissionerate is using Composite Landscape Assessment & Restoration Tool, a mobile application developed byFoundation for Ecological Security(FES), a not-for-profit organization, for ground proofing.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi received over Rs 194 crore as contributions through electoral bonds & trusts in 2021-22

‘s ruling partyTelangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), now known as Bharat Rashtra Samithi, received almost all of its 193.9 worth of contributions for the year 2021-22 through electoral Bonds and electoral trusts. While it has declared 153 crore as income from electoral bonds in its latest contribution report filed with the Election Commission, another 40 crore landed in its kitty from the Prudent Electoral Trust.

Other Regional Parties that have declared income from electoral bonds in their contribution reports for the year 2021-22 areYSR Congress Party(60 crore or three-fourths of its total contributions of over 80 crore),Shiromani Akali Dal(50 lakh) and Samajwadi Party (3.21 lakh). In 2020-21, YSR Congress Party had declared 96.25 crore as its income via electoral bonds route, while SAD and SP reported nil income from bonds. In 2019-20, which was also the general election year, SP had received 10.8 crore via electoral bonds route and TRS, 98.15 crore.

Andhra Pradesh to implement national registration system

The has decided to join National Generic Documentation Registration System (NGDRS) after the successful implementation of the pilot project in two areas. The new system is expected to ease setting up of new industries.

The Stamps andRegistration Departmentlaunched the pilot project in Kankipadu of NTR district andReniguntain Tirupati district. The state government has shifted the integrated data base of the registration department from Hyderabad to Vijayawada about a year ago with a

Goa: Soon, scan a QR code to verify marital certificate

The will soon start issuing digital marriage certificates with QR codes and will phase out certificates in the physical format.
The state law department has issued a notification stating that digital marriage certificates with aQR codewill be considered “authentic and the only type of certificate issued by the office of civil registrars-cum-sub-registrars”.

TheGoa governmentintroduced digitally-signed marriage certificates in 2020 as part of the ongoing digital reforms.

Maharshtra’s first transgender ward to come up at GT hospital in January

The state’s first transgender ward will come up at the state-run Gokuldas Tejpal (GT) Hospital near CSMT. The 35-to-45-bed ward will start in January 2023 and thereafter each of the JJ Group of hospitals in the city will get a trans ward.

The GT Hospital ward will contain two bathrooms and three toilets that will be gender-neutral. Dr Saple said that a separate examination room and dressing room will also be included in the ward to ensure that the patient’s privacy and dignity are maintained.

Transgenders, especially hijras, have complained about the trouble and stigma they face in accessing healthcare even in cities such as Mumbai. Many NGOs working for them had raised the issue with local governments, leading to the Preliminary Transgender Persons (Protection of Right) Act, 2019.

Industrial units to get 50 pc rebate in VAT in Haryana for using natural gas

The Haryana government on Saturday said it has decided to give a 50 per cent rebate in value added tax (VAT) to industrial units in the state that will replace diesel Generator sets required to meet their energy requirement with natural gas.

This scheme will be applicable to entire industries, including Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) and will be effective for two years from the date of its notification.

in the National Capital Region. Now the industries that will meet their energy requirement from CNG, PNG will get a 50 per cent exemption in VAT, it said.

Similarly, the committee also approved giving a subsidy of Rs 164.66 crore per year to electric vehicle manufacturing companies under various heads, under Haryana Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2022.

The chief minister was apprised the EV policy aims to protect the Environment, reduce carbon footprint, make the state an EV manufacturing hub, ensure Skill development in EV field, encourage uptake of EV vehicles, and encourage research and development in EV technology.

Punjab: Rs 5L crore investment, employment generation subsidy on the cards

The Aam Aadmi Partys (AAP) government is all set to approve The Punjab Industrial and Business Development Policy-2022 by bringing it for discussion in the Cabinet meeting scheduled this week. The previous Industrial Policy of 2017 ended on October 17.

Its for the first time that the policy would focus on providing EMPLOYMENT generation subsidy to units that employ people having Punjab domicile.

and Rs 48,000 per employee on annual basis for five years in case the employee is a woman or belongs to the reserved categories.

The policy would aim to attract an of Rs 5 lakh crore in five years, increase the share of Secondary Sector in GSDP to 30 per cent and Tertiary Sector to 62 per cent, enable job creation, develop worldclass Infrastructure, facilitate the development of at least 15 industrial parks and attract at least one anchor unit in manufacturing and Services-sector”>services sector.

For Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) and large scale industries, the government would reimburse state goods and services tax for seven years, give a 50 per cent on fixed capital investment, exemption from electricity duty and stamp duty, subsidy on applying for patents and subsidy for getting access to technology.

The policy has identified certain thrust sectors, incuding electronics, Food Processing, apparel, IT and ITES. These sectors would also get above mentioned incentives, besides a slew of incentives for food processing Industry.

As many as 28 (19 per cent) out of the total 68 sitting MLAs in Himachal are facing criminal cases out of which eight (12 per cent) have serious criminal cases as per the analyses of affidavits submitted by the MLAs during 2017 Assembly polls by Himachal Election Watch, Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

Uttarakhand: CBRI develops ‘affordable’ smart face mask for construction workers

Researchers at Roorkee-based Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) have developed a battery-poweredsmart face maskfor labourers deployed at building construction sites.

The affordable smart face mask will give protection to workers suffering from asthma, lung infections or other pulmonary disease from dust, they said. The researchers said the smart face mask gives pure air for breathing to users as it has multi-layer filters such as electrostatic, HEPA and laser arrangements.

Desi’ cow has come to factor prominently in the final blueprint for working ofUttar Pradesh‘s first everNatural Farming Board, proposed to be headed by CMYogi Adityanath.

According to a draft document of theAgriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department, farmers not possessing a ‘desi’ cow will be provided one with the support of the state animal husbandry department.

The board will lay special emphasis on convergence of various schemes crucial for efficient execution of natural farming.
