UP govt gives nod to portal enabling people to apply for EVs, claim subsidy

In a relief to e-vehicle users, the Yogi Adityanath government has approved establishment of a web portal to facilitate application and claiming of the subsidy on such vehicles.

Those who bought theirEVsin UP after October 2022 will be eligible for the subsidy.

Under this, the date of notification of the scheme will be effective from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2023.

Also, the distribution of subsidy in each vehicle category will be done as per the arrangement contained in the policy.

According to this, a 15% subsidy will be given on the factory price of EV purchased in the state.

The first two lakh two-wheeler EVs will be provided with a subsidy of Rs 5,000 each. Similarly, the first 25,000 four-wheelers will get subsidy upto Rs 1 lakh per vehicle.

The initial 400 e-buses (non-government) purchased in the state will get subsidy up to Rs 20 lakh per vehicle. Up to 10% of the factory cost will be allowed on the e-goods carrier.

Subsidy will be available on the purchase of the first 1000 e-goods carriers upto Rs 1 lakh per vehicle.

UP has benefitted from Udaan scheme launched by PM: Yogi

The chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh has benefitted immensely from the Udaan scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pointing out that the PMs dreams of air travel for the common man wearing slippers and better air Services in Uttar Pradesh are coming true.

Collecting information from the officials regarding the model, route, fuel, and of the air service, the chief minister said that Akasa Air is starting its air service for the Bengaluru-Lucknow-Mumbai route. It should also be linked to Varanasi. This route is the most frequented. It will prove to be useful for both the people of Uttar Pradesh and Akasa Air, he said.

The chief minister said that connectivity has a big contribution in speeding up the pace of development. In this context, expressways are being constructed in the state and more and more cities are being connected with air services. The is also taking cooperation from the Airport Authority of India for the necessary Infrastructure development to improve the air services, he said.

Saryu Nahar National Project Inaugurated In UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has Launched the Saryu Nahar National Project in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh.

Highlights

The project will provide water for Irrigation to over 14 lakh hectares of land and benefit about 29 lakh farmers, mainly in east Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya were among those present at the project inauguration program.

The project has been completed at a price of over Rs 9,800 crore, out of which quite Rs 4,600 crore was provisioned within the last four years.

New policy announces sops to IT sector

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet, gave its approval for the new information technology (IT) policy, under which, a target has been set to build an IT City in every region (Purvanchal, Paschimanchal, Madhyanchal and Bundelkhand) and an IT Park in every division. To encourage private investors for setting up IT Parks, a subsidy of 25 per cent or up to Rs 20 crore will also be provided.

Private IT companies will be encouraged to provide EMPLOYMENT to the youth of Uttar Pradesh. In case a company gives preference in employing the youth of UP, then a provision for recruitment assistance has been made for it. If any organisation is giving employment to at least 30 such youths who are from UP, the government will provide single-time recruitment assistance of Rs 20,000 per student per year.

Moreover, exemption will also be given to IT units employing Women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes students, transgenders and specially-abled people. As per the policy, such units will get the facility of EPF (employees’ provident fund) reimbursement. This includes new units as well as units undergoing expansion.

Govt proposes of innovation fund to boost startups

In a path breaking decision, the Uttar Pradesh government has proposed creation of the UP Innovation Fund that would boost the startup sector in the state and in turn generate EMPLOYMENT.

The state cabinet has approved the proposal for formation of Uttar Pradesh Innovation Fund under which Rs 4,000 crore will be made available to technical universities, educational institutions and higher educational institutions over a period of two to three years.

The cabinet also approved the selection of a trust, law firm and manager for the operation of the fund by a high-level committee constituted under the chairmanship of the chief secretary.

The proposal for establishment of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)/drone technology based Centre of Excellence on the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur campus has been approved by the cabinet under Uttar Pradesh Start-up Policy-2020. The centre will be set up on IIT Kanpur campus at a cost of Rs 20.30 crore.

India moving towards becoming significant defence exporter, UP will be major centre: PM Modi

Prime MinisterNarendra Modisaid while projecting theUttar PradeshDefence Industrial Corridor as an important step in the economic progress of the district and the state.

The prime minister said the country is moving from being a major importer ofdefenceproducts to becoming an important exporter and Uttar Pradesh is going to be a key centre in India’s changing identity.

New industrial units of small arms, armament, drone, aerospace, Metal components, anti-drone system and DEFENCE packaging products are coming up, Modi said and added that this will give a new identity to Aligarh and nearby areas.

Manufacturing of Brahmos missile is proposed in the Lucknow node of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. In the Jhansi node, there is a proposal to set up a missile manufacturing unit.

Cabinet approves tourism devpt plans

After getting declared Chitrakoots Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary as a tiger reserve last year, the UP cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal for development of tourist facilities around it.

A proposal in this regard was tabled by the state tourism department. The department has identified about 49 hectares of land around the Markundi inspection bungalow for development of tourist facilities in the region. The land was barren and belonged to the gram samaj. Principal secretary, tourism,MukeshMeshram said that Ranipur is UPs fourth and Bundelkhands first tiger reserve. It falls on the way to Madhya Pradeshs Panna reserve. The reserve spans across 529.89 square km which includes a buffer zone of 299.58 square km and a core of 230 square km.
Ranipur tiger reserve is covered by northern tropical dry deciduous forests and is Home to mammals like megafauna tiger, leopard, bear, spotted deer, sambhar and chinkara. As per the , the establishment of this tiger reserve will lead to opening up of eco-tourism in the area and the creation of immense EMPLOYMENT opportunities. As of now, the Ranipur wildlife sanctuary in Chitrakoot district has no tigers of its own.

Hitherto famous across the country for its laddoos, Sandila township of Hardoi is well on its way to becoming a business hub as a number of Indian and multinational industrial houses have decided to set up their factories there.

An official communiqu released in Lucknow said that major players like Pepsi, British Paints, Berger Paints, ITC Ltd., Haldiram’s and Webley & Scott have taken the initiative to set up their factories in Sandila.

Handgun biggie Webley & Scott’s world famous revolver is already being manufactured in Sandila and soon British Paints and Berger Paints will also start manufacturing their products which do not need any introduction. The release attributed the encouraging development to the Yogi Adityanath governments investor-friendly policies in the last four years that has acted as a Catalyst, making the industrial houses to head to Sandila.

The Uttar Pradesh government received Investment proposals worth over Rs 6,000 crore for setting up various industrial units in Sandila of which projects worth Rs 5,000 crore have already got off the ground. Webley & Scott has set up its plant, the maiden foreign arms manufacturing unit in UP, at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Similarly, Berger Paints Limited is setting up its factory on 35 acres of land at a cost of about Rs 850 crore. As per estimates, as many as 2,500 people will get EMPLOYMENT in the Berger Paints factory, which will start producing various types of paints by April, 2022.

Similarly, British Paints Limited, a well-known company of England, has also started construction of its unit on over 10 acres of UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) land at a cost of Rs 150 crore. A total of 600 people are expected to get employment in this factory, which is scheduled to start production next year.

Located about 60 kilometres away from Lucknow, Sandila failed to attract attention until the time Yogi Adityanath took over as chief minister of the state. But now big investors are seeking land from the UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) to set up their units in Sandila.

Other prominent investors that are setting up their Plants at Sandila include, Green Ply Company, Austin Plywood Company, Gang Industries Ltd, Varun Beverages Limited, ITC Limited, Hindustan Food Limited, Haldiram and pharmaceutical firm Swarup Chemicals.

UP launches Nand Baba Milk Mission

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Nand Baba Milk Mission at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore to increase milk production on the one hand, and, on the other, to give milk producers a fair price for their produce in villages itself.

Under the mission, milk will be formed in villages to promote precision Dairy farming, increase per animal milk productivity and provide a proper market to rural milk producers.

According to the official, steps will also be taken to overcome the shortcomings in terms of lack of required skills in milk processing and precision dairy farming. The availability of processed milk and milk products will be increased at reasonable prices and the participation of the organised sector in milk processing will also be expanded soon, he added.

The milk commissioner and mission director said, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has named the scheme after Nand Baba because he was the worlds biggest cow breeder, milk collector, butter producer and foster father of Lord Shri Krishna. Nand Baba had nine lakh cows and had donated two lakh cows to the people for their livelihood. Keeping all this in mind, it has been named as Nand Baba Milk Mission.

The missions goal is to reach from cow to the customer. Under this, the value chain involves production-collection-processing-consumer. The mission will focus on increasing milk productivity, enlarging milk collection and processing capacity, capacity development and value protection.

The official wheat procurement agencies in Uttar Pradesh have purchased one lakh metric tons of wheat from 17,440 farmers till April 12 since the procurement commenced on April 1.

The government has set up 6,000 procurement centres across the state for procurement of wheat at minimum support price from the farmers.

With the aim to double the income of the farmers, the UP government has introduced new devices and technology so that the farmers may receive the best price of their produce.

In this regard, for the first time in the country, the has introduced the electronic point of purchase (e-POP) machines for eliminating middlemen from the Marketing process while ensuring transparency in the purchase of wheat.

Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to initiate procurement by providing biometric authentication through e-POP device in wheat purchase with the aim to benefit real farmers and eliminate the role of middlemen and unauthorised persons in procurement under the minimum price support scheme.

The first procurement of wheat through e-POP was successfully made at Kundarki purchase centre of Moradabad district on April 7. The procurement of wheat through e-POP machines will start at various other purchase centres in the state soon.

In the Rabi marketing year 2021-22, procurement of wheat directly from farmers under the minimum support price scheme commenced on April 1, 2021. The government has increased the MSP of wheat from Rs 1,925 in 2020-21 to Rs 1,975 per quintal in 2021-22. Besides, the number of procurement centres has increased from 5,000 last year to 6,000 this time.

For the first time in the country, the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to involve Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the procurement of wheat. As many as 150 FPOs have been roped in the state to start with.
