Sops to elected representatives of panchayati raj institutions

In a major sop to the elected representatives of the institutions ahead of assembly Elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, announced an increase in the monthly honorarium given to village heads, block heads and district panchayat chairpersons, and an increase in allowances of members for attending meetings of zila panchayat, kshetra panchayat and gram panchayat.

The chief minister also announced the increase in the administrative and financial powers of the panchayats. The government has also increased the financial, administrative and technical powers of gram panchayat for implementation of projects

The monthly honorarium of village pradhan has been increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs. 5,000 per month. For block pramukh, the amount has been hiked from Rs 9,800 to Rs 11,300 per month. The hike for the chairperson of district panchayat will be from Rs 14,000 to Rs 15,500 per month. For the members of district panchayats the amount per sitting has been hiked from Rs 1,000 to Rs.1, 500 in a year, with a cap of six sittings.

The amount of honorarium will be distributed separately at the state level and the balance amount of the State Finance Commission will be distributed between gram panchayat, kshetra panchayat and district panchayat. The amount of honorarium will be released to the panchayats as per the requirement.

The State Government has also increased the financial, administrative and technical powers of gram panchayats for implementation of projects. The existing limit of Rs 2 lakh per work has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.

UP sets ambitious goal of one district, one stadium

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India movement and to realise the slogan, “UP will play, UP will win”, the Uttar Pradesh government has set an ambitious goal of one district, one stadium for the state.

The beginning has been made as UP is set to have four new government stadiums in Sambhal, Chandauli, Hapur and Shamli districts.

The state cabinet approved building of a cricket stadium in Bhartara village of Chandausi tehsil in Sambhal district. The District Administration will provide land free of cost to the Youth Welfare department for the stadium.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has undertaken a number of initiatives in the recent past which reflect his seriousness about Sports. The chief minister wants UP to be represented well in national and international sports competitions and is leaving no stone unturned to provide all the necessary facilities to ensure this.

UPs first air pollution control tower to be launched

Trial runs of the states firstair pollution control tower(APCT), which has come up on the green belt ofDND ExpresswaynearFilm CitySector 16, commencedrecently.

Air Pollution during the winter months of November to January every year had led the authority to draw up the plan to set up an APCT, apart from measures like water sprinkling and imposing fines on construction sites.

The tower, built at a cost of Rs 4 crore by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), will suck in polluted air and the filters, installed at its base, will capture the particulate matter.

The tower also has an automatic pulse jet-type dust cleaning system to clean the PM 2.5 filter periodically at regular intervals.

Many west UP districts have very poor air quality: CPCB data

With winter about to set in and pollution levels assuming alarming proportions during the morning hours, those out for a walk in many areas of west UP are at a risk of getting their lung Health affected.

As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, many districts like Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Noida fall into ‘very poor’ category as far as air quality is concerned.

The AQI of prominent pollutant PM2.5 hovers between 200 and 300 in many areas, causing breathing issues due to prolonged exposure, which further slides down to ‘very poor category (300-400 range) “during late nights and early mornings”, causing respiratory illness on prolonged exposure.

Even as crime against children declined, the offences committed by juveniles shot up by 23% in 2020, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) statistics.

As many as 976 crimes were committed by children in 2019 which went up to 1,282 in 2020.
Data shows that 238 cases of crimes were committed by minors under the POSCO Act, followed by theft (219), burglary (75) and rape (54 cases).

Out of 1,282 minors booked in 2020, at least 575 had passed Class 10. As per the record of cities mentioned in NCRB report, Lucknow recorded 120 cases of crimes committed by juveniles in 2020, up from 63 reported in 2019. In Kanpur, 10 cases were committed by juveniles in 2019 which rose to 15 in 2020.

Establishing direct interaction with athletes from the state set to represent the country in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised them for their struggle, determination and sustained efforts and also urged every citizen to bolster their enthusiasm.Uttar Pradesh has a representation of a total of 10 players for the Tokyo Olympics, namely Priyanka Goswami, Annu Rani, Seema Punia, Shivpal Singh, Satish Kumar, Vandana Kataria, Saurabh Chaudhary, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Lalit Upadhyay and Arvind Singh.

Earlier, the UP government had announced that all athletes from the state who win a gold medal at Tokyo Olympics would be rewarded with Rs 6 crore, every silver medalist with Rs 4 crore and bronze medal winners with Rs 2 crore. For team events, each winning player will be rewarded with Rs 3 crore for gold medal, while silver and bronze medalists will be rewarded with Rs 2 and Rs 1 crore each respectively. Besides all UP athletes participating in the Olympics will be rewarded with Rs 10 lakh each, independent of their performance at the games.

Ayodhya to be made the most beautiful city: CM

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Ayodhya would be made one of the most beautiful cities of the world with an of over Rs 32,000 crore, and it would not only add sheen to the majestic grandeur of the holy city but also boost local economy, generating EMPLOYMENT opportunities for the local youth.

One of the key milestones would be the installation of Ram Lalla, the idol of Lord Ram, in his own temple. This historic event is scheduled for January. The people have a strong sense of Lord Rams presence in their lives, and the construction of the temple will be a manifestation of their devotion and belief, the chief minister said while addressing a rally in Ayodhya on the completion of nine years of the Narendra Modi government on Thursday.

The chief minister said that Ayodhya held a special place in the hearts of millions of people and even for those who were not fortunate enough to be born here desired to be present when the Ram temple would be dedicated to people.

He said that Ayodhya had become a city that every major city aspired to connect with. New airport is coming up and the city is now linked with expressways. It is a matter of time when Ayodhya will be transformed into the new Ayodhya, he said.

4,000 council schools to be developed in next 3 years

Prioritising quality Education and Skill development of children in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has made a provision of Rs 2,000 crore for it in the recently presented budget 2023-24.

A total of Rs 1,000 crore will be spent on developing schools in every development block (a total of 880 primary and upper primary schools) run under the Basic Education department under the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Composite Schools programme.

The governments intention was to develop about 4,000 (4-5 in each development block) Abhyudaya Composite Schools in the next three years.

For this, the Basic Education department has prepared an action plan, on which further action is being taken. By upgrading these schools from pre-primary to class 8, the is not only trying to provide quality education to every student, but also aims to equip schools with all the facilities to develop students’ skills.

Under the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Composite School, the council composite schools already running will be upgraded with modern facilities on the basis of graded Learning concept. These schools will be specially encouraged for inclusive and skill development of children as per the National Education Policy-2020. After the upgradation of these schools, arrangement of separate classrooms will be ensured from pre-primary to class 8. Each school will be developed with a capacity of about 450 students. The all-round intellectual development of the students studying in these schools will be done through high quality education and a better educational Environment. Water and sanitation related Infrastructure facilities will also be upgraded while strengthening all the facilities and classrooms already built.

UPs ethanol production set to see a boom this fiscal

Uttar Pradeshs ethanol production is likely to cross 135 crorelitre markduring the present fiscal owing to more number of distilleries producing the renewable fuel over the past one year.

To note, UP is the first state to achieve the 10% ethanol-petrol blending programme target set by the Union Government. During the previous fiscal (2021-22) the distilleries in the state generated 97 crore litre of ethanol.

New textile, garmenting policy approved

To make Uttar Pradesh a textile hub, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a new textile and garmenting policy to ensure development of all units through hand-holding and attracting private in this sector.

The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held here on Thursday.

The cabinet has also approved the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022 and it authorised the chief minister to make any kind of amendment in it.

The main objective of the new policy is to establish the state as a global level garment manufacturing centre and Sustainable Development of all types of units related to textile Industry like handloom, powerloom, spinning, weaving, processing, and garmenting.

The specific objective of the policy is to attract private investment of Rs 10,000 crore in the textile and apparel sector, to create EMPLOYMENT opportunities for five lakh people, develop five textile and garment parks in the private sector, and to increase the income of handloom and powerloom weavers.

Under the new policy, 25 per cent capital subsidy will be provided to textile and garments units on investment made on purchase of Plants and machinery. Apart from this, additional capital subsidy will be reimbursed at the rate of 5 per cent to textile and garments units to be set up in Madhyanchal region of the state and at the rate of 10 per cent to textile and garments units to be set up in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.
