Allahabad: PM Narendra Modi to boost women empowerment, transfer Rs 1,000 crore to SHGs

The Sangam city is all decked up to welcome Prime MinisterNarendra Modiwho will attend a programme on Tuesday to promoteWomen Empowermentand transfer Rs 1,000 crore to the bank accounts of self-help groups benefiting 16 lakh women.

A pandal has been prepared on 85,000 square metre area on Parade ground where arrangement has been made for seating of around 3.5 lakh women. The stage has been handed over to the special protection group (SPG) for security reasons.

The organisers have decided that the beneficiaries will be seated in threee wings, nine rows and 68 blocks. At least 1,920 teachers have been put on duty and 383 teachers have been posted as nodal officers. Arrangement has been made for parking of 4,000 vehicles.

The women beneficiaries include BC Sakhis (60,000), community toilet operators (57,000), take-Home ration plant operators (4,040), SHG workers (1.15 lakh), and Kanya Sumangala (37,000).

PM Hands Over Advanced Electronic Warfare System Shakti To The Indian Navy In Jhansi (UP)

In the Uttar Pradesh city of Jhansi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over an advanced electronic warfare system known as ‘Shakti’ to the Navy on 19 November 2021.

Highlights:

Shakti is designed to intercept, detect, classify, identify, and jam both traditional and modern radars. Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) built it for the Navy’s capital warships.

The Prime Minister also presented the Chief of the Naval Staff with a miniature replica of the Shakti EW System at Jhansi Fort as part of the three-day ‘Raksha Samarpan Parv,’ .

Shakti will improve the navy’s electronic intelligence capability for early warning, ship defense against missile assault, marine domain awareness, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and assure electronic dominance in maritime warfare, according to the announcement made at the ceremony.

Yogi cabinet approves new electric vehicle manufacturing policy

In a bid to promote faster adoption of clean mobility solutions and create a conducive ecosystem for electric vehicles in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath cabinet approved the new Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy-2022 on Thursday.

Under the new policy, a huge subsidy will be given by the on the purchase of electric vehicles.

He said the new electric vehicle policy aimed not only at developing an eco-friendly transport system in the state but also to make Uttar Pradesh a global hub for manufacturing of electric vehicles, batteries and related equipment.

A provision for a three-pronged incentive system has been made in the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy-2022 that includes benefits to consumers for purchasing EVs; to manufacturers of EV, EV batteries and related components; and to service providers developing charging/swapping facilities.

During the first three years of the effective period of the new policy, there will be 100 per cent road tax and registration fee exemption on the purchase of all categories of electric vehicles. If the electric vehicle is manufactured in the state, the same exemption will continue in the fourth and fifth years also.

Modi Van Launched By Amit Shah

The Home Minister Amit Shah has launched Modi Van, Mobile medical vans on 19 October in UP.

Highlights:

Five Mobile Medical Vans, called Modi Vans, were launched in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh.

These vans have been launched under the Seva Hi Sangathan program of BJP.

These were started to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 20 years as the Head of the government.

The Five Mobile Medical Vans will operate in five Assembly Constituencies in Kaushambi.

These vans will work under the agency of Kaushambi Vikas Parishad, run by BJPs National Secretary Vinod Sonkar.

The Modi Van will also help in raising vaccination awareness against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

A total of 79,400 girls have completed their course at 746 branches of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in the state of Uttar Pradesh despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Driven by its mission to educate and empower the girl child, the Yogi Adityanath government ensured that classes did not stop for a single day at all the branches of the school spread over 746 development blocks. The classes were conducted through e-pathshala, Doordarshan and WhatsApp. Besides, educational programmes were also organised for students on YouTube. Out of 746 KGBVs, 446 are for girls studying in Classes VI to XII and 300 for Classes VI to VIII.

Apart from Education, Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools also offer residential facilities to the girls belonging to Scheduled Castes , Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minorities and below https://exam.pscnotes.com/POVERTY-line”>Poverty Line families.

The government is also empowering girls by holding self-DEFENCE training and scout guide related activities, Meena Manch, as well as organising vocational courses and Skill development programmes.

35 lakh households got power every year between 2017-21 in Uttar Pradesh

Electrification of households during theBJPregime increased by four times in comparison to that in the SP regime, an internal report of UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has stated.
According to the report, an Average of 9.55 lakh households were electrified every year between 2012 and 2017, when the SP government was in power. In four years of the BJP rule, an average of 35.2 lakh households have been electrified every year.

The report also claims that the aggregate transmission and commercial (AT&C) losses, which also signify incidents of power theft, saw reduction from around 40% during the previous SP regime to around 24% at present.

Under the Saubhagya scheme alone, more than 1.4 crore households have been electrified by the since September 2017.

The report points out that around 4,130 circuit Km (cKm) of underground cabling works have been carried out in 636 towns under the Centres flagship IntegratedPower Development Scheme. In fact, 7,200 cKm overhead lines have been replaced with underground cabling, the report said.

UP to increase its green area

In a unique initiative to increase the green area from 9 per cent to 15 per cent by 2026-2027, the Uttar Pradesh government has set a target of planting 35 crore saplings and protecting them this year.

The government has set plantation targets for all the departments and divisions as part of the statewide campaign that will run from July 1 to 7.

The Yogi Adityanath government has also given instructions for availability of high quality saplings to people. Furthermore, the government has directed officials to prepare for planting five crore saplings on Independence Day.

The Yogi government aims at achieving the department-wise targets through cooperation of people. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave instructions in this regard at a recent meeting to make the campaign successful.

There will also be geo tagging of plantation sites. On the other hand, 12.60 crore saplings will be planted by the Forest department and about 22.40 crore saplings by other departments in the mandals.

In order to make the entire state green, the Yogi Adityanath government has asked the officials to plant trees in Forest land, village panchayat and community land, land surrounding expressways and canals, development authority industrial complex land, land for industrial complexes, DEFENCERAILWAY land, land for medical and educational institutions, and other state land with the cooperation of farmers.

The sustainable aroma cluster has been developed by CIMAP on the land of 30 farmers by cultivating aromatic plants in an eco-friendly manner. The cluster will set an example of use of sustainable practices in agriculture and help the country attain zero-Carbon Emission goals.
CIMAP has planted a high-yielding mint variety (CIM-Unnati) in the cluster which is resistant to biotic Stress, including plant pests and diseases and tolerant to abiotic stresses, including drought, untimely rains, salinity, heat, cold and heavy metals. The cluster will serve as a model for farmers to replicate across the state.

Uttar Pradesh has become one of the first states in the country to successfully operationalise ELDERLINE, a helpline to assist and comfort senior citizens amidst the COVID-19 pandemic across the state.

In order to address the concerns and grievances of the people aged above 60 years, the Union Ministry of Social and Empowerment came up with an initiative to reach out to the vulnerable section and help them in terms of Health concerns, emotional support and legal aid.

The toll-free helpline facility, made operational in Uttar Pradesh on May 14, will extend complete support to the elderly across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The helpline (14567) is being cited as a critical step to reach the elderly in need during the pandemic in the state, as it receives as many as 80 to 90 actionable calls on a daily basis from various districts of Uttar Pradesh ranging from NOIDA to Ballia.

It is pertinent to note that the facility has already been made operational in five major states of UP, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and efforts are being made to make them functional in all states by the end of this month. The ELDERLINE is a facility operationalised with the assistance of Tata Trusts and NSE foundation.

Over 50% of ruralfamilies in 22 UPdistricts get tap water

In a significant achievement, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided tap water connections to more than 50 per cent of rural families in 22 districts across the state under Har Ghar Nal Yojana.

These districts, among others, include Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Gorakhpur, the hometown of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Besides, seven districts from Bundelkhand region are incorporated in the list.

Under Har Ghar Nal Yojana, tap water connections were provided to 99,16,379 families in UP until Tuesday. The government aims to provide tap connections to 2,65,46,370 rural households by 2024.

The Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply department has also expedited the process to finish the task of providing tap water to every household in the remaining 53 districts in order to meet the target.

In terms of the number of tap water connections provided, Uttar Pradesh currently ranks third in the country, with 22 districts of the state having achieved more than 50 per cent of the target.

All seven districts of Bundelkhand have been provided with more than 50 per cent of its tap water connection needs. In Jhansi, 71.21 per cent of households now have access to tap water. Chitrakoot (67.33 per cent) is fifth among districts providing maximum tap connections while Banda ranks sixth with 64.82 per cent of households getting tap water.
