Telangana has 2.9 crore voters, 2.7 lakh names deleted: CEC

Chief electoral officer Vikas Raj on Thursday released final electoral list for 119 assembly constituences, pegging the total voters in the state at 2.99 crore.

Addressing reporters at his chambers here, Vikas Raj said that 6.8 lakh new voters have been added to the list while 2.7 lakh names have been deleted. The voters numbers drop from 3 crore in draft rolls announced in January 2022 owing to continous updation process that saw both additions and deletions for various reasons.

He said the number of young voters in the age group of 18-19 had gone up to 2.7 lakh. Also, a total of 2,808 people from primitive vulnerable tribal groups have been enrolled during the summary revision of electoral rolls. The third gender votes stood at 1,951.

Centre to review management of river boards

Expressing displeasure over the delay in implementation of gazette notification of management ofriver boards, theCentrehas decided to take stock of the situation with AP andTelangana.

Union Ministry for Jal Shakti secretary, Pankaj Kumar, will conduct areviewvia video-conference with chief secretaries of AP and Telangana on Tuesday. In a communication sent to the chief secretary, Dr Sameer Sharma, Pankaj Kumar said the progress of the implementation of the provisions in gazette notification was not satisfactory. He said no state has deposited seed money of Rs 200 crore each to theKrishnaRiver Management Board (KRMB) andGodavariRiver Management Board (GRMB) even after lapse of five months.

The state government had argued that inclusion of projects which do not share common interest between AP and Telangana would complicate the implementation of the gazette notification.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which owns and operatesHyderabad airport, is set to invest over Rs 500 crore towards metro connectivity at the airport. As per the company, theTelangana governmenthad sought financial contribution fromGHIALfor the metro project.

Considering the importance of providing metro rail connectivity for passengers, the board of GHIAL has recommended that it provides support up to 10% of the project cost.

The project cost of metro line would be around Rs 5000 crore and the company will be investing Rs 519.52 crore in the project, as per the report Application for determination of aeronautical tariffs for the third control period (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026) submitted to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).

GHIAL is also investing Rs 300 crore towards airfield pavement enhancement and Rs 75 crore on airfield ground lighting upgrade. The company has awarded the contract and works are in full swing to complete the same while air traffic movement is contained due toCovidand said it expects to complete it in the next 10 months, as per the report.

Telangana to house world’s first 3D printed temple

Telanganais all set to house what is being claimed as the worlds first 3D printed place of worship with Hyderabad-based construction playerApsuja Infratechjoining hands with Mumbai-based additive manufacturing solutions providerSimpliforge Creations.

The3D printed temple, which is coming up at Apsuja Infratechs upcoming project at Siddipet, is a three-part structure spread over 3,800 sq ft and 30 feet in height and is slated to be completed by July. The 3D structure is expected to take 2-3 months from start to finish vis a vis a conventional construction which would have taken more than double the time.

The structure is being 3D printed by Simpliforge, which claims to have Indias first and South Asias largest robotics construction 3D printing facility, with the help of their in-house developed system and indigenously developed material and software.

The 3D printed temple will have three sanctums a modak dedicated tolord Ganesha, a square Shivalay devoted to Lord Shankar and a lotus-shaped one for Goddess Parvati. While the Shivalay and Modak have been completed, the construction of the lotus and tall spires (Gopurams) are already underway.

NGT directs Telangana not to proceed with Sitamma Sagar project without EC

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered Telangana not to proceed withSitamma Sagarmulti-purpose irrigation project on riverGodavariin Bhadradri-Kothagudem district without obtaining environmental clearance (EC).

Tellam Naresh of Bhadradri-Kothagudem andBura Laxminarayanaof Mulugu filed an application before the NGT Southern Bench alleging that the Sitamma Sagar multi-purpose project at Ammagaripalli village ofAswapurammandal, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district had commenced work without the EC. They alleged it was a violation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006.

12 lakh acres of forest land encroached: Forum for Good Governance

About 12 lakh acres of forest land, especially in Godavari Valley, covering districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam, has been encroached, Forum for Good Governance (FGG) said.

Stating that the encroachment was caught on satellite imagery, FGG said if the 12 lakh acres of podu cultivation is regularised, it will lead to more encroachments. It warned that in the next 10 years, there may not be any forest land left in Telangana thanks to rampant podu cultivation

Criticising the political parties for demanding regularisation of podu cultivation, he said they should see the larger interests of the state and environment and not make it as an election issue.

He said the forest department was unable to control podu cultivation and in the process 2.5 lakh acres of forest land, which was encroached mostly by people of neighbouring states, was regularised. “With the tacit support of Naxalites and a few political parties, illegal occupation of forests for podu cultivation continued,” Reddy said.

Telanganas low tenant landholding bodes well for crop shift plan

Among top paddy cultivating states in the country,Telanganahas the second-lowest tenant landholding at 17.3%. The neighbouring Andhra Pradesh has the largest tenant landholding at 42% in the country.

Telangana govt announces Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for Nalgonda

Fulfilling its promises made to Munugode assembly constituency voters during by-poll held last month, theTelanganagovernment announced Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for theNalgondadistrict.

Around Rs 400 crore worth of works would be taken up in the Munugode assembly constituency from the sanctioned amount. The rest of the amount would be spent on roads, infrastructure improvement, civic works, construction of a hospital and other works.

The government also announced to set up a toy park in Dandumalkapur industrial park which would provide employment to about 10,000 youths.

At 7,000 crore, Telangana registration income higher than pre-Covid collection

The enhanced land rates four months ago seem to have made no dent in the revenues as the registration department’s coffers continue to swell. In the past eight months alone, the government has netted Rs 7,000 crore, which is twice the revenue earned during pre-Covid time and more than three times during the 2020-21 financial year.

Of the 12 lakh documents registered by the registration and stamps (R&S) department, over three lakh pertain to agriculture properties that were registered through Dharani web land portal. Among the districts, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Sangareddy and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri contributed the lion’s share (60%) of the revenue.

The official said of the eight months in the current financial year (2021-2022), the department earned over Rs 1,000 crore in just a month.
