Govt working on innovative methods to tackle SCD: Munda

Observing World Sickle Cell Day on Monday, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, chaired a Sensitization Workshop on Sickle Cell Anaemia Disease, organised at the National Tribal Research Institute in New Delhi.

Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), a genetic condition, is widespread among the tribal Population in India where it is estimated that about 1 in 86 births among STs have SCD. The disease affects haemoglobin (responsible for carrying Oxygen in the body) in red blood cells, which can result in morbidity and mortality via distinct pathways. Therefore, early detection, management, and treatment of SCD is of utmost importance to enable the affected individuals to lead a long and fulfilling life. The elimination of the disease is extremely significant for the general Health conditions of the nation.

In order to discuss recent developments in the management of Sickle Cell condition, including early detection and new treatments, the workshop brought together a group of experts on the condition from throughout India.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed officers of the energy department to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply.He said that the department should take all appropriate steps towards making the State self-reliant in the field of power generation.

The CM said that today the time has come to develop non-conventional sources of energy, in such a situation, possibilities should be explored in the field of power generation from solar power and hydroelectric projects in the state. He asked the department to serve all the reservoirs for hydroelectric projects and prepare an action plan regarding its potential generation capacity.

The CM said that there is a lot of potential in the field of solar power energy in the State. But, for this a huge amount of land is required. In such a situation, a land bank will be created to install the solar power plant. In this direction, he asked the department to prepare the details of the land requirement while assessing the production capacity of the solar power plant. The aim of the government is to focus on installing more and more solar power Plants in the State.

The Average power demand in the state at present is 2050 MW. Whereas there will be a demand of 2900 MW in the next five years and 3440 MW in the coming ten years. The Energy Department has set a target to reduce the transmission and distribution loss from 45 per cent to 20 per cent in the coming days.

Mission Life campaign launched in Jharkhand

The Mission Life campaign has been started by the Government of India to adopt an Environment-friendly lifestyle, a swearing-in ceremony was organized in the auditorium of the Rural Development Department to maintain a green and healthy environment for the betterment of the coming generations.

It was presided over by MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B. DDC, Project Officer and BDO were administered oath for green and healthy environment through virtual medium along with senior office bearers and office workers. On this occasion, Rajeshwari B told people to save energy, save water, do not use plastic, and nutritious food, reduce garbage, healthy lifestyle and reduce electronic waste. Along with this, she also took a pledge to protect the environment.

Under Secretary, Arun Kumar Sinha said that the objective of Mission Life is to adopt and promote a lifestyle that does not harm the environment. The objective of this mission is to enhance the healthy Climate by implementing small steps and measures at the individual and community level, he added.

Ranchi district has reported exactly half of the 82 Covid deaths that occurred in Jharkhand since March 10, indicating that the state capital was accounting for more casualties during the second wave of Covid-19 in comparison with East Singhbhum, which reported the highest casualties during the first wave last year.

As per figures compiled by the National Health Mission (NHM), Ranchi accounts for 41 of the 82 Covid casualties reported in the state in the past one month. On the other hand, East Singhbhum, which continues to top among Jharkhand districts in terms of Covid casualties, has reported only seven Covid fatalities since March 10, reveals NHM data.

As per NHM data, Ranchi reported 7,017 of the 14,279 fresh Covid cases in Jharkhand since March 10. In totality, the district accounts for 40,407 of the 1,34,715 cases of Covid infection reported in Jharkhand so far. The figures indicate that Ranchi has reported 49 per cent of cases in the past one month and only 29 per cent of the total cases reported in Jharkhand so far.

As per figures with the NHM, Ranchi accounts for 290 of the 1175 Covid casualties about 24 per cent in Jharkhand so far.

Cabinet nod to amend 2015 Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission exam regulations

The cabinet of chief ministerHemant Soren approved amendments to fourJharkhand Staff Selection Commission(Jssc) examination regulations of 2015 and removed two clauses which were struck down by the Jharkhand in the state’s 2021 recruitment policy.

The clause, which mandated that aspirants would have to pass their matriculation and intermediate level examinations or their equivalent from Jharkhand-based schools, were struck down from the JSSC exam regulations (matric/ Class 10 level), JSSC exam regulations (intermediate/10+2 level), JSSC exam regulations (graduate level), and JSSC exam regulations (graduate technical level).

The cabinet also approved the inclusion of Hindi, English and Sanskrit in these exams alongside 12 existing regional languages, including Bengali, Urdu, Santhali, Ho, Kudhuk, andPanch Parganiya.

The amendments were approved after 73% of the 7 lakh job aspirants voted in favour of conducting the exams based on regulations prior to 2016 after the recruitment policy of 2021 was struck down by the court late last year.

Having actively participated in the Jaiprakash Narayan’s ‘total revolution’ in the 1970s he has been a member of the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since he was a teenager. Radhakrishnan joined the Jan Sangha in 1973 and later entered electoral politics.
He was elected to the lower house twice – in 1998 and 1999 representing Coimbatore.

NABARD mulls over credit requirement for primary sector

National Bank Agricultural and Rural Development () is organising the State Level Credit Seminar 2022-23 in Ranchi on Tuesday to deliberate upon the strategy tobring about the convergence and synergy of programs and plans of the State Government, NABARD, Banks, Civil Society Organisations and others to ensure optimum exploitation of the developmental potential of the State and finalise credit requirement for primary sectors for the year 2022-23.

As part of the credit planning exercise, NABARD has been preparing the district level Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs) for each district every year of the State. These documents reflect the credit potential at ground level, as also Infrastructure facilities and linkages necessary for achieving the available potential.

In terms of RBI instructions, the PLPs form the basis for Annual Credit Plans of the banks. The State Focus Paper (SFP), inter alia, is the culmination of the PLP exercise at the State level. It also facilitates the State Government to prioritize allocation of funds for developing rural infrastructure and other development initiatives in the State.

The State Focus Paper (SFP) for the year 2022-23 presents the exploitable potentials in terms of physical and financial quantifications together with sectoral analysis to strategize an implementable State credit programme for the overall Growth in the Priority Sector in the State. The document also contains important suggestions and inputs for being incorporated into the State budget for the year 2022-23.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India chaired a review meeting through video conferencing for the eradication of Kala-azar in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Health Minister of Jharkhand, Banna Gupta, along with health ministers of other states and high level officials participated in this meeting. In the meeting Dr. Mandaviya also inaugurated the video message given by Indian cine artist Manoj Bajpayee on Kala-azar.

On this occasion, the message given by the Prime Minister, Government of India in his Mann Ki Baat programme was also narrated, in which he said “control of sand fly and early detection and complete treatment of Kala-azar disease” is very necessary. Dr. Mandaviya, in his address, directed that the supply of essential medicines is ensured by the Central Government, but their implementation will have to be ensured by the State.

In the programme, Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar, State Health and Family Welfare Minister, Government of India, said that for the total eradication of Kala-azar disease, there is a need to work under a well-planned strategy of identification of Kala-azar patients. He suggested that the new initiative of Jharkhand, in which intensive surveillance is done in rural areas through ambulances, can be adopted by other states as well.

Adani Power’s thermal plant in Jharkhand begins commercial operation

Adani Power Ltd (APL) said a 800 MW unit at its thermal plant in Jharkhand has begun commercial operations.

The second unit of the 1600 MW project is also in an advanced stage of completion and expected to be commissioned soon.

This is to inform unit 1 of 800 MW capacity of the 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical power project of Adani Power (Jharkhand) Limited (APJL), situated in Godda has achieved commercial operations.

Mobile vans to develop reading habits among students

In order to compensate for the loss of studies of students due to the corona pandemic especially in rural areas, the State Education department has decided to roll out mobile reading vans. These mobile vans will be like mini libraries having books, magazines for all age groups of students. The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) will run these mobile vans as a campaign for 100 days. The focus areas of these mobile vans will be educationally backward areas where the students have failed to connect digitally with various educational TEACHING provided by JEPC.

The Jharkhand Education Project Council has issued a guideline for mobile chariots. JEPC’s State Project Director Kiran Kumari Pasi has directed all the districts that in the era of Covid pandemic, the areas where children have been deprived of education, these reading chariots will move. In an area the vans will move for two to three hours. During this time, the children of the area will come there and will be able to study. The logo of the and the banner of the reading campaign will be displayed in these vans. It has also been directed that with each van, there will be two volunteers and a teacher who will motivate students for availing the facilities.

From these vans children will be issued instructions through loudspeakers. The jobs of volunteers and teachers will also to clear the query of students regarding their studies. The JEPC has also issued directions that all Covid protocols should be followed during the movement of these vans.
