SC appreciates Gujarats e-nirman portal

TheSupreme Courthas made a special mention aboutGujaratse-nirman portalfor the registration of construction workers and for the issuance of U-Win cards for the unorganized-sector workers.

The e-nirman portal was launched by CM Vijay Rupani on June 8. Gujarat became the first state in the country to launch such a digital platform to register unorganized-sector workers through a common service centre.

The state labour department indicated in its affidavit that an online portal and mobile application have been set up for the registration of construction workers. This is to ensure seamless and smooth grant of various central and state-sponsored welfare schemes. The portal is operational. Registrations will be done through about 21,300 service centres, which were previously limited to 33 board offices. Labourers can also register through the mobile app.

Gujarat govt approves Rs 2,213.60 crore for roads on 94 stretches

The Gujarat government has approved Rs 2,213.60 crore for 919-km-long road covering94 stretchesfrom small villages to metro cities.

Chief minister Bhupendra Patelhas sanctioned 94 works, including four lanes, 10 meters wide, road strengthening, bridges, bypasses on the state highways conecting , industrial centers, metropolises and tourist destinations.

Also with context to Parikrama Path Yojana announced in this year’s budget, works worth Rs 467.09 crore have been sanctioned for widening 289.32 km of 37 roads passing through 17 districts to 10 meters.

Environment, safety and health e-conclave held at Bharuch

A two-day e-conclave on the far-ranging topics of Environment, safety and Health (EHS), jointly organized by Rotary Club, Dahej.

Economist Jay Narayan Vyas stressed on the importance of protecting the environment and promoting a culture of health and safety, during the inaugural session of the conclave.

Discussions on varied topics such as the new Occupational Hazard Safety act, accident prevention through cleaner production audit, water conservation and process safety were held during the conclave.

International flights from Vadodara airport soon

With immigration and customs facilities all set to be started soon atVadodara airport, Barodians can look forward to international air connectivity in the future. At least flights to Dubai or Sharjah will start.
Vadodara MPRanjan Bhatton Sunday said that Union Home ministerAmit Shahduring his visit to the city on Saturday had handed over the gazette notification issued by the Centre through which Vadodara airport will get immigration and customs facilities.

Since the inauguration of the new terminal building, the demand for airline connectivity to international destinations has been on a rise. “The airport in Vadodara has got approval to start international Services,” said Bhatt, adding that Shah handed over the gazette notification for starting immigration and customs facilities at Vadodara airport. She thanked prime minister, home minister and civil aviation minister for starting the facilities at the airport.

Gujarat Sports Policy 2022-27

The objective of Sports Policy 2022-27 is to change the sports scenario in Gujarat.

An equal emphasis has been laid on promoting the sports talent in Gujarat and also creating world-class sports across the state.

Through this policy, the Gujarat government aims to encourage and promote sports culture by organizing national and international tournaments and giving prizes to all sportspersons. The government also wants to conduct amateur and professional sports leagues and implement efficient sports Governance in Gujarat.

About the High-Performance Centers (HPCs)

The Sports Policy 2022-27 envisages establishing four new High-Performance Centers (HPCs) for elite athletes, which provide training facilities of international standards.

One of the new HPCs will be specifically for the training purposes of the para-athletes.

To provide personalized Training and Development, HPCs will have a specialized team of physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists, strength coaches, and sports analysts.

Apart from HPCs, eight centers of excellence will also be established. The participation of the Private sector will be encouraged in establishing both HPCs and centers of excellence.

Other highlights of the policy

The policy lays down a three-tier elite athlete development program.

Huge cash Awards and incentives are also promised for sportspersons.

A sports incubator will also be established.

Data analytics and sports science will be introduced in the curriculum of Sports University.

The Sports Authority of Gujarat will be the nodal agency to implement the policy.

Benefits to allied sectors

The creation of infrastructure facilities will not only benefit athletes, but also those in the allied sectors. The policy also proposes to establish an industrial cluster comprising companies that manufacture sports goods. Thus, it will give a boost to Gujarats manufacturing sector.

Mega line to be desilted, 1.1k units to stop production

Around 1,100 chemicals and textiles units in key industrial areas like Naroda,Odhav, and Vatva will remain shut for around 10 days from March 5 as the Ahmedabad Mega Clean Association (AMCA) will carry out desilting work of the mega pipeline.

To do this work, AMCA will also put meters at key locations to measure effluent water flow.

AMCA, the operating body of the mega line of industrial effluent ofcommoneffluent treatment Plants (CETPs), has told its members that the desilting activity starts from March 5 and no discharge would be allowed in the mega line till the desilting work is completed.

The mega line was set up in 2001 to carry treated effluent water from Odhav, Naroda and Vatva CETPs. It is a 27km line with a capacity of 75 MLD.

MoU: QX Global to create 2,000 IT jobs

TheGujaratgovernment signed its firstMoUunder the newly introduced IT/ITES policy withQX Global groupfor strategic PARTNERSHIP in the field of business process management.

The CM said the government would provide all necessary assistance for the companys Gujarat operations.

As a result of the fresh MoU, an additional 2,000 jobs would be created in the IT sector in the coming years.

QX Global Group is a provider of business process management Services.

Air action plans for 4 Gujarat cities approved by CPCB: Barad

The air action plans for fourGujaratcities have been approved by theCentral Pollution Control Board(CPCB), said GPCB chairman R BBarad, while overseeing a state-level workshop on Air Quality Management and Emissions Reduction.

About 75 participants from various government departments, institutes and NGOs from across the state had participated in a series of workshops that were focussed on improving air quality across Gujarat under the National Clean Air Action Plan (NCAP).

State Board for Wildlife formed in Gujarat after 15 months

TheGujarat governmentafter over a year has finally constituted the 27-memberState Board for Wildlife(SBWL).

The board will be headed by the chief minister and will have former forest officials as expert.

Sources in the department said that the term of the last board had ended in December 21 but later it was extended for three months and the last meeting of the SBWL was held on March 22, since then there was no SBWL in the state.

The board will have three representatives from non-government organizations which include director, GEER Foundation, Gandhinagar, member secretary,GujaratEcology Commission (GEC), and representative of Nature Club, Surat.

Gujarat HC seeks status report on deep-sea discharge project

TheGujarat has asked the State Government to place an appropriate report on status of its deep-sea effluent disposal pipeline project for Ahmedabad region and it commented that if this gets materialised, it could save theSabarmatiriver.

The court was informed that a tender with estimation cost of Rs 1,647.4 crore was invited online by the Gujarat Water Infrastructures Ltd in October 2020. There was no information about what happened after the tender was floated.
