Centre withdraws PMAY allocation from Chhattisgarh

TheCentral governmenthas withdrawn its allocation forPradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-graminwith immediate effect stating that repeated Persuasion for expediting the progress of scheme,Chhattisgarhdidnt show satisfactory results on various parameters.

A letter issued by Ministry of rural development to government of Chhattisgarh, stated, Chhattisgarh has not expedited the progress of satisfactory results in respect of various parameters: registrations of new houses, sanctioning of new houses toPMAY-G beneficiaries, completion of previous allocated houses etc. All this besides release of long pending states share under PMAY till date.

An officer in Chhattisgarh said that the state would soon write to the Ministry citing the reason for non-payment of its share due to pandemic and that the decision should be revoked. He said that the state ratio of 60:10 towards PMAY-G.

Chhattisgarh: 21 lakh farmers received third installment of Rs 1,500 cr under govt’s flagship scheme

A day after Congress hinted at the possibility of promising increase inminimum support price(MSP) for paddy in poll-boundUttar Pradesh,Chhattisgarhchief ministerBhupesh Baghel released Rs 1,500 crore to the states farmers underRajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay YojanaandGodhan Nyay Yojana.

This is the third instalment of states flagship scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Rs 10.81 crore as dividend to farmers, who sold cow dung to the state under the states unique Godhan Nyay Yojna under which the state procures cow dung from people at a price of Rs two per kilogram.

Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana was launched in the year 2020 with an objective of providing a fair price to the farmers for their produce, promoting the productivity ofKharif cropsand crop diversification, with a retrospective effect, its benefits from the Kharif Marketing year.
Hence in this year in 2021-22, an amount of around Rs 1,525 crore was paid to the farmers on May 22 as the first installment in their account. Second installment of Rs 1,522 was transferred on August 20 on the occasion of birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi under the scheme.

The Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission called for starting a Yoga Wing in schools, holding yoga classes in urban bodies and yoga camps in rural areas.

Social Welfare Minister Anila Bhedia presided over the fourth general body meeting of the Commission here, an official Communication said.

As a pilot project, from next month, classes will commence in all the 70 wards of Raipur Municipal Corporation. A yoga wing will be opened in the schools.

The yoga classes and yoga camps will be held from September to December.

The meeting also gave Consent for yoga programmes for pregnant Women with assistance from Unicef. The project will be implemented in Kondagaon district.

1% state population suffers from genetic blood disorder sickle cell

One per cent of the Population ofChhattisgarhis suffering fromsickle cell, a genetic blood disorder. All the community Health centers, district hospitals, and medical college hospitals in the state have the facility of free tests, medication, and consultations.

Sicklecell anemic patients are also provided free blood whenever required from licensed blood banks. The state Health Department has recently decided to conduct a sickle cell test for all pregnant Women and children as life of the patient can be saved, if it is detected in time.
State Sickle Cell Institute is functioning in Capital city, where there are facilities for tertiary care of patients. Medical officers and lab technicians from across the state are also given training on the Sickle cell.

Sickle Cell is a genetic disease and it is not caused due to blood transfusion or Malnutrition. There are two types of this disease, Sickle Cell disease SS and Sickle Cell carrier AS.
Sickle cell disease SS can cause severe pain and discomfort to the patient and might require frequent blood transfusions. But with proper medication by the doctor, the patient can live longer and can avoid critical problems.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually launched works worth Rs 25.80 crores to increase the number of tigers in the Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. This happened at a meeting here of the Chhattisgarh State Wildlife Board held under the chairmanship of Baghel. The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on the safe habitat of wildlife. He gave instructions to ensure adequate food, water and fodder for wild animals in the forests, an official communication said. Forest and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Akbar, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam and Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma were among those who attended the meeting.

Various proposals related to conservation and promotion of wildlife were approved at the meeting. The discussions covered Guru Ghasidas , Tamor Pingula Sanctuary,

Gomarda Sanctuary, Udanti Sitanadi Tiger Reserve, Tamor Pingla Sanctuary, Indravati Tiger Reserve, Kanker Valley National Park and Bhoramdev Sanctuary.

Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said Chhattisgarh is rich in biodiversity and steps are being taken by the government for its conservation and promotion.

The Minister laid special emphasis on the need to start a public awareness campaign for conservation and promotion of .

During the presentation, Member Secretary, Arun Kumar Pandey, said about 12,000 PBRs (Public Biodiversity Registers) have been set up in the state.

The work of opening a bird interpretation and awareness center in Gidhwa Parsada area, to also function as a bird safari, is also in progress. Nature Trails and Biodiversity Awareness Walks are also being developed in select locations.

The Chief Minister Plantation Incentive Scheme, aimed at promoting agro-forestry in Chhattisgarh, will be implemented from June 1.

Under the scheme, farmers having taken paddy in kharif 2020, if they carry out plantation, then for next three years they will be given an incentive of Rs 10,000 per acre each year.

The village panchayat with its available funds carries out commercial plantation. After one year, if success is achieved in plantation, the State Government will provide Rs 10,000 per acre as incentive to the panchayat.

The plantation of trees can be commercial and non-commercial species. Fruit bearing trees, bamboo and other forest minor produce and medicinal Plants will also be covered. The Forest department will prepare the saplings.

Cgarh gets first prize in safe abortion services

Chhattisgarh received the first prize for innovation in safe abortion Services.

The award was presented at the National Consultation on Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) organized by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi.

The state’s Nodal Officer for Maternal Health, Dr. Shailendra Agarwal, and Advisor Abhilasha Sharma Ratre received the award.

The state has prepared an e-Kalyani application to monitor the availability of safe abortion services in private hospitals and compliance of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Act, 2021 (MTP Act).

State to get its 1st Tech Biz incubator at NIT-Raipur

Chhattisgarhs first Technology Business Incubator will be set up at the National institute of technology, Raipur (NIT-Raipur). This new technology incubation centre aims to develop flair ofinnovation and entrepreneurial shipin theyouth of Chhattisgarhand students of the institute.

The institute has been allotted Rs 7.9 crores by the Centre under the recurring budget to NIT Raipur Foundation for Innovation and for setting up the incubation centre. The Union department of Science and Technology will assist the institute in the establishment of this centre.

The idea to build up an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in NIT Raipur is brainchild of NIT Raipur director Dr A M Rawani. The career development centre is carrying out various activities under the dedicated innovation cell and entrepreneurship cell since last three years under his guidance.

Agri boost: CG set to get its first food irradiation plant

Chhattisgarhis set to get its first food irradiation plant which will help in keeping food grains, vegetables and minor forest produce safe, fresh and quality for a long period of time. Two MoUs were signed to strengthen the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and rural economy in the state.

An MoU has been signed with the Chhattisgarh Bio-Fuel Development Authority for the transfer of Nisarguna a modern technology of power generation from cow dung from Bhabha Atomic Research Center (Barc),Trombay, Mumbai. Plants will be set up in Gauthans to produce electricity and bio-fuel from cow dung and agricultural waste. Women of self-help groups will generate electricity from the cow dung being purchased in the Gauthans of the state.

The second MoU is for the establishment of Food Irradiation Center in Chhattisgarh. The inked MoUs with Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and the Chhattisgarh State Seed AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT Corporation.

As per officials of Chhattisgarh government, irradiation is a technique used in food production, used to kill bacteria that cause food poisoning and helps to preserve food and reduce food waste.
