Andhra Pradesh secures investments worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore in 3 years

Despite being handed a raw deal during bifurcation,Andhra Pradeshhas emerged as a top destination, garnering investments to the tune of Rs 40,361 crore in the first seven months of 2022 alone.

Though it was left without a capital city, after it lost undivided AP’s bustling economic engine and capital Hyderabad to Telangana, and failed to get special category status (SCS), AP has galloped ahead of other states in parameters such as industrialization, economic Growth, and gross value added (GVA).

AP ranked numero uno in terms of actual industrial investment that came into the country in the January-July 2022 period, as per DPIIT’s July 2022 report. AP and Odisha, with investments of Rs 40,361 crore and Rs 36,828 crore, respectively, accounted for 45% of the total 1,71,285 crore investment inflow into the country in the first seven months of 2022, as perDPIITdata. AP also surpassed the national Average on certain parameters and achieved higher growth than some of the developed states.

Tulips growing well in AP’s Chintapalli – first in south India

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden and the Mughal Gardens in Srinagar attract lakhs of tourists every year. The exotic flowers there, one of nature’s bounty, represent the worlds largest cultivation of ornamental Plants.

The Netherlands is the largest producer of Tulip flowers. In India, grown so far in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, such gardens are now coming up in Chintapalli village under the ASR district of Andhra Pradesh. These are cited as the first such large-scale cultivation in south India.

Tulips are excellent for cut flowers, beds and pots. They are grown in the open as well as in protected conditions. These are majorly grown in European countries like the Netherlands and Denmark.

For the first time in south India, the crop was tried in December 2021 by the regional agricultural research station (RARS) Chintapalli, under the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Guntur, but it couldnt get the plants to bear the flowers.

Cases of crimes against women up 25% in Andhra Pradesh in 2021: DGP says awareness has increased

Crimes against Women (CAW) cases has gone up by over 25% inAndhra Pradeshin 2021, while the Average days taken for investigation was considerably down to 42 days from 102 in 2020.
The overall crime rate was up by three per cent, a presentation by the state Police said.

As many as 1,27,127 cognizable crimes took place in the state as against 1,22,987 during 2020, it said.

The cases of crime against women, which constitute 14 per cent in the overall crimes in the state, were at 17,736 in 2021 while it was 14,603 in 2020.

Director general of police Gautam Sawang said the rise in the number of cases in crimes against women should not been seen in a negative sense as the number indicates the access to the police and criminal system and awareness that the government is creating among women.

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy releases Rs 200 crore to ensure farmers welfare

Chief Minister YSJagan Mohan Reddyhas said that the government has transformed farming sector. He said the state could prosper only when the farmer is happy. He said that the government has implemented several welfare schemes for farmers in the last 40 months. JaganMohan Reddydisbursed input subsidy and zero interest amount to farmers on Monday. The has released 200 crore to farmers under the two schemes.
The chief minister has credited 39.39 crore towards input subsidy to the farmers who lost the crops during July-September 2022. Nearly 45,998 farmers have benefited from the scheme.

Similarly, the chief minister released 160.55 crore to 8.22 lakh farmers under zero interest benefit (YSR Sunna Vaddi Panta Runalu). Zero interest scheme is applicable to all those farmers availed crop loans below 1 lakh and repaid the amount within stipulated deadline by banks.

World Bank to provide $250 mn loan for school learning project in Andhra

will provide $250 million loan for a school Education project inAndhra Pradesh, which will cover over 50 lakh students in the southern state.

“The Government of India, Government of Andhra Pradesh and the World Bank on November 18, 2021 signed the legal agreements for $250 million for a project which aims to improve quality of Learning for over 50 lakh students in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The project will cover about 40 lakh students (6-14 year age group) in over 45,000 government schools, and over 10 lakh children (3-6 years) enrolled in Anganwadis (Integrated Child Development Centers), and about 1,90,000 teachers, and more than 50,000 Anganwadi workers.

It will introduce a one-year preschool-level course in 3,500 schools in the tribal blocks. Also, it will help address the issue of low learning levels amongst the tribal community.

The fund will be utilised for Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation Project to encourage professional development of teachers; provide remedial learning courses for children impacted by Covid-19 pandemic.

Though seizure of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) in the state in 2020 saw a 125 per cent decrease compared to that of 2019,Andhra Pradeshstood first in southern India and third in the country, according to the NCRB-2020 data.

A total of 17,705 FICN worth Rs 1,44,50,550 were seized in 2020 as compared to 40,000 notes worth Rs 3,70,85,600 in 2019. Of all the FICN seizures in the country, the highest was recorded in Maharashtra (Rs 83.6 crore), followed by West Bengal (Rs 2.4 crore), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1.44 crore), and Nadu (Rs 1 crore). Investigating agencies believe that the counterfeit notes are being smuggled into India from Bangladesh through West Bengals Malda. The Malda-based syndicates smuggle the FICN through the Indo-Bangladesh border.

AP To Cite Changes In State’s Health, Nutrition Sectors At Niti Aayog Meet

The Andhra Pradesh government would present a report on the changes it has introduced in the healthcare and Nutrition sectors, along with reports on several other important schemes that are being implemented in the state at the governing council meet in New Delhi on May 27.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with top officials on Tuesday and asked them to identify the states subjects to be taken up at the Niti Aayog meeting.

Accordingly, the state will present reports on the family doctor concept, Aarogyasri, the Nadu-Nadu programme in hospitals, healthcare to mothers and children and appointment of more doctors and other healthcare personnel in the government hospitals, the 104 ambulance Services, PHCs and Village Health Clinics.

Andhra Pradesh government spent Rs 85,000 crore on agriculture in last two years

Setting up of over 10,000 Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), a field-level one-stop support centre for farmers, is an initiative of the YSRC government.

The state government has so far disbursed Rs 17,030 crore to about 52.38 lakh farmers under YSR Rythu Bharosa PM Kisan Scheme in the last two years.

The government has made it a regular feature to deposit first installment of Rs 7,500 in May, second installment of Rs 4,000 in October and another spell of Rs 2,000 in January.

The government has already set up 10,778 YSR Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) across the state to provide Services to farmers in their neighbourhood. RBKs will extend support to farmers from seed to crop sale.

Government-certified non-contaminated, quality seeds, quality fertilisers, quality pesticides, e-crop registration, crop Insurance, zero interest loans, crop purchasing center services, Soil testing, agricultural expert advice, agricultural prices monitoring at the village level, market details and weather forecasts are made available in the RBKs.
