Ray Tomlinson is the inventor of email. He developed the first email system in 1971, which allowed users to send messages to each other on a single computer. In 1972, he extended the system to allow users to send messages to each other on different computers. This is considered to be the birth of email.
Mark Zuckerberg is the founder and CEO of Facebook. He did not invent email.
Bill Gates is the co-founder of Microsoft. He did not invent email.
Steve Jobs is the co-founder of Apple. He did not invent email.
Ray Tomlinson was a computer programmer who worked at Bolt, Beranek, and Newman (BBN), a research company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1971, he was tasked with developing a way for users of BBN’s Compatible Time-Sharing System (CTSS) to communicate with each other. He came up with the idea of using the @ symbol to separate the user name from the machine name in an email address. This system was quickly adopted by other computer networks, and email soon became a standard way of communication.
Tomlinson continued to work in the field of computer networking, and he made many other important contributions to the development of the internet. He died in 2016 at the age of 74.
