The World Bank has approved Rs 2,460 crore to improve quality of education and infrastructure in the schools of Chhattisgarh and to encourage science and commerce education at the higher secondary level.

The fund would be utilized to augment facilities in Swami Atmanand English and Hindi medium Schools which have opened in the state to provide quality Education to the students of underprivileged communities, the communiqu said.

In the same bid, the Chhattisgarh Accelerated Learning for a Knowledge economy Operation (CHALK) project has been commenced to improve education across all grades and to address the growing demand for science and commerce studies at the senior secondary level.

Under this project, residential facilities for students and teachers will be provided for the schools situated in remote locations.

The project will help develop and operate about 600 model schools from Class 1 to 12 and encourage science and commerce education at the secondary level.
