Tamil Nadugovernment has allotted 1,500 crore to create sewage treatment plants along the river and also plug the sewage outfalls. Additionally, major beautification work such as a park, open gym, and walking area will also be done.Experts and activists said if the sewage is plugged, residents along the river will be benefitted as it will enable fresh groundwater recharge.
