M-Gram seva pilot project increases accountability and transparency in public finance management: Jimpa

Punjab Government is planning to launch M-Gram seva app across the state for all villages as the impact of the pilot project in Anandpur Sahib has been transformative, improving the lives of citizens and making a positive difference in the community, Water supply and sanitation minister Bram Shanker Jimpa said on Sunday.

M-Gram seva mobile app was launched in December 2021 to digitize revenue and expenditure details at the Gram Panchayat level, empowering frontline leaders and increasing accountability and transparency in the management of funds for water supply-related Services. The pilot project covered 73 Gram Panchayat Water Supply Committee (GPWSCs) schemes and 85 villages in Sri Anandpur Sahib Division. This app is available on Android and iOS platforms, features multiple language , easy digital bookkeeping, online and cash payment options, SMS alerts, and a system for rating the quality of water services.

Jimpa added that the implementation of the M-Gram seva app has led to several improvements in the revenue collection and monitoring system. Before the app’s implementation, only 20 out of 73 GPWSCs were maintaining their records manually, but now all records are maintained digitally on the app. Consumers are now able to make payments online through various options, and all reports, including those on bill generation and payment, are sent via SMS and made available on WhatsApp.

Himachal govt mulls setting up investment and facilitation bureau

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed officials of the department to work on a proposal for setting up a dedicated Investment and facilitation bureau in the State.

Presiding over a review meeting with the department of Industries on Wednesday evening, he saidthis will help in providing all clearance and approvals in time bound manner, thereby enhancing the momentum of investment in the State. This proposal would play a pivotal role in making Himachal Pradesh as the most preferred investment destination for investors.

Sukhu said this bureau will provide one stop solution for the investment in various sectors such as Industries, Tourism, Food Processing, Ayurveda, IT/Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS), Power, Health and Education Institutions. He directed to prepare a document with all the requisite policies and rules for the bureau. Directions were also given to expedite the process of appointing a transaction Advisor for selection of Strategic Investor for the Bulk Drug Park.

NABARD proposes loan scheme of Rs 30,301 crore for Uttarakhand

The state credit seminar for the year 2023-24 was organised by on Tuesday. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the state focus paper wherein he urged all the stakeholders “to work together to make the state the best one by 2025”.

Dhami congratulated NABARD for credit planning for the year 2023-24 and said that for the development of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, Horticulture, small and medium sector industries inUttarakhand, aloan schemeof aboutRs 30,301.42 crore has been prepared this year, which is 6.22% more than last year.

GIS: Govt increases investment target

The Uttar Pradesh government, enthused by the response to the recent roadshows in foreign shores, has increased the target for its Global Investors Summit (GIS) by 70 per cent to Rs 17 lakh crore.

Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath-led government had targeted a net private investment of Rs 10 lakh crore at the GIS to be held from February 10 to 12 in Lucknow this year. The string of roadshows in December across 16 countries fetched the state investment proposals of over Rs 7 lakh crore.

The departments of Information Technology (IT) and Electronics, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), Energy, Housing, and the Greater Noida Authority have been assigned investment targets of Rs 1 lakh crore each. The other departments whose investment targets have been upgraded include Textile, Civil Aviation, Public Works (PWD) and Urban Development, etc.

The UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has also been mandated to attract investment of Rs 1 lakh crore from entrepreneurs looking to set up industrial units in the state. The UPSIDA has already netted investment proposals worth Rs 80,000 crore in the run-up to the big-ticket event, which is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The GIS is billed to play a vital role in propelling UP as a trillion-dollar economy in the next five years, as envisaged by the Yogi government. The State Government is making all efforts to achieve the target, said UPSIDA Chief Executive Officer Mayur Maheshwari, adding that investors had shown interest in the sectors of Food Processing, textile, automobile, private industrial park, Warehousing, paper Industry, medical, biofuel, toys, data centre, IT, electronics etc.

Meanwhile, the UPSIDA has prepared an inventory of about 15,000 acres of industrial land for allotment to industries. Among the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) already signed by the UPSIDA, a private industrial park will come up in Ghaziabad at an investment of Rs 10,000 crore and it would provide jobs to 10,000 people.

Similarly, 1,000 people will get EMPLOYMENT in a Logistics and warehouse park in Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) to be developed by the Mobility Infrastructure Group with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore. The Mega Leather Cluster Development in Kanpur will provide employment to 2,00,000 people with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.

BAU starts spice crops cultivation training to farmers

In a move to provide training about modern agricultural techniques, Scientist and Project Investigator (Spice Crops), Dr Arun Kumar Tiwari visited Silagai village which is birth place of Veer Budhu Bhagat on the instructions of Birsa Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture University (BAU) Vice Chancellor (VC), Dr Onkar Nath Singh. Tiwari informed about the spirit of the Vice Chancellor for the spread of modern agricultural techniques in the village.

The Project Investigator, Spice Crop said that the VC, Dr Singh has directed to conduct research and extension program on modern farming for livelihood security of farmers in village Silagai of Veer Budhu Bhagat. He said that horticulture crops especially coriander, fenugreek, carom seeds, turmeric and ginger have great potential in the village by adopting commercial cultivation of spice crops with scientific management, local farmers can get good profit. Seeing the possibility of farming of rural products and spices, he appealed to the present villagers to cooperate in promoting the cultivation of spices in the village.

The villagers talked about the cooperation of the university in the spread of modern agriculture in the village.

About 950 families reside in this village located in Chanho block of Ranchi and about 52 percent of the Population belongs to the Oraon tribe family. Dr. Tiwari went to the village and met and bowed down to the family members of Veer Budhu Bhagat, a skilled warrior of guerrilla warfare and the hero of total rebellion.

Chhattisgarh’s Central University signs MoU with Bihar’s Nava Nalanda University for academic exchange Guru

Biharregistered 1,800 deaths, the second highest in the country, due to foggy and misty weather conditions in 2021, as per the latest report on ‘Road Accidents in India 2021’ released by the ministry of road transport and highways. Uttar Pradesh was on top with 3,782 fatalities due to similar reasons.

Patna alone recorded 56 deaths due to fog, out of the 210 road fatalities in 2021.
Altogether 7,660 people died across the country in 2021 road accidents, including 1,604 during rain, while 2,085 accidents took place in which 1,562 people were grievously injured and 80 received minor injuries. The maximum deaths were reported on highways, including 3,517 on NHs and 1,747 on state highways. As per the report, 1,100 people died in hit-and-run incidents and 1,398 in head-on collisions between vehicles.

In Bihar, 2,284 persons died due to over-speed, followed by 903 due to driving from wrong side and 92 while using mobile phones while driving vehicles.

Om Sport signs MoU with MP Tourism Board

Madhya Pradesh is becoming a hub for shooting of films and web series. Famous filmmakers and directors of the country are choosing the heartland of the country for shooting after being influenced by the film tourism policy of Madhya Pradesh.

In this series, Om Sport has signed an MoU with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to shoot five films and two web series in the state. The production house will also invest Rs 50 crore in these projects over five years.

The MoU was signed by Vivek Shrotriya, Additional Managing Director of the Board in the presence of Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.

Adani Green now worlds largest wind-solar hybrid power developer

The renewable arm of the Adani Group -Adani GreenEnergy Limited (AGEL) commissioned its third wind-solar hybrid power plant inJaisalmer,Rajasthan.

The new plant comprises 420 MW solar and 105 MW wind Plants. This positionsAGELto have the largest operational hybrid power generation capacity of 1,440 MW. AGEL now has a total operational generation capacity of 7.17 GW, making it the worlds largest wind-solar hybrid power farm developer.

The combined operational generation capacity of the newly commissioned hybrid power plant is 450 MW. The plant has a power purchase agreement with SECI at Rs 2.67/ kWh for a period of 25 years. Earlier this year, AGEL operationalised Indias first hybrid power plant of 390 MW; followed by a 600 MW hybrid power-plant both in Jaisalmer.

E-sports gets recognition from the Indian government as part of multisports events

Esports received a huge boost from the Indian government. It is incorporated into the nations mainstream Sports disciplines. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, amended the regulations governing eSports in accordance with the authority conferred by clause (3) of article 77 of the Constitution and requested that e-Sports be included as part of multi-sports events from the Ministries of Electronics and Information Technology and Sports.

E-sports after being added to the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta as a demonstration sport, which meant that medals earned in the sport were not included in the official total of medals.

There had been an increase in desire for Esports to be included in the curriculum of multi-discipline competitions.

Govt seeks to ban social media sites promotion of online betting

The Government of India is proposing the ban on promotion of Online Betting on the Social Media platforms. The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, have recently been recommended for revision by the Central government to control the Indian online gaming market. The suggestion was made to protect consumers from any harm that skill-based games might cause.

The fact that between 40 and 45 percent of gamers in India are female makes maintaining the security of the gaming even more crucial.
