Arunachal Pradeshchief ministerPema Khandu called upon the people of the state to perform their as enshrined in theConstitution, instead of stressing more on their Fundamental Rights.

Australian Research Council to fund Assam jar study

The Australian Research Council (ARC) will fund the exploration of the enigmatic megalithic jars that linked northeast India with South East Asia thousands of years ago.

Researchers at the Gauhati University (GU), North-Eastern Hill University (Nehu) along with their Australian counterparts are conducting a research study that establishes northeast Indias possible connections with Indonesia, Myanmar and Laos as early as the late second millennium BC.

This interdisciplinary project aims to document and explore the cultural connections between the geographically disparate megalithic cultures of Laos and India and create an enduring digital record of these threatened cultural assets

Mahendragiri gets Biodiversity Heritage Site tag

The has declared the Mahendragiri hill in Gajapati district as a Biodiversity Heritage Site in order to preserve its habitats which are rich in plant and animal lives. ACS Forest, Environment and Climate-change”>Climate Change (FE and CC) Mona Sharma has issued a detailed notification in this regard.

The Government has been pleased to declare an area of 4,250 hectares (ha) of Mahendragiri covering two reserve forests (Idongiri and Mahendra) in the district of Gajapati under forest division of Parlakhemundi as the second Biodiversity Heritage Site of Odisha,

The hill ecosystem acts as a transitional zone between Flora and Fauna of Western Ghats and the Himalayan bio-geographic zones making the region an ecological estuary of genetic diversities. A total of 1,358 species of Plants including 1,042 species of angiosperms under 122 families, 60 species of pteridophytes, 104 species of bryophytes, 53 species of lichens and 72 species of macro-Fungi and two species of gymnosperms occurring in the hill ecosystem.In terms of botanically curious plants, 44 species of orchids, 8 species of insectivorous plants and more than 300 species of medicinal plants are found here.

Leucoderma prevalent in 4% of Indian population: Expert

Leucodermais prevalent in 4% of Indian Population, while in Nadu, around 37 lakh people have leucoderma, district president ofTamil Nadu Science Forum(TNSF), M Rajesh has said.

An awareness campaign on breaking the stigma surrounding leucoderma or vitiligo was held.

The programme was held at the Government Higher Secondary School,Thirupparankundramand CEOA Higher Secondary School, jointly organized by theTamil NaduScience Forum (TNSF), Exnora International, and Leucoderma Awareness Movement – India.

Kerala gets largest share of revenue deficit grant

As per the statement by finance ministerKN Balagopalbefore the assembly, the state has been granted Rs 53,137 crore as grant on the recommendations of the commission, which is the highest when compared to other 16 states which have got the grant.

The state’s main committed expenditure include salaries, pensions and interest payments on loans and the revision of the salaries and pensions on the basis of the recommendations of the 11th pay commission alone has caused an additional burden of Rs 15,000 crore annually to the state. At the same time, to bridge the gap of revenue deficit, state’s revenue generation has to improve correspondingly, that also has not been happening.

Karnataka raises wages of convicts in jails by up to 200%

In a step towards ushering reforms in prison administration, the government has hiked salaries of convicts in prisons across the state. The salary hikes range between 165% and 200%.

Seeking to reform prison administration, the government had set up theKarnatakaPrisons Development Board a few months ago. After the first-ever meeting of the six-member board in July, Home minister Araga Jnanendra submitted a proposal to the finance department, seeking a hike in salaries of convicted inmates.

The idea was to bring salaries on par with minimum wage rules issued by the government. The proposal required an additional outlay of Rs 7 crore.

Drone technology centre at Andhra University

Prof Prasad Reddy said the ICDT will serve as a practical training and research centre at the university level, which will help produce professionals and help the aspirants explore drone-related opportunities through integration with design bureaus, and market.

PM Modi to open Goa’s 2nd airport on December 11: Sawant

The Mopa International airport, Goa’s second airport afterDabolim, will be inaugurated by Prime MinisterNarendra Moditentatively on December 11, Goa chief ministerPramod Sawantannounced.

Speaking about revolutionising tourism in India, Sawant said the sector can grow through an integrated and focused approach to developing , ensuring safety and security of tourists, and by upskilling and reskilling human Resources. In this context, he said, apart from building airport, roads and bridges, and floating jetties, the Goa government is also working on a plan to onboard taxi vendors on a single mobile app-based platform within the next year, roll out a ‘Har Ghar Fibre’ scheme to pitch the coastal state as a ‘Work-from-Goa’ hub for tourists across the world, and to ensure that the prevailing connectivity and Network issues are settled for good.

Merely 9.5% in 18-19 age group are registered voters in Maharashtra

Less than 10% of the youth in the 18 to 19 age bracket are registered as voters in the state, revealed a recent report presented to the government by the chief electoral officer ofMaharashtra.

The Percentage of voters in this age group from Mumbai city and its suburbs figure at the bottom of all the 36 districts; urban areas also generally record lower voter turnout in polls. Regions such as Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded fare better than the rest.

Data from the Maharashtra chief electoral office shows that only around 5-16% of youth from each of the 36 districts in the 18-19 age group are on electoral rolls. This age group comprises around 0.34% of the total registered voters in the state. When compared with other age groups, including 20-29, 30-39 and 40-49, for instance, where the percentage of registered voters is 68.8%, 92.7%, 111.4%, respectively, the young group only makes up for about 9.5% of its projected Population of 46 lakh.

Haryana CM launches mobile health screening initiative ‘Wellness on Wheels’

A mobile screening bus Wellness on Wheels was launched by DLF Foundation and Fortis Memorial Research Institute Gurugram to offer free Health screening Services to the underprivileged communities as part of a joint CSR programme.
The bus with health screening facilities was flagged of by chief ministerManohar Lal Khattar.

The screening services will include tests such as blood analysis, urine analysis, HBA1C testing, along with doctor consultation, which can be taken up by any age group. Post the diagnostic reports, if anyone needs further evaluation/treatment, Fortis Hospital Gurugram will help such patients to get the best treatment.

The CM while flagging off the mobile screening acknowledged and appreciated the CSR initiative of DLF Foundation and Fortis Healthcare.
