Haryana government to release funds to counter Covid spread in villages: Deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala

Haryanagovernment will soon releasefundsup to Rs 50,000 for allgram panchayatsof the state. Isolation wards will be set up invillagesthrough these funds and other necessary items associated withCovid treatment, such as oximeters, steam machines, thermometers and blood pressure monitoring machines will be arranged.

Haryana deputy chief ministerDushyant Chautalashared this information on Monday after presiding over a meeting with officers of the panchayat department. Expressing concern overCovidspread in villages, Chautala said 8,000 teams are being formed by the to increase Covid testing in rural areas. According to him, it is mandatory to set up Covid treatment facilities in villages to curb Covid infection in rural areas, for which the state government would provide funds to panchayats immediately.

Dushyant said the government would allocate funds of Rs 30,000 to all villages having Population of less than 10,000 and Rs 50,000 for those with more than 10,000 population. He said Covid isolation centres would be built in chaupals, government schools and Anganwadi centres of villages.

Enrolment in Punjab government schools up by 1.5 lakh

The outbreak of Covid-19 since last year has helped thePunjabgovernment achieve an unusual trend of peoples rushing to itsschoolsfor the admission of their children.
Enrolmentin the government-run schools has increased by 1.51 lakh in the ongoing academic session 2021-22 compared with the previous year. Of these 1.51 lakh students, 87% shifted from the private schools.

The highest enrolment has been in the higher secondary classes. The number of new admissions went up from 3,75,457 on March 31, 2021, to 4,02,411 on April 30. Similarly, the number of students who took admission increased from 6,15,042 to 6,55,937 in the upper primary classes. At the primary level, 10,04,400 enrolments were recorded against 9,48,785 in the previous academic session.

Thegovernmentschools in Ludhiana recorded the highest increase in enrolment in classes from LKG to XII of 3,00,990, 8.83% more than the previous session, while in Mohali, the number of students went up from 1,06,465 in 2020-21 to 1,15,100, recording a jump of 8.11%. The number of students went up from 59,025 to 63,421 in the current session in Fatehgarh Sahib.

Himcare, Ayushman beneficiaries to get free treatment: CM Himachal

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that in the wake of increase in the number of Covid patients, the has decided to provide free treatment to the beneficiaries of Himcare and Ayushman Bharat Scheme in registered private hospitals designated as Covid hospitals.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting with the senior officers and members of Covid Management Committees. He said that as many as 4.16 lakh families had been registered under Ayushman Bharat and 5.13 lakh families under State sponsored Himcare scheme. He said that all these families would now be eligible for the free treatment of Covid-19.

Uttarakhand among top 10 states in Covid deaths

With 1,390 Covid deaths reported in just one and half weeks of May,Uttarakhandis now at the 9th spot across the country in the number of deaths per lakh Population and tops the list ofHimalayan statesin terms of fatalaties, as per Doon-based Social Development for Communities Foundation (SDCF), an organisation closely tracking theCovid-19pandemic in the Himalayan state.

As per the data collected from the official website of ministry of Health and family welfare, the state has reported 37 deaths in per lakh population while Delhi topped the list with 116 deaths in per lakh population followed by Goa with 112 and with 96.
According to the data collected by SDCF,Himachal Pradeshand Sikkim witnessed 28 deaths per lakh population each since the pandemic hit the country in February 2020.

Uttam’ education is new mantra for Yogi govt

Uttam’ Education in ‘new’ Uttar Pradesh is the new mantra of the Yogi Adityanath government in the state.

The UP government is elated over the fact that in the last four years, about 4.80 crore new students have enrolled in the government schools of the state.

Through ‘Operation Kayakalp’, basic facilities were provided in nearly 1.35 lakh schools of the state. Children were given free books, school bags, two pairs of uniforms, sweaters and shoes-stockings. Apart from this, separate toilets have been constructed for boys and girls,” the spokesman said.

Besides, during the four-year tenure of Yogi Government, 193 new Inter-colleges have become operational and 56 new inter colleges were sanctioned.

In an important step, the UP government has taken the initiative of Abhyuday coaching for the students going out of the state for the preparation of competitive examinations.

Uttar Pradesh is also the only state in the country to offer free Abhyuday coaching to students. The dream of the students to become engineers, doctors and administrative officers will be fulfilled by this initiative of the Yogi government.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the 1st party to declare the name of the entity which made donations to it thru electoral bonds.Highlights:

Control room set up to advise MLAs on Covid

In view of the raging coronavirus pandemic in the state, a control room has been set up in the legislative assembly to extend treatment and advisory facilities to present and former MLAs, as well as active and retired employees and officials of the assembly secretariat at the district level.

It has been established on the directive of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during his digital interaction with the Speakers of all the assemblies held on April 19, Sinha said.

The control room will coordinate with the DMs concerned, their respective control rooms and the Health department to ensure that treatment facilities are provided to the present and former MLAs, assembly secretariat officials and employees, as well as their relatives, against the Covid-19 infection.

State to get its 1st Tech Biz incubator at NIT-Raipur

Chhattisgarhs first Technology Business Incubator will be set up at the National institute of technology, Raipur (NIT-Raipur). This new technology incubation centre aims to develop flair ofinnovation and entrepreneurial shipin theyouth of Chhattisgarhand students of the institute.

The institute has been allotted Rs 7.9 crores by the Centre under the recurring budget to NIT Raipur Foundation for Innovation and for setting up the incubation centre. The Union department of Science and Technology will assist the institute in the establishment of this centre.

The idea to build up an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in NIT Raipur is brainchild of NIT Raipur director Dr A M Rawani. The career development centre is carrying out various activities under the dedicated innovation cell and entrepreneurship cell since last three years under his guidance.

Madhya Pradesh second state to produce sex sorted semen for cattle

Madhya Pradeshhas developed a facility to pre-determine sex of a calf becoming only the second state in the country to have the sex-sorted-semen technique. The only other state with this technology is Uttarakhand. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the state-ofthe-art sex-sorted-semen production laboratory, to be set up at a cost of Rs 47.50 crore under the National Gokul Mission.

Officials said, in the sex sorting technique X and Y chromosome is sorted out and separated. The sorted semen can be stored in the liquid nitrogen for years. Depending upon the demand, frozen semen straw of the desired sex can be inseminated in the cow.

Cost of a semen straw in the international market is roughly13 US dollars, but the State Government would subsidise the cost so that farmers could get it at an affordable price and get the calf of desired sex.

This second major laboratory of the country has been set up at the central institute of semen, Bhadbhada. The cost of the project includes 60% of the centre share and 40% of the state share. Officials said 90% of high breed female calves will be produced from semen doses to be made available tocattlerearers of the state from here. In the near future, 90% female calves of high genetic quality such as Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar cows and Murrah buffaloes will be born in the state in the sex-sorted-semen facility project at central semen institute, Bhopal.

Gujarat: Daily biomedical waste jumps 10-fold in a year

The waste primarily consisted ofPPE kitsused by doctors at hospitals and by paramedics involved in testing and sampling of cluttered localities.

Ahmedabad today accounts for, on Average, more than 65% of the total Covid waste generated in the state, according to GPCB officials.

Apart from contaminated PPE waste, , waste sharps, metals and other solid waste are also destroyed at the 20-odd facilities in the state.
