Child marriage to be completely eradicated from Assam by 2026: Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while speaking at the ongoing State Assembly, said that child marriage will be eradicated from Assam completely by the year 2026. The minister further informed that a new Act against Child Marriage will be brought and a notification has been issued to empanel all gram panchayat secretaries in Assam as the child marriage prevention officers who will ensure the of child marriages, the protection of the victims as well as prosecution of the offenders by lodging First Information Reports.

Assam government launched the Mission for Prevention of Child Marriage in the state with a budget allocation of Rs 200 crore. The decision of the Assam government comes in the wake of thousands of arrests over child marriages in the state.

Odisha govt plans to use technology in patrolling for better monitoring

The may use technology in Police patrolling with the possible introduction of geo-fencing and QR coding systems for better monitoring in urban as well as rural areas, minister of state for Home Tusharkanti Behera has informed the assembly.

According to the state police headquarters, onlyGPStechnology is currently being used to track police control room (PCR) vans, including those attached with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) or dial 112. All thePCRvans in the state have been attached with GPS devices to provide their live location.

GPS devices also keep a track on PCR vans and help the control room know if any vehicle is found parked or stationary without going for patrolling.

Tamil Nadu govt allocates Rs 1,000 crore to promote agro-industrial corridor

The Nadu government announced a 1,000 crore plan to promote agri-related Infrastructure in the Cauvery basin region from Trichy to Nagapattinam. The region was declared an agro-industrial corridor last year.
A detailed project report has been prepared to set up the corridor to increase farmers income and create job opportunities. Presenting the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture budget, agriculture and farmers welfare minister M R K Panneerselvam said, Enhanced incentive packages, market linkages, expert guidance and single window facili-ties will be provided to aspiring entrepreneurs to start agrobased Food Processing industries.
To facilitate efficient ways of storage, processing and Marketing, new industrial estates will be developed with commonfacilities. With value addition, local people will have opportunities in both agriculture and allied sectors and it could encourage exports, he said.

Kalaignarin Village Integrated Agricultural Development Programme will be implemented in 2,504 village panchayats next fiscal at Rs 230 crore to achieve overall development of hamlets. The water-starved state will promote Irrigation“>Micro Irrigation extensively and will spend Rs 744 crore for effective utilisation of water.

Urban planning back on the table to tailor development

Budget proposal for a new urban policy has shed Light on an often-ignored aspect; scientific urban planning. The department of town and country planning had formulated an urban policy and action plan for Kerala in 2002.
It included a set of recommendations which included constitution of an urban regulatory authority to maintain quality of Services at reasonable cost. Thiruvananthapuram andKochiwere considered as spatial priority regions and Kozhikode was tagged as the next priority.

As per the proposal, a scheme will be formulated to upgrade the standards of all six corporations in Kerala. Conservation of heritage areas and surroundings, improvement of pedestrian , equipping public places and recreational areas, improvement of hygiene, etc.. are the components of this project.

Karnataka to launch training programmes for 2 lakh teachers

In what could be one of the biggest teacher training programmes by the Education department, SamagraShikshana Karnataka(SSK) is set to roll outKarmayogi Shikshakprogramme “with an aim to reawaken the pride of teachers”.

The programme is likely to cover around 2 lakh teachers from primary to high schools as per theNational Education Policy.

The department has called a tender for organisations that have been involved in teacher training for over eight years to develop a module for these teachers. The plan is to build a five-day module for master trainers and a two-day one for teachers. The department will use the module in future as well.

No audit of CDP in Telangana since state formation, says FGG

AP gets three new polytechnic colleges in Rayalaseema

The Andhra Pradesh government has given administrative approval for the establishment of three government polytechnic colleges in the districts of Nandyal, Anantapur, and Kadapa.

The issued a gazette notification here on Monday on establishing the three polytechnic colleges with courses like mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and Communication engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, and metallurgical engineering.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had sanctioned three polytechnic colleges at a cost of Rs 100 crore for the benefit of students, especially those from rural areas, to study, undergo training, and find EMPLOYMENT. He thanked the CM for allocating three new colleges to the Rayalaseema region.

Goa’s sacred trees are steeped in tradition, says governor

Expressing his love for sacred trees in the state, Goa governorPS Shreedharan Pillaisaid that he is keen on Learning about the rich eco-cultural traditions of such trees. He recently visited the Holy Spirit Church, Margao and was informed of the HISTORY of Maddi (Sterculia Foetida) also known as Nagin tree.

Pillaioffered prayers at the giant Baobab tree which is believed to be one of the oldest in the state. The governor also visited Shree Muddeshwar Sateri Devasthan, Kusmane at Quepem and offered prayers at the old heritagePeepaltree. Pillai said, One Earth, one family and one future will pave the path for global welfare.

Survey finds 300 CBSE schools without NOC in Maharashtra

At least 300CBSE schoolsin the state do not have documents or do not possess the no-objection certificate which is mandatory for operating inMaharashtra. The state Education department had ordered a survey of all CBSE schools after five institutions in Mumbai and Pune were found to have fake no-objection certificates.

There are 1,723 non-state board schools in the state and the survey report said that some schools had avoided showing their documents to officials on inspection.

The forged no-objection certificates in favour of trusts running three schools first came to the notice of a deputy secretary in the education department’s office in Mantralaya in Mumbai last July.

He had received files along with documents of these schools and noticed that the certificates had his signatures when he had never signed them or issued them.

Gurugram first to form district task force for cow protection

In a bid to curb rampant cow vigilantism, the Gurugram administration has become first district to form a special cow protection task force.

The move comes in the wake of the recent brutal murders of two residents of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Nasir and Junaid, for their alleged involvement in cow smuggling. A group of cow vigilantes had allegedly abducted the duo. Their bodies were found burnt in a vehicle in Bhiwani.

As per the norms, the task force at the state level will have six members, while those at the district level will have 11 members. Chairing the meeting of the task force, DC Nishant Kumar Yadav announced that a complete ban would be enforced on unauthorised actions such as raids on and confinement of persons involved in cow smuggling. People will have to inform the Police in case of any illegal activity concerning cow progeny. No one can chase, bully, thrash or confine anybody in the name of cow protection, Yadav said.

The task force will prevent illegal transportation and slaughtering of cow progeny, but also collect information about such activities, take legal action, rescue and rehabilitate stray cattle, and also provide assistance for arranging the land for cow shelters.
