The Arunachal Pradesh Government is to establish Arunachal Pradesh Infrastructure Financing Authority. The decision was taken by the cabinet during the golden Jubilee celebrations.

The state of Arunachal Pradesh was created in 1972. And in 2022, it has been 50 years. Thus, the state is celebrating its 50thanniversary. On the first day of the month long celebrations, the cabinet made several decisions.

To confer Arunachal Ratna award to Late K A A Raja. The award is one of the highest state Awards of Arunachal Pradesh. He was a former governor.

Financial assistance to 500 . They are to be provided with one lakh rupees each.

Three hundred primary level federations will receive two lakh rupees each

Selecting fifty schools to develop as the Golden Jubilee Model Schools. Rs 12 crores of financial assistance per school has been estimated for this project. In all the model school project will receive 500 crores of rupees.

365 Infrastructure projects are to be inaugurated and completed between 2022 and 2023.

Golden Jubilee Merit Award for students competing in class 12 and entering premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, Aiims, etc.

Additional 5000 rupees over the existing 20,000 rupees for the Dulhari Kanya Scheme.

Assam Baibhav award for Ratan Tata

TheAssamgovernment is set to conferAssam Baibhav, the states highest civilian award to industrialist and philanthropist Ratan NavalTata, though he will not be present in the glittering ceremony to be held in Guwahati.

Though Ratan Tata wont be present at the event, he is deeply touched by the state governments decision. WFP, Odisha to partner for resilient food security

The United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP) on Saturday hoisted a multi-stakeholder interactive and consultation session on in Odisha on digital mode in which over 80 policymakers, Government actors, NGO partners, academicians and corporate houses deliberated together.

The objective was to feedback inputs from different sectors to make the WFP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 for Odisha more inclusive and effective.

Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra said, Government of Odisha is fully committed for reducing POVERTY and Malnutrition. There has been a significant reduction in rural poverty; and food security has improved to a great extent. The PARTNERSHIP between WFP and Odisha has been very effective since last two decades; and six more partnership agreements in new areas have been initiated in the last year alone.

He asked WFP to undertake more technological application for enhancing outreach of the food security net and improving access to food security, more particularly the for poor and vulnerable sections. He emphasised on aligning the strategic plan towards SDG targets and making it more outcome-oriented.

An audit of people who died due toCovid 19showed that nearly seven out of 10 people had not taken the vaccine.

Though the state has vaccinated nearly 90% of its Population above the age of 18 with one dose and 67% with two, a large number of the vulnerable population remain without vaccine protection. Of the 10.4 crore people above 60 years, nearly 37 lakh havent taken even one dose of the vaccine.

Kerala govt opposes amendments to deputation rules

The has opposed the amendments proposed by the Centre in the deputation rule forAll-Indiaservice (AIS) officers, citing that the amendments are in favour of the Centre alone and will result in inducing fear psychosis and an Attitude of hesitancy among the officers.
In his letter to Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, chief ministerPinarayi Vijayansaid thatdeputation rulesin its present form itself are heavily loaded in favour of the Union and bringing further stringency will weaken the very root of Federalism“>Cooperative Federalism.

The chief minister further said that the proposed amendments will definitely induce fear psychosis and an attitude of hesitancy among AIS officers to implement policies of a state government, which are formed by parties politically opposed by the ruling party at the Centre.

At present, the officers need to receive a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the state government for their central deputation. As per the new amendment, if the states fail to give theNoCwithin a specified time, the officer shall be deemed to have been relieved from the date specified by the Centre. As per the existing rules, the states have to depute AIS officers to the Centre and at any point of time, the deputation strength cannot be more than 40% of the total strength.

The proposed amendments say that the Centre will decide the actual number of officers to be deputed to it. The proposed amendments also say that in case of any disagreement between the Centre and the state, the Centre will decide and the states should give effect to the decision within a specific time.

Karnataka mulls Mangaluru-Goa inter-state waterway

With all 11 Inland National Waterways (NWs) identified by Indias Inland Waterways Authority (IWA) not taking off, the Karnataka Government has embarked on an development of an ambitious inter-state waterway betweenMangaluruand Panaji (Goa) to promote tourism and for affordable passenger and freight transportation.

Though techno-economic feasibility studies have been initiated for the 11 NWs in Karnataka, the has initiated Preparation of Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) for the development of inter-state waterway between Mangaluru and Panaji.

There are seven critical river systems in Karnataka with a lot of tributaries, but not much progress has been seen in development of the inland waterways for transport, tourism or cargo movement.

Last year, the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) had appealed to the Director of Ports to initiate measures for the development of the inland waterway from Bantwal to Markada Bridge in Dakshina Kannada – National Waterway 74 and National Waterway 43 as identified by IWA.
