Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister JP Dalal said that a target has been set to transform one lakh acres of barren land of farmers into cultivable land during this year.

Dalal was presiding over a meeting with senior officers of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department here.

He said the Government will assist the farmers to identify the barren land for which the action plan is being prepared.

While directing the officers of the Department, the Agriculture Minister said that Moong seeds should be made available at the earliest to the farmers at the block and village level in the state, especially to the farmers of south Haryana, so that they can plough their crops in time.

He said good quality seeds of Millet, Moong and Urad should be made available at low prices to the farmers, for which a long term plan should be prepared in collaboration with Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.

It was informed in the meeting that in the crushing season 2020-21, 429.17 lakh quintals of sugarcane was crushed while 371.86 lakh quintals of sugarcane was crushed in the crushing season 2019-20. Similarly, 41.97 lakh quintals of sugar was produced in crushing season 2020-21 while 37.41 lakh quintals of sugar was produced in crushing season 2019-20.

Area under cotton up by 52,000 hectares

Farmers in the state have gone in for cultivation on a much bigger scale this year. The area under cultivation of the white gold has gone up by 52,000 hectares this year.

Data available from the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Department shows that against 2.51 lakh hectare area under cotton last year, the crop had been sown on 3.03 lakh hectares. An assured market at the minimum support price MSP announced by the government has led to the new confidence among farmers in the cotton crop.

Last year, almost 80 per cent of the cotton crop was procured by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) at the MSP of Rs 5,825 a quintal. The remaining was bought by private traders at rates varying between Rs 5,900- Rs 6,000 a quintal.

Every house of Himachal Pradesh to get tap water supply: Minister

Every household in the state would get clean tap water under Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal scheme within one-and-a-half year, said Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh. During his visit to lay the foundation stones of various schemes worth Rs 12.28 crore in Nirmand region of the district today, he said the government, under the Leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, would accomplish the goal under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The minister said Rs 1,000 crore from the Asian and Rs 800 crore from the BRICS Development Bank, had been approved for drinking water and Irrigation schemes. He said there were sufficient funds for providing clean drinking water to the people of the state.

The minister said the state secured the first position under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the second consecutive year. He said Rs 1,405 crore had been sanctioned this year under the scheme. He praised Anni MLA Kishori Lal Sagar and urged him to work on the sewerage system in Brow on priority.

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has sought approval for proposals worth Rs 615.48 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and declaration of six state highways along with the Rishikesh-Bhaniyawala highways as national highways. Rawat presented these demands while meeting the Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari in the national Capital.

He further said that the state highway 24 is used for travelling between Rishikesh and Dehradun. Being a double-lane road, it is inadequate for high traffic density. Widening this road will enable convenient access to all Char Dhams from the Dehradun airport.

However, since it is not notified as a national highway, it is being excluded from schemes of the Road Transport and Highways ministry.

UNICEF Jharkhand chief Prashant Dash and other office bearers met Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday at CMs residential office and handed over many important medical equipment to the CM to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, the CM said that continuous efforts are being made by the for prevention and better treatment of infected patients. The state government has started its preparations in view of the possible third wave of corona infection. Better medical management for infection control is the priority of the Government, he said.

UNICEF Jharkhand Chief Prashant Das said that Jharkhand UNICEF is providing Oxygen concentrators to the State government to control the situation that has arisen in the State due to Covid-19. He said that cold chain equipment, RTPCR machines and masks are also being provided to the State government by UNICEF for better management and to reduce the spread of corona infection in the State. UNICEF will continue to work step by step with the State Government for epidemic control.

Minister for setting up bamboo industries in Bihar

The minister further claimed that the production and Marketing of wild honey being done by the forest department had garnered a positive response from the people. There is also a proposal for using some wild Plants with medicinal properties in the production of drugs and pickles, he added.

As the second wave of Covid-19 abates, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has unveiled development works worth more than Rs 5,220 crore for different districts through nine virtual programmes.

Development works worth about Rs 225 crores were unveiled for Kabeerdham district on June 10, and worth Rs 358 crores for Gariaband district and Rs 556 crores for Rajnandgaon district on June 11.

Projects worth Rs 271.51 crore were presented to Dhamtari district and worth Rs 276.12 crores to Mungeli district on June 12.

This was followed by Rs 172.65 crores worth of projects for Bemetara district, worth Rs 120.09 crores for Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district and worth Rs 561.32 crores for Raipur district on June 13, worth Rs 308.31 crores for Raigarh district on June 14, worth Rs 283.70 crores for Jashpur district, worth Rs 247.91 crores for Sarguja district and worth Rs 76.52 crore for Balrampur-Ramanujganj district on June 15.

Bhopal among top 10 most livable state capitals

The City of Lakes ranks seventh among the most liveable state capitals in CSEs latest report, State of Indias Environment 2021. The fingings are not too far off from last years Union governments ease of living ranking.

The CSE survey reiterates two main things citizen perception of the city is very high, but economic ability or availability is a downer.

In the Union Government 2020 ranking, Bhopal was placed 19th, with an overall ease of living score of 56.26. The aggregate score in latest report for Bhopal is the same. Both calculated the score on five benchmarks: ease of living, Quality Of Life, economic availability, sustainability and citizen perception survey.

Economic availability for both surveys have a near identical score of 14 for theMadhya Pradeshcapital. Bengaluru and Delhi are way ahead on the benchmark with 78 and 50 (out of 100). Bengaluru was also the most livable city in Union government findings.

17 geothermal energy sites in Gujarat can be exploited with good returns on investment

The 17 potential sites explored in Gujarat by the researchers areDholera,Unai, Gandhar, Chabsar, Ghogha, Harsani, Kawi, Khedpada, Khar, Maktapur, Warha, Mithapur, Tuwa, Tulsishyam, Savarkundla, Lasundra and Lalpur.

The sites were chosen based on geophysical surveys of gravity, Magnetism, seismic activity and magneto-telluric surveys. In the majority of the cases, hot water springs are surface manifestation of .

The atlas was created by theCentre of Excellencefor Geothermal Energy (CEGE) at PDEU, and is in the final stage before it is submitted to the State Government for further exploration.

CEGE is already working at Dholera and Unai. At Unai, the team has found the hottest well in Gujarat with a surface temperature of 70 degrees celsius. The Centre of Excellence is also working on projects to showcase the capacity of geothermal energy for food drying and balneology (the medicinal effects of hot water springs).

Rajasthan: Busy jewellery exports zone seeks vaccination

With markets in the US and Europe having opened for business, gem and jewellery exports are in a better shape.

Capacity utilisation at manufacturing units in the Sitapura Exports Promotion Industrial Park and the special economic zone are now closer to pre-Covid levels. But the is worried that if the 25,000 workers in the 200 odd units are not vaccinated, uninterrupted production could take a hit.

Even as the domestic demand is yet to pick up significantly due to lockdowns in various states, the exports are growing. The government had allowed the units to operate even during the lockdown given the nature of their business where failure to export on time could result in the units paying a heavy price.
