Centre, Manipur govt sign agreement with Zeliangrong United Front

Centre and theManipurgovernment entered into a Cessation of Operation Agreement here in the national capital with theZeliangrong United Front(ZUF) that had been active for more than a decade.

The agreement seeks rehabilitation and re-settlement of the armed cadres, said theMinistry of Home Affairs(MHA) after the agreement was signed in the Ministry’s North Block office.

The agreement was signed by senior officers of theUnion Ministry of Home Affairsand the Government of Manipur and the representatives of ZUF in the presence of Manipur Chief MinisterN BirenSingh.

According to MHA, the move is part of fulfilling the vision of Prime MinisterNarendra Modiof an ‘Insurgency free and prosperous North East’ under the guidance of Union Minister forHome Affairsand Amit Shah.

Deloitte opens countrys fourth technology centre in Bhubaneswar

Leading global professional Services firm Deloitte set its foot in Odisha by opening its capability enhancement centre (CEC) at BMC-ICOMC tower here on Friday. The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is spread over 55,000 sq feet. The chief minister reiterated the governments commitment to facilitate Deloittes expansion in Odisha. The centre will provide further provide impetus to the states economy and create significant high-end EMPLOYMENT opportunities for the youth, he said.

Bhubaneswar became the fourth Indian city after Thane-Mumbai, Gurugram, and Coimbatore to have Deloittes CEC, the companys flagship office which delivers outstanding value through the adoption of best practices, usage of latest technologies, and deployment of a diverse and skilled workforce. The CEC in the state capital will expand to 1,500 professionals over 18 months and focus on areas like analytics, , digitalisation, machine Learning, cloud, and cyber security.

Tamil Nadu cabinet clears Rs 15,610 crore worth investment proposals

The Nadu cabinet on Wednesday approved eight new industrial Investment proposals worth 15,610 crore. To be spread across districts, these projects are expected to generate 8,776 jobs, industries minister Thangam Thennarasu said.

The investment proposals are for multiple sectors including electric vehicles, wireless technology, textiles and Oxygen manufacturing. These projects would come up in Krishnagiri, Theni, Pudukkottai and in districts around Chennai. Refusing to name the companies whose investment proposals were cleared on Wednesday, citing “commercial-sensitive reasons”, Thangam Thennarasu said the names will be revealed when they sign memoranda of understanding with the government.

Cabinet approval has been given for a few projects in the industrial complexes in Sriperumbudur, Pillaipakkam and Oragadam near Parandur, the site chosen for the new greenfield airport.

KSUM to form Kerala Design Committee

In a major move that may revolutionize designs of public projects in the state, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will form the Kerala Design Committee, which will consist of creative design experts from across the globe.

The committee will draft a design policy for the State Government with the support of leading creative artists.

KSUM has already initiated steps to set up community skill centres as part of its policy to start innovation centres in each constituency of the state.

Karnataka education department focuses on school dropouts

The Education department has intensified its survey of out-of-school children and those hwo were never enrolled across the state.

The department has found that 64,003 children were out of school for the 202223 academic year.

All steps will be taken regarding activities to be carried out in the district, taluk cluster, school, and residential areas for children to get enrolled.

When a survey was conducted in the Nelamangala taluk of Bengaluru rural district, officials found a huge discrepancy between the number and details of children in the records with schools and the information on the departmental website SATS.

According to the SATS statistics, more children were found to be out of school.

Amrutvel wins Sahitya Akademi Award 2022 in Goa

Maya Kharangates 2016 novel Amrutvel has won the Award in KonkaniSahitya Akademi announced its Awards for literary works in 23 languages.

Kharangates Amrutvel sheds Light on the struggles of a widow in the pre-Liberation era in Goa. It is more about the sufferings of Women in a Hindu joint family. It is the struggle of the character, Sitabai, and how she raises her children after her husbands death, she said.

Besides highlighting the plight of widowed women, the novel also tells the story of other women of the family who participate in the freedom struggle.

The awards were also given to five other novels, seven poetry books, two short stories, three plays, two essays of literary criticism, a collection of articles, a literary HISTORY and an autobiographical essay. The award for literary work in Bengali will be announced on a later date.

AP wins Centres nod for Srisailam ropeway

The Centre has given green signal for Srisailam-Egalapenta () ropeway project proposed by the State Government. The project will be taken up with a cost of Rs.400 crore.

Union Roadways and Surface Transport Ministry cleared the proposal on Thursday. The Centre has cleared 26 ropeway projects to be taken up in different states along with Srisailam ropeway project.

The state government picked up the location as ideal as Srisailam town is famous for its Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna temple and is one of the holy pilgrimage sites for Saivism and Shaktism sects of Hinduism. It is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the state. Average pilgrims visiting the temples is around 18,000 to 26,000 per day and it would be around 50,000 to 55,000 people per day during peak season.

Th state had proposed a project to connect with Telangana. The proposed project site is well connected by road. The state government proposed to take up the construction of buildings at two ends, namely, Lower Terminal Point and Upper Terminal Point of Ropeway Systems for boarding and de-boarding of passengers.

Goa, Maharashtra begin first-ever holistic study of Konkan region rock art

For the first time ever a detailed study of the petroglyphs and geoglyphs in Goa and the Konkan belt is being carried out by archaeologists of Goa and Maharashtra. The area has probably one of the largest concentrations of rock art with nearly 100 sites that have survived thousands of years, said assistant superintendent archaeologist, directorate of archaeology,Varad Sabnis.
These rock carvings, which are petroglyphs or geoglyphs on horizontal laterite surfaces, depict the life of the early prehistoric farming community. The extensive survey will see experts also explore if there are more carvings outside known areas.

There are four known rock carving sites in Goa of which two sites Pansaimol andKazurinSanguem have been notified as protected sites. The sites at Baoliachem Mudd at Quepem andMauzat Sattari are yet to be notified. To preserve this prehistoric treasure trove the directorate of archaeology and museums, Maharashtra, and the directorate of archaeology, Goa have proposed that the sites be notified as .

Maharashtra ready to enact law against ‘love jihad’: Devendra Fadnavis

Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said in the House that Maharashtra is seeking the Centre’s permission to implement the Shakti bill that amends laws for offences committed against Women and children with more stringent penal actions.

Reiterating that Maharashtra is studying the ‘love jihad’ laws of other states, he said: “In fact, the term love jihad has been coined by the Communist-ruled Kerala and it is a fact that such cases are happening all across the country. Other states have made stringent laws to curb such cases and hence Maharashtra is also ready to enact the law on similar lines to ensure long-term protection to women.”

Hry Govt notifies merger of departments

To improve the administrative efficiency, Haryana Government on Monday notified the merger and reorganization of some departments.

The Department of Archeology and Museums has been merged with the Department of Tourism and the name of the department has been changed to Heritage and Tourism Department. The Departments of Higher Education, Technical Education and the Department of Science and Technology have been merged and the new department has been named Higher Education Department.

Similarly, the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs has been merged with the Department of Information, Public Relations, and Languages and its name has been changed to Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department. The name of the Labour and EMPLOYMENT Department has now been changed to Labour Department.
