Haryana decides to ban use of word Gorakh Dhanda’

Haryana Government on Wednesday decided to ban the use of the term Gorakh Dhanda generally used to describe unethical practices.

A decision to this regard was taken by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar after a delegation of the community met him here. The Gorakhnath community urged him to ban the use of the term Gorakh Dhanda and said that it hurts the sentiments of the followers of Saint Gorakhnath.

The CM said that as Guru Gorakhnath was a saint and using this word in any Official Language, speech or in any context hurts the sentiments of his followers, therefore the use of this word in any context has been completely banned now.

Capt launches Rs 520 cr debt relief scheme for 2.85L farm labourers, landless farmers

Asserting his continued support to the farmers agitating against the Centres three black farm laws, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday launched Rs 520 crore debt relief scheme for 2.85 lakh farm labourers and landless farmers, in a befitting tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhis pro-poor vision of the former Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister said that the had decided to waive off loans amounting to Rs 520 crores of farm labour and landless farmers with respect to the principal amount against their cooperative loans as on July 31, 2017, and Simple Interest at the rate of seven percent per annum on the said amount till March 6, 2019. Notably, the State Government had earlier waived off Rs 4,700 crore worth of loans (up to Rs two lakh of crop loan each) for 5.85 lakh small and marginal farmers.

Rs 4-cr irrigation scheme for Spiti village

An Irrigation facility will be constructed at Rs 3.99 crore for cultivation of agricultural land at Langcha village in the Spiti region of Lahaul-Spiti. Tribal Development Minister Ram Lal Markanda laid the foundation stone of the irrigation scheme.

The scheme will irrigate 107 hectares in the area and will benefit the farmers of Langcha village.

Markanda said people of Langcha village had been demanded for an irrigation scheme for a long time.

At Kaza, the minister laid the foundation stone of a common housing building to be built at Rs 87.72 lakh and the foundation stone of a helipad to be built under Kungri panchayat at Rs. 54.57 lakh. Markanda also inaugurated a 70-ft bridge connecting Mane Siluk village completed at a cost of Rs 78.47 lakh.

Uttarakhand: At 11,000 feet, countrys highest garden at Mana

India’s highest-altitude herbal garden with 40 species of Himalayan herbs, including some that are extremely rare and endangered, has come up at a height of 11,000 feet in Mana the last Indian village near Indo-China border.

The garden spanning three acres was built on van panchayat land by the forest department and inaugurated by Mana village pradhan.

It took the forest department three years to gather the herbs many of which are found in remote, inaccessible areas that remain snowbound for several months and grow them in Mana. The harsh weather in the village posed challenges it experiences snowfall for four months and severe rainfall for at least three months.

The park is divided into four zones. The first zone has Plants that generally grow at an altitude of 13,700 feet and above and have high medicinal value. It contains endangered Himalayan alpine species like Van Kakdi (podophyllum hexandrum) which is the only surviving species in its genus.

A total of 79,400 girls have completed their course at 746 branches of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in the state of Uttar Pradesh despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Driven by its mission to educate and empower the girl child, the Yogi Adityanath government ensured that classes did not stop for a single day at all the branches of the school spread over 746 development blocks. The classes were conducted through e-pathshala, Doordarshan and WhatsApp. Besides, educational programmes were also organised for students on YouTube. Out of 746 KGBVs, 446 are for girls studying in Classes VI to XII and 300 for Classes VI to VIII.

The government is also empowering girls by holding self-DEFENCE training and scout guide related activities, Meena Manch, as well as organising vocational courses and Skill development programmes.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been very keen on promoting handicrafts of Jharkhand and placing these products in markets across the globe.

Taking cues from his spirit and vision the has taken multiple initiatives to promote Jharkhand handicrafts. In a recent development, Jharkhand started production of Silk Sarees.

Earlier, Jharkhand used to produce only the Tasar cloth, now for the first time, the work of apparel manufacturing has started in the State. After the orders from the Chief Minister, the Jharkhand State Khadi Board has taken steps in this direction. Boards production and training centre at Chandil has started the production of Tasar Sarees.

In terms of quality, these sarees are considered to be the best in class. Presently, the production is in limited quantity; however, the Government plans to gradually increase the production. The Board is now focusing on the production of sarees in the training and production centres of Amda and Kuchai centres as well.

This is intended to create livelihood opportunities for the weavers of Jharkhand and a vast market presence for these sarees. In current circumstances, it is taking almost three days for the weavers to complete a saree. The design of these sarees is attractive and it is catching the eye of the people in the market. The Tasar produced in the Kuchai region of Jharkhand is considered to be the best in quality.

Apart from creating new livelihood opportunities for the weavers, the Jharkhand Khadi Board is encouraging the states local handloom and handicrafts Industry through Women Empowerment. The Board has distributed sewing machines among 329 women across different districts of the state. These machines were distributed under the Shilpi Rozgar Yojana.

Women Empowerment is one of the focus areas of the government. Through the promotion of handicraft products and distribution of sewing machines, the Government envisions creating a self-sustainable system for the women of the State. For the first time in Chandil, the Board has started production of sarees. Also, as per the vision of the Chief Minister there are plans to further expand the project at other locations as well.

With a view to tackling a possible third wave of theCovid-19pandemic, a superspecialty hospital for children in Patna and separate paediatric units will be set up in 36 districts of the state by March next year. The construction of mother and child care units is also underway in several Sadar hospitals.

The Health department has also given approval of Rs 15.21 crore for the construction of mother-neonatal ICUs at the Dumraon (Buxar), Barh (Patna), Sherghati (Gaya), Bagha (West Champaran), Hilsa (), Rajgir (Nalanda), Barsoi (Katihar), Tarapur (Munger), Naugachia (Bhagalpur),Dalsinghsarai(Samastipur), Rosera (Samastipur), Sonepur (Saran) and Hathua (Gopalganj) divisional hospitals.

Gamharia village in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district has become plastic and garbage free. Earlier, it was declared an Open Defecation Free (ODF) village.

This has been made possible through Safai Mitra, the Women of Suraj Self-Help Group in Gamharia who go door-to-door to collect garbage. Villagers now call them respectfully as ‘Swachchta Didi’, an official Communication said on Tuesday.

The group has made garbage disposal and Waste Management an additional source of earning. In the last one year, they earned Rs 63,000.

Solid waste such as polythene, packing wrappers of food items, plastic items, iron scrap and glass are sold after segregation, said Sunita Kujur, secretary of the SHG. She said 12 women have been working for the group since July 2020.

Indore airport to connect with nearly 20 cities soon

As per the proposed winter schedule released by the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA),Indoreis going to have a movement of over 80 flights with direct connections to nearly two dozen cities.

The list includes flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Raipur, Nagpur, Belgaum, Kishangarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jabalpur, Jaipur, and Gwalior. Airlines such as IndiGo andStar Airhave proposed to operate at least one flight to Surat (Gujarat) and Gondia (Maharashtra) respectively. Flights to Jaipur and Jabalpur are scheduled to start from August 28, and another flight toGwalioris scheduled from September 1.

Powerdemand acrossGujaratsoared to a record high on Tuesday, thanks to the increased consumption ofelectricityin the agriculture sector amid the stalled monsoon. With more and more farmers drawing groundwater using pumps to save their crops, the electricitydemandfrom the agriculture space, too, has reached near its all-time high level.

The states maximum power demand stood at 19,431MW on Tuesday, which is the highest so far, shows the daily data compiled by the Western Region Load Dispatch Centre (WRLDC), which is a central government entity. Previously, the power demand had touched a high of 19,360MW in April this year.

The surge in demand is primarily attributed to the growing usage of electricity by farmers for Irrigation purposes. The consumption in Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture has spiralled as farmers are drawing more ground water to save their crops in the wake of the stalled monsoon, said people closely monitoring power demand-supply in the state.
The also raised the time for supply of power to farmers to 10 hours a day, which has also contributed to the higher consumption.

According to sources, around 110 million units (MUs) or Average 4,583MW of power consumed in the agriculture sector on Tuesday, a tad lower than the all-time high of consumption of 111MUs (about 4,625MW) in agriculture in the state.
