Manipur: Mirabai Chanus biopic gets title registration

Manipur-based Seuti Films Production, which began ground work for its latest production, Mirabai Chanu, has registered the title of the movie with Film Forum Manipur (FFM). The biopic is based on the life of Tokyo Olympic 2020 medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who clinched silver in the 49-kg category in Women‘s weightlifting on July 24, thereby opening Indias first medal tally.

The registration was done at the forums Lamphelpat office here on Thursday in presence of its chairman S Mangoljao, writer of the film Manaobi MM and director OC Meira. FFM chairman S Mangoljao, while stating that the forums executive committee will extend support to the production of the biopic, wished Seuti Films Production a grand success in its venture.

Assam CM for digitisation of land records by 2023

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the revenue and Disaster Management department to set a goal for digitisation of all land records of the state till 2023.

He also urged the department to dispose of all pending partition and mutation cases before completion of the first anniversary of the current government in May next year, according to an official statement.

Calling for reforms in the state’s revenue administration at a meeting with the officials of the department, the chief minister asked them to complete all pending partition and mutation cases in a mission mode.

“Mission Basundhara” will be launched for this purpose on October 2 this year, the statement said.

Smart Fitness Cards by Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, announced that his government will provide smart fitness cards below Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.

Smart Health playing cards will be furnished to 3.5 crore human beings in ninety-six lakh families in the state.

Beneficiaries of countrywide & nation meals protection schemes and Annapurna and Antyodaya initiatives will be provided with these cards. Under it, females can avail treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per year.

Other family contributors will get the advantage of up to Rs 5 lakh each. According to the CM, Odisha is the first kingdom in India to grant such smart health cards.

Health card beneficiaries can avail of health Services across 200 health facility chains in India which include in Odisha. This will fortify the health protection of the people.

This initiative was launched in the backdrop of humans promoting land and valuables or dropping their teenagers out of faculties to prepare the cure costs. Under it, people will get distressed free and undemanding treatment at the best available fitness care facilities.

Annapurna Scheme was once launched in April 2000 with the purpose of presenting to meet the necessities of those senior citizens who remained uncovered below the National Old Age Pension Scheme. First State to Cut Petrol Price – Tamil Nadu

User fee at toll plazas: Kerala govt owes Rs 235 crore to NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken exception to the state governments delay in remitting the dues to the concessionaires of various toll plazas in the state, accumulated by way of non-payment of user fee by KSRTC buses and free passes to vehicles passing through these toll plazas.

According to the documents, at least Rs 235 crore is due from the under these heads to the concessionaires. Of the five toll plazas operating on the highways in the state namely at Paliyekkara (Thrissur), Walayar (Palakkad), Kumbalam and Ponnarimangalam (Ernakulam) and Kollam, the KSRTC is paying the user fee only at Kumbalam. The concessionaire of the toll plaza in Paliyekkara alone had pegged the dues from the KSRTC at Rs 104 crore till March this year, due from the state government as the user fee by the KSRTC.

The state government had issued free passes to car, van, jeep and Light commercial vehicles that belong to within 10km radius of the Paliyekkara toll plaza, in 2012. The government had then assured the concessionaire that the user fee for such vehicles that have been issued free passes will be paid by the government. But this amount has now accumulated up to Rs 129 crore, which also is yet to be paid. Further, close to Rs 1.5 crore is due in a similar case at Kumbalam toll plaza as well.

As per the agreement between the Union Government and the state, the state would bear 25% of the cost of land acquisition for the highways in the state, while the remaining will be borne by the NHAI. The NHAI has also asked the state government to clear its Consent for bearing 25% of the acquisition cost for four various highway projects running to 336km and the development cost has been estimated at Rs 25,000 crore.

Karnatakas EV policy has little for consumers

Some states, like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi, are providing large subsidies to consumers to encourage mass adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). But the Karnataka governments policy, released earlier this year, has little on this front. The policy focuses mostly on drawing EV makers and investors to the state.

It offers 15 per cent capital subsidy to investors in the sector on the value of fixed assets over five equal annual payments, with maximum land covered being 50 acres, and a production-linked subsidy of 1 per cent on turnover. The latter will be provided to large EV assembly and manufacturing units for five years, starting from the first year of commercial operations.

But such incentives have not helped the cause of consumers: prices of EVs have not come down in the state as they were expected to. Take the example of an electric scooter launched recently. According to reports, its two variants are priced at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1.2 lakh in Karnataka. In Gujarat, they will be available for Rs 80,000 and Rs 1 lakh, and for Rs 85,000 and Rs 1.1 lakh in Delhi.

By not offering a subsidy to EV buyers, the Karnataka government appears to be guarding itself against more pandemic-triggered financial setbacks and cuts in central devolution of funds.

Name schemes after freedom fighters: Pawan Kalyan

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday demanded that the rename government schemes after freedom fighters.

He sought to know from government how schemes implemented using public Money could be named after the chief minister and other politicians.

Schemes are named after the chief minister or his family members.Why are schemes not named after Potti Sriramulu, Prakasam Pantulu or other national leaders. Every scheme will be named after national leaders if Jana Sena comes to power, Pawan said.

4,033 Covid orphans identified in Andhra for free education

The Andhra Pradesh Education Department said that it has compiled details of children left orphaned by Covid for providing free education.

It said that it had identified 4,033 children, out of which 1,659 children are students of government schools, while 2,150 are studying in private schools. The orphans include 524 infants, according to the department.

The had ordered the Education Department to compile this information, following The Supreme Court directions that free education should be provided to the affected children.

It has also called for submission of monthly reports on the condition of children who have lost their parents to the pandemic.

STP-treated water can rejuvenateGoas rivers

Goa will see more sewage treatment Plants (STP) becoming operational in the state, which will together produce around 165MLD water after treatment. At present, the water is released in the sea. The state should consider discharge of this water in Goas water stressed areas to rejuvenate the rivers, the new state water policy 2021 has recommended.

STPs are presently operational in Panaji, Margao and Vasco in the state. Their combined capacity is 78.3MLD. Five more STPs are under construction in Goa with a capacity of 35.5 MLD. These are likely to be completed by December 2021, taking the treated water produced by the plants to 165MLD by the end of this year, notes the water policy. The state is generating significant quantum of treated sewage water which is estimated to be 165MLD by December 2021. At present, the treated sewerage water is mostly simply let out in the river seas. To judiciously use the treated water, schemes need to be formulated to supply the same for industrial and agricultural consumers or to discharge it in water Stress areas as e-flow to rejuvenate the rivers, the policy has suggested.

Maharashtra government’s Rajiv Gandhi IT award to be given to companies in five categories

The Maharashtra government on Friday said that the newly-announced Rajiv Gandhi Information Technology Award will be given to IT companies in the state in five different categories. Maharashtra Minister of State for IT Satej Patil made the announcement.

The aim of the award is to recognise the contribution of IT companies in the prospects of the state as well as to encourage the entrepreneurs and startups.

The award will be given in five categories in the information technology sector – IT Engineering Service Software, IT Enabled Service (BPO/KPO), IT (Data Centre), Most Promising Start-Up and Special Award for Contribution to Maharashtra,” he added.

The award comprises a memento and a citation. There will be no cash prize in the award as these companies already have huge revenues, but it is aimed at recognising their contribution to Society and state, he said.
