Mobile digital movie theatres in 5 Arunachal dists

TheInformation Technology(IT) sector inArunachalPradesh received a major boost, with chief ministerPema Khanduflagging off five Mobile Digital Movie Theatres during a function.

Mobile Digital Movie Theatres are ready-to-assemble and easy-to-dismantle theatres housed in mobile trucks. These theatres are air-conditioned, fire and weather-proof and have a seating capacity of 150 people.

The five districts to have the first mobile theatres are Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Namsai,East SiangandTawang.

The health department is looking to give better facilities to patients with round-the-clock monitoring of their health, assisted by ambulance facilities, which is not always feasible while in Home isolation.

IFFCO to set up O2 plant in Paradip

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has decided to set up an Oxygen plant on the factory premises in Paradip. It will make oxygen available free of cost to hospitals treating Covid patients.

To help the governments efforts to augment availability of oxygen in the country, IFFCO has taken steps to set up oxygen Plants at its fertiliser units for meeting the requirement of patients affected by Covid. The cooperative body has already placed an order for setting up of one oxygen plant at its Kalol unit in Gujarat. This plant will be made operational within two weeks. It will have a capacity to produce 700 oxygen cylinders per day.

Each cylinder has capacity of 46.7 litres with medical grade oxygen of 99.5% purity.

Krishnagiri – Walajahpet Highway stretch ranks among nations top 20

The 148.3 km-long Krishnagiri-Walajahpet stretch of the Chennai-Bengaluru Road has been chosen one among the top 20 National Highways stretches in the country. It came sixth in terms of the total score obtained. It got 87.15 points under three heads user Services, highway efficiency and highway safety.

The 142.87 km stretch running through four districts Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore and Ranipet witnesses around 37,000 vehicles daily. We have divided the stretch into three portions and have individual accident response teams with ambulances and cranes. Apart from this we have emergency calling booths every 2 km through which people can call our control room, said a source in the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Kerala: Project to rejuvenate six major city canals in troubled waters

The Rs 1,367 crore integrated urban regeneration and water transport system (IURWTS), a scheme mooted by the government for the rejuvenation of major canals in the city, is limping.

Though the work on the project was scheduled to begin in September 2020, the project is yet to even get the necessary clearances.

The procedures for land acquisition are to be started. The project funded by KIIFB plans to rejuvenate six major canals in the city and to start through these canals.

Besides the regeneration of the canals, the IURWTS envisages canal Network for inland navigation, tourism and recreational purpose. Boat jetties, bridges and foot overbridges, etc. will have to be constructed.

Karnataka nets Rs 10,000 crore commercial tax

Commercial activities remained strong in Karnataka in March, when Covid-19 cases began to climb. The state collected commercial tax of Rs 10,900 crore in the month, an all-time high.

The GST collection was Rs 9,200 crore and sales tax mopup from petrol and diesel sales was Rs 1,700 crore, according to the data of the department of commercial taxes. Traders were allowed to submit March returns till April 20 as per the standard practice.

Apart from the states share, the overall goods and Services tax also includes the components of central GST (Rs 2,187 crore in March), integrated GST (Rs 3,400 crore) and a cess (about Rs 900 crore). Integrated GST goes to states where goods from Karnataka are transported.

Expedite report on school education: Cabinet panel

The Cabinet sub-committee on improving Education and in schools on par with corporate sector met and urged the officials to expedite the preparation of document for speedy implementation.

The committee was constituted as part of the governments efforts to enhance quality education by spending 2,000 crore every year. KTR said the government considered strengthening school education as a solid source for offering quality higher education and the new scheme was aimed at that. He said spending was a part of social obligation on the part of the government.

The new scheme aims at constructing additional classrooms, new buildings and creating digital classrooms apart from facilities like drinking water and toilets. The committee asked officials to submit the final document at the earliest.

Andhra Pradesh farmers get Rs 128 crore in zero-interest loans

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday credited Rs 128.47 crore directly into the accounts of 6,27,906 farmers under YSR Zero-Interest Crop Loan Scheme for 2019-20 Rabi season.

The loans were paid to those who availed loans up to Rs 1 lakh in the previous season and repaid them in the stipulated time.

Since the government came to power in June 2019, a total of Rs 1,132 crore was paid to 61,22,585 farmers under the zero-interest subsidy scheme. He urged the farmers to get enrolled under the e-crop Database for availing interest subvention from June 2021.

The chief minister said that the government has been providing nine hours of free electricity to the farmers during the day benefiting over 18.78 lakh farmers by spending Rs 8,800 crore annually. Through this scheme, each farmer will be saving a minimum of Rs 46,000 every year. The has completed the capacity building of feeders to provide free power to farmers with a cost of Rs 1,700 crore.

Subsidy for e-vehicles in 2 months

Power ministerNilesh Cabralsaid that thesubsidyscheme that thegovernmentwould roll out in 2 months time for purchase of electric vehicles will be opened to government employees too.

While the government will give a 20 per cent subsidy, the bike or car company will share another 20per cent subsidyand the 15 percent value would be of the existing vehicle even if scrapped.

Curbs to affect Maharashtra GSDP by up to 1.5%: Industry association

The enhanced lockdown-like restrictions in Maharashtra could impact the states economy by up to 1.5% if these curbs continued for about a month, observers said.

The observers, however, said the overall impact would be softer than last years economic impacts following a total lockdown.

Estimates from the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture (MCCIA) revealed that the Pune region, the states main manufacturing base and information technology hub, was losing around Rs5,600 crore in the gross value addition (GVA) value of goods and Services, minus input costs per week in the enhanced restrictions and lockdown-like period. For the state, a two-week period of restrictions entails about a 0.5% impact on the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). More restrictions, such as a lockdown, or a lengthening of the period of restrictions to the middle of May, can increase that impact by up to 1.5%.
