Nagaland receives 4,510cr biz investment intent at B20 meet

Nagalandreceived business interests worth Rs 4,510 crore in various sectors from both national and international delegates during the Business 20 conference, an official release said.

The state on Wednesday hosted the fourth and last B20 meeting as part of the summit held in the North East Region (NER) includingManipur, Mizoram and Sikkim. Altogether 60 delegates from 27 countries participated in the conference.

Representatives from the business community of Nagaland as well as government departments also participated in the Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) negotiations coordinated by the Confederation of Indian Industry under theministry of external affairs, said the release issued by Nagaland Home commissionerAbhijit Sinha. The B2B/B2G witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Nagaland government and investors for investments in RENEWABLE ENERGY to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore over the next three years.

Govt committed to regenerate pride of indigenous people: Himanta


Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his government is committed to regenerate the pride and prestige of the states indigenous communities. There is an urgent need to make the upcoming generations realise the importance of being rooted to their cultural heritage and identity, the chief minister said after the ceremonial distribution of financial grants to Celebration Committees.

The Chief Minister distributed one-time financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh each to a total of 2,114 Bihu celebration committees from across the state, an initiative launched last year by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Assam government.

Bihu is a representation of the rich cultural heritage of the Assamese community and the initiative was aimed at ensuring that the festival is celebrated in a manner befitting its significance in the states cultural sphere.

Family planning picking up pace in Odisha: Govt data

Government data has revealed that family planning is gaining pace in the state.

According to the data, while total sterilisation cases were 55,072 in 2020-21, but it increased to 83,143 in 2021-22 and 85,219 in 2022-23 (till February 2023). Intake ofcontraception pillsand use ofcondomshave also increased in the state.

According to government data, both male and female sterilisation cases have increased since 2020-21. Of seven contraception methods propagated by the , intake of contraceptionpillshas sharply increased over the years.

Only 1,587 Women were taking these pills in 2018-19. The number doubled the next year. In 2020-21, as many as 17,260 women had taken these pills. The number increased to 1,38,663 in 2021-22 and more than two lakh in 2022-23 (till February).

Chennai to host Asian Hockey Cship in August: Udayanidhi

International hockey will return to the city after a gap of 16 years with the mens Asian Championship, to be held here at the SDAT-Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in the last week of August this year. The mens Asia Cup hockey championship in 2007 was the last international hockey event that happened in Chennai.

The minister has been quite active and has taken a few quick decisions to fast-track overall Sports development in the state and make Nadu a model for sports in the country. The State Government is keen on developing the grassroots-level Infrastructure, scout talent across the state and train them for the future, and also setting up three state-of-the-art Centres for Sports Science in Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, Udhayanidhi has requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister of youth affairs and sports Anurag Thakur to allot Khelo India to Tamil Nadu next year.

The minister revealed that the state government will spend 25 crore to renovate five stadiums Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium and Velachery Aquatic Complex soon.

Kerala govt to acquire 15 acres of Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore land

Industries ministerP Rajeevehas said the would acquire 15 acres owned byFertilizers and Chemicals Travancore(FACT) at Eloor and hand it over to Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) for setting up a Science Park. The minister along with Cusat vice-chancellor visited the site on Tuesday and held discussions withFACTofficials on acquiring thelandidentified for the purpose.

The state government has already sent a request to FACT expressing willingness to acquire the land. The FACT will convene a board meeting to discuss it. Once the approval is given at the board meeting, it will be sent for the Union governments nod.

Karnataka completes markings for Bhandura project

After completing the work of survey and markings for its Kalasa project,Karnatakahas now successfully carried out the survey and markings for itsBhanduraproject as well. Both projects will help Karnataka divert water from the tributaries of Goas lifeline, the Mhadei river, into the neighbouring statesMalaprabha basin.

Telangana ranks sixth in India on patent application filings

Telanganahas ranked sixth in terms of filing of patent applications in the country after Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Punjab for the year 2021-22. In terms of design, the state stood 13th and ninth in terms of trademark filings in the country, as per the latest annual IP report.

The report has been released by the office of the controller general of patents, designs, trademarks and Geographical Indications, which falls under the department for promotion of Industry & internal trade (DPIIT) of the Union ministry of commerce & industry.

Pointing out that Telangana has slipped from the list of top five states, Subhojit Saha, head oflegal& IPR, Resolute group of companies, said though the state has been doing phenomenally well in investments and innovations, there is a need to see how these can generate from IP from the state.

Andra Pradesh’s share in IT exports below 0.2%, says minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Union minister of state for electronics and information technology, said the value of IT exports from AP in 2021-22 was just 926 crore. This was just 0.14% of the total IT exports from India. AP’s share in IT exports always remained below 0.2% in the last five years, he said.

The minister said AP has good , a large manufacturing base, talented youth, and business-friendly Environment for the development of IT and ITES Industry as per the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). He said five incubation centres are functional in AP under the Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs -TIDE 2.0 to support ICT startups. Of these, two are operational in Visakhapatnam, and one each at Chittoor, Guntur and Tirupati. The software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is also having three incubations centers – in Tirupati, Vijayawada and Kakinada, and four STPI centers – in Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam in AP.

Goa will be top wellness tourism destination: CM Pramod Sawant

Chief ministerPramod Sawant addressed the Digital Health Summit of B20 (or Business 20, the official dialogue forum) and told the delegates in Panaji that the Goa government has started Ayush Wellness units at all its primary health centres. He said Goa is striving to become a prominent presence on the wellness tourism map.

Sawant said that a digital approach can help tackle the issues of access, affordability, and quality. The theme of the B20 Digital Health Summit is Building One Health Together.

Sawant said that Prime Minister Narendra Modis launch of the National Digital Health Mission was a visionary initiative and the first major step towards Universal Health Coverage in India. He said the PMs decision to grant Ayush-visas to people from around the world to visit India for Ayush-based treatment and wellness programmes was yet another visionary move.

Cattini India to invest 20cr in Pune facility

CattiniIndia will invest Rs 20 crore to set up its manufacturing facility in Sanaswadi, Pune. The will be spread over five years and the company plans to initially manufacture gear synchronizers for commercial vehicles, a statement said.

The manufacturing facility is expected to start operations in January. The company plans to export the products to the EU market for the first few years, with local sales starting in the second phase of investment. The investment marks Cattini’s foray into the Indian market and is a significant step in the company’s Growth strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
