Tripura sends Delhi Rs 2000 crore proposal for 2nd RIMS in NE

TheTripuragovernment has sent a proposal of Rs 2,000 crore for the next 10 years to set up the second Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) inAgartalaafter Imphal by upgrading the and facilities of Tripura Medical College (TMC), said Health secretary Dr DebashishBasu.

He said the State Government has already sent a proposal to the ministry of health for approval. Chief minister Dr Manik Saha held a discussion with Prime MinisterNarendra Modion the proposal during his meeting on Monday in New Delhi.

Assam records 13th highest child abuse cases in 2021

Assamhas recoded 13th highest cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act in the country, where nearly 2,000 minor girls have become victims, while each of the remaining northeastern states has reported below 500 cases. A total of 1,925 cases were reported.

According to the NCRB report for 2021, more than two-thirds of the total Pocso cases were that of rape where 1,317 minor girls were allegedly raped last year.

Utsah is the only organisation in the northeast which provides comprehensive support person Services to children who are victims of child sexual abuse, under the Pocso Act.

States mine revenue on constant rise

Mineral revenue continues to outsmart all other revenue collections in Odisha and it is expected that the will generate more fund from this sector during this fiscal as the collection up to September is much better compared to last years corresponding period.

The latest report on revenue collection reveals that in the mineral sector there is a Growth of 3.9% compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal. During last six months, a Budget Estimate of 44.79% is achieved. While for 2022-23 the Budget Estimate for the mineral sector was set at Rs 43,444 crore, the collection is much better during last six months.

While the revenue collection from mineral sector in 2021-22 was Rs 48, 642 crore, which was a record of sort, financial experts opine that that this year also it will surpass the earlier amount as the trend is positive.

Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin launches crop insurance disbursal to 4.4 lakh farmers

Chief ministerM K Stalinon Tuesday launched the disbursal of 481 crore as compensation under the crop Insurance scheme to 4.43 lakh farmers who raised samba, thaladi and summer crops for the year 2021-22.

The chief minister gave away the cheques to 10 farmers at an event held in Chennai.

Prime Minister’s crop insurance scheme for the year 2021-22 was implemented in 37 districts in the state by the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture“>Indian Agriculture Insurance Company and IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance Company Limited.

The timely remittance of 1,339 crore by the has facilitated the insurance companies to sanction 481 crore on time, the release added.

It may be noted that the Tamil Nadu government has so far remitted 2,057 crore as its share of insurance premium to 85,597 farmers who raised crops so far in around 63,331 acres during this 2022-23 year for the benefit of the farming community.

Cleanliness: Kochi shows poor progress

The city again performed very poorly in the Swachh Survekshan 2022 rankings released by theministry of housing and urban affairson Saturday.Kochistood at 298th position among 382 cities with a Population between one lakh and 10 lakh. The only consolation is that it made a marginal progress as compared to the 324th position in 2021.

Kochi stood second in the state after Alappuzha , which secured 190th rank. The performance of municipalities under zonal ranking has also been dismal. No municipality fromErnakulammanaged to make it to the list of top 100 clean cities, underscoring that the Waste Management in these regions is still in tatters.

Kochi performed badly in segregated door-to-door collection, cleanliness of roads, public toilets, market areas and citizen grievance redressal. Surprisingly, more than 90% drains in the city surveyed were adjudged clean.

Novel initiative adopted in libraries across Karnataka

AmmanigonduPustaka, an initiative started by a librarian in a remote village panchayat, has now become a state-wide campaign. This is thanks toSavithriram Kanemaradka, the librarian at Mandekolou village panchayat. She started the Ammanigondu Pustaka concept to pique interest among the younger generation to read books.

As per the circular from the panchayat raj department, the children must read the book along with their parents, after borrowing it from the local panchayat library.

AP Chambers urges Air India to provide international connectivity to State airports

The AP Chambers of Commerce and Federation (AP Chambers) wrote a letter to Campbell Wilson, the MD and CEO of Air India, requesting him to provide international connectivity for Airports in Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) through a hub and spoke model, and to start a direct flight from Vijayawada to Dubai for connecting major destinations around the world.

They also wanted Air India to resume all pre-pandemic flight schedules from all the airports in A.P. and suggested that Air India connect Vijayawada with Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Calcutta via Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and introduce a twice-aweek flight from Vijayawada to Varanasi to cater to the burgeoning demand.

The frequency of flights between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam is sought to be increased.Lastly, the AP Chambers requested Air India to start air cargo connectivity from Vijayawada,Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Tirupati airports to other major destinations and alsoexplore the feasibility of operating dedicated cargo flights.

Goa continues to lag behind in logistics, ranked as aspirer in commerce ministrys LEADS report

Poor , the lack of a grievance redressal mechanism, and erratic power supply saw Goa faring badly in the fourth LEADS (Logistics Ease Across Different States) 2022 report on Thursday. In the report released by theCommerceand Industry ministerPiyush Goyal, Goa has been placed the last category along with 15 other states and union territories.

Among the nine coastal states Goa has been graded as an aspirer along with West Bengal.

The state has scored below Average across all the indicators related to quality of infrastructure. As per primary interactions, Warehousing and terminal infrastructure needs improvement. The state has been rated below average on all other indicators related to reliability of logistics Services. Similarly, the state has also scored below average with regards to all the operating and Environment indicators.

ASI sets up display of rare vintage cameras in Aurangabad

TheAurangabadcircle of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has brought out its collection of vintage cameras and photography-related paraphernalia dating back to more than 130 years to display at its office here, an official said.
Nearly 100 items, including 10 cameras and 90 other parts, have been put on display at the office to give visitors a rare glimpse of photography equipment used in the olden times, he said.

The Aurangabad circle of ASI (earlier called the western circle) was formed in 1885 to cover monuments in the erstwhile Bombay Presidency, which included Gujarat, parts of Karnataka,Madhya Pradeshand parts of Sindh province (Pakistan), the official said.
